I usually use wood for my all purpose 2 room base, with a barracks and everything else, butcher table/spot outside, campfire/stove(depending on my scenario) in the either center area or the barracks. I later move to steel for bigger, more divided bases, with individual rooms and such, and sterile floors in the research/hospital/cooking areas(yes all at once) And finally I move to granite, wether it be for mega bases or just buildings, granite replaces my steel slowly to avoid any possible 20,000 watt storage explosions For a starting area, somewhere on the edge of a mountain or some such, and the region should mostly include granite and marble There’s some spare tips
