Rimbaud A Season In Hell

Started in London in April 1873, and finished in France that August.
It draws on his stifling - often violent - relationship with Verlaine, and
his discovery that poetry was not enough. He was the great poet of
the age, and he didn't have a pot to p*ss in. He wanted more.

That's how a poem should be read, with passion, energy and purpose...damn.

That work of that quality was written by someone before the age of twenty is utterly gobsmacking, many of my favourite writers sang his praises in one form or another over the decades - William Burroughs, Samuel Beckett, HP Lovecraft called him a 'titan', Iain Sinclair, Jean Cocteau, the list goes on winding its way through most of the interesting writers in the world.

Oh Grace in child's dream, of feathered truth and trusting air. The will to be your most divine self is your rudder and the wind is the faith. When I found Rimbaud, I was home again. And my delirium of that day cast me in the sky, where the clouds still move me through this world.

This really helped me out alot in a time of trouble... still does. Thank you Rimbaud and all the people who worked on this version

This is an extremely good translation. Unlike most other translations, it conveys the young and irreverent spirit of Rimbaud perfectly. However, it is very incomplete. Bad Blood, for example, is half as long as the original one. The original Season in Hell text would take about an hour to read out loud.

Says right in the intro „In this abridged radio realisation…“ Nonetheless this abridged version is 100x better than any full length version I’ve ever heard. It really comes to life here.

Aeolian there's a way you can keep this forever.... (I delete all my comments from time to time)....I just wanted to let you know that there is a free program called 4k downlaoder that allows you to dl up to 20 videos or just the audio from RU-vid everyday. I think for a charge you get an upgrade with unlimited downloads but 20 or so is more than enough. I use the free version all the time. I remember all you kind words and comments...you are so cool....I'm in a tight spot here btw if you can please send some positive luck or thoughts my way....feeling a bit low and since I seem to know all the wrong people in this world I thought I would ask you....Pretty cheezy huh? No need to reply and thanks for cheering me up before.

The omission of the gay part is unfortunate and really insulting. It was also one of the most human elements of this whole poem. Other than that this was a generous and incredible piece to hear.

I think Rimbaud was a true visionary and seer. The bit where he writes about seeing carriages in the sky and "white nations" on the beaches. It sounds like he saw the invention of air travel. Like the kid was having hallucinatory visions and seeing into the future. He was certainly doing a lot of drugs: Hashish, Opium.
