As a bisexual woman this song really hits for me. I met another woman about 3 years ago who was also bisexual, & we had no intentions on anything coming out of us meeting. But shortly after us meeting & talking everyday feelings started to form, & gradually grow. Within almost a year in, we began to develop love for eachother. The love for eachother only grew to being in love with eachother . Once I realized how much I really loved & cared for her .. we fell off because of her shutting me out while she was at one of her lowest points. During that period, she met a man.. a man that she ended up being with. I was crushed , then I grew to accept it because at first she was happy. Then thru time because I kno her so well.. I knew she wasn’t really happy. They had some problems going on in the relationship. She started to use me to her advantage for when her & him weren’t on good terms. She would come & vent to me about how she’s feeling & how she found herself in a situation where she’s in love with a man & a woman at the same time . For a good year I was the topic of discussion in every argument they had. He would go thru her phone & he would read our messages & he would see how much she really loved me.. & he hated that. He would block me on her social media & my number constantly without her knowing… eventually it became draining. Like the part of the song “WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME ?!?” Because seriously! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT FROM ME?!? I had to grow to understand that no matter how much love was present I was never going to outweigh him. It started to feel like I was competing for her time & love. Don’t get me wrong I set boundaries the best way I could when it came to her being in a relationship, because I didn’t want her to cheat on him. But I had to realize that it was time to choose me. As painful as it was I recently had to walk away. Not distant myself , but completely pull my energy & remove myself to the point I let her know I didn’t even want to be friends. It broke her to know I had to completely walk away this time.. because she was so use to me just being okay with everything. But truthfully, I was tired. I had enough. I know she loves me very much.. but I had to face the fact for some reason, no matter how bad he treated her.. she was never going to walk away & leave him for me. So I had to do the hard part & walk away for the both of us.
