Wonderful memories of best operas of my childhood. Most of them were composed after Pushkin’s fairy tales, that all kids in oldRussia new word by word. And the operas were performed whole in cartoons! I still remember most of them: Snow maiden, Sadko, The Golden cockerel, Tsar Saltan. Incredibly beautiful melodies and arias from the operas were often sung in concerts. Being aNavy Officer, Rimsky- Korsakov, naturally, loved the sea, hence there is so much sea inspired music in his compositions. This is a very nice compilation of 3 Nikolai R-K’s opera suites, reminding us of very unfair fate of delightful music.
How do you know it’s Repin? I believe His style was different. I can’t argue, because, even though this painting is very familiar, but I can’t remember, who was that other famous Russian painter of Russian peasants. In my childhood I visited Russian museum in Leningrad quite often, but couldn’t guess now.
An absolutely super collection. I have been enjoying Rimsky-Korsakov orchestral works for around 4 hours today. Glad I came across your postings! Best Wishes from Washington,DC!
@@disconnexiondisconnexion1756 Which of the 2paintings? The first one is Repin. 1883 Repins painting depicts Cross carrying procession during Russian Easter in Kursk Province. The second painting is not likely by Repin, but by another prominent Russian artist- very well known.
