To Be Alive feels like her making peace for herself, letting herself feel. a quiet, contemplative, yet euphoric song. drum and bass usually makes for an anxiety inducing trance but somehow, this track is being able to convey the calm but catarthic conclusion of this album. love it so much.

As someone who's entering her twenties, the first time I listened to the album, this song opened my eyes to many things, it gave me hope despite the uncertain future and made me realize how important it is to be thankful for being alive despite adversity, but I know that years down the road it'll make much more sense. That made me curious, a hunger for what's yet to come and finally understand why I lived what I've lived, why I felt everything I've ever felt... and then I realized, it's my first time feeling an ardent curiosity for the future. Never would I have imagined the fuel to want to keep on living would be curiosity. Past trauma, past closure and eventful relapses, what would be of me? How would it feel to finally get it? Thank you Rina, you don't discover the meaning of life in one place, nor it is one big thing, it's a million little signs, moments, feelings, and people. Thank you for being one of them for me:')

This song is how I felt after grieving so many deaths from 2020-2023. My father passing hit me especially hard and when I finally felt okay it was like I woke up from a coma. This song expresses that feeling perfectly. Thank you, Rina Sawayama 💗
