As an alarm expert you should really have your motion Sensors in the corner of a room not on a flat wall … having it in a corner is an advantage to give you more coverage of the area your protecting
Also you’re Smoke alarm should be on a roof not a wall because the smoke or go straight past it and it will take a while for it to eventually come download to reach the smoke alarm set for the best security and fire safety I definitely recommend those two things
@@allaboutalarms4842 Thank you! I’ll install my new ones that way. I really appreciate your advice on these alarms. I traditionally had mine on a wall so i’ll make that change immediately. I just set up my motion detector for my ring system in the corner and it got amazing coverage for all my hallway. It’s perfect! Thank so so so much
@@allaboutalarms4842 Do you recommend i get more motion detectors? I have two currently. One in my living room and one in my hallway. I was thinking about getting one for each bedroom which would be 2 more incase someone broke a window and got in. The contact sensors wouldn’t really cover a window break in.
That's an old first alert smoke detector from i wanna say the late 90's early 2000's. My parents house had one in the hallway. Boy when i was 6-7 i was terrified of it. I outgrew that fear of alarms now but they just annoy me lmao
On IOS ot sounds like four pulses which plays at max volume even if the phone is silent. On Android there is no preincluded tone, but you can set your own, which in my case I set it to a recording of the alarm going off.
If someone breaks into your door and enter your home, by the time they kill you and take a few things in under 2 minutes, your alarm will just start to go off. No delay entry for me. I disarm the system before opening the door, lock it, and arm it immediately. I feel safest that way. Although, I do see why disarming it for even 30 seconds can be stupid if someone snuck up behind me and knocked me out with my alarm disabled. That's scary too.
For me since I have the second generation, there is a button on the contact sensor that lets you open the door without setting off the alarm for only once. Just press the button and it will flash green, and you can open the door. After you close the door if you want to open the door again you have to press it again, otherwise it will sound the alarm.
I had a traditional wired system and it works the same way this one does. you set one door as your entry exit door and that is the door with the delay. if you open any other door the alarm will immediately go off! You can now get wireless siren's to put in other places in the house. The reason your base station was not loud is because you had it hidden in the bathroom! The best place to put it is mounted on the wall. With this system if the base station is broken it automatically notifies the call center if you are paying for monitoring!
I think the delay is adjustable from 30-180 seconds so you have time to deactivate it. If it was instant it would go off every time you come home (unless disabled before entering via mobile phone)
Unfortunately, I couldn’t hear the 10 second countdown sound on the keypad when I was trying to listen to it, but this time I heard it on the base station
The one thing I do not like about your ring a lot is that it is the keypad is have like a wire attached to it and that makes it look like it’s not professionally done, but you can what you can do is unplug it, and it will still be functionally working And the one other thing is it you should have your motion sensors in the corner of a room, not on a flat wall and the other thing is that the alarm is a weak and also I don’t like the old generation keypad who do you think agrees with me?🤔 but on the other hand your house is 👍🏼 just SAYING………….
He has his siren in a closet upstairs, not ideal location for it to be heard. You can buy additional indoor and outdoor sirens for about 30 bucks each. Although, they're not as loud as hardwired sirens you get from big alarm companies like ADT. Those things are so loud you can barely talk to the alarm company when they call.
@@185O is it really that bad? At the age of 14 my brinks system with an ADT siren still terrifies me especially because it’s also right outside my bedroom door, we just got the 2nd gen system.
This is the second home in which ru-vid.comUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU we've replaced our "regular" doorbell with a Ring video doorbell and we really enjoy it. It is very easy to install and it works very well, with a clear picture through the app and good in-home use (we added the chime, which is also easy to install and doesn't require another thought to use).
They could do that with any system. And if they did, you police would still be immediately notified and you phone will be immediately notified. So even if you have to replace it the proper authorities are on the way
@@michaeln.8401 ADT doesn't. At least last time I checked years ago. Older systems definitely dont have it. Another thing to look for is Advanced protection logic or APL usually found on Honeywell's systems. It's the same thing but maybe a couple changes. Also remember that for a faster response for a monitoring system you must decrease the dialer delay
Yes I own a Ring Alarm System Gen 2 and if you go in the settings on the app and click base station and click entry/exit delay, there should be a timer from 15-120 seconds
Guys. i really need some help here. Here i go I recently bought the 2nd gen. NO SUBSCRIPTION. If there's internet and electricity outage and it's armed. when i get home can i deactivate it with keypad? I mean i dont wanna get home try to disarm it and then siren going off and UNABLE to stop it. thanks
that's a really weak siren, one of the drawbacks I think....if someone enters your house you want outside and inside noise. It's a huge deterrent for anyone just sticking around and the delay on that is terrible..should be instant. You ran around your house for a decade before that thing went off. Why the delay? Did you trip the entry-exit?
James Hudson I have to agree. I returned this system. I’m really thinking of getting simplisafe. Seems good for the money and the exterior siren is a must
Simpli safe is inferior. I did tons of research and besides being more expensive, simplisafe can be hacked with any Bluetooth device. And I have my delay set for 15 seconds
I am new to ring alarm I need to know if anybody has this problem if they can help me with Every time I set my ring alarm ring the siren go off win door is close
Burglar 1: Dude what's that noise? Burglar Assistant: Man that's the Ring Alarm. I saw that on RU-vid before. You just unplug those things, done! Alarm:
My dad tripped the sensor getting a glass of water at 12 am and it scared the living shit out of me I was just peacefully sleeping and all the sudden REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
The Animatebook You are mistaken. Although the bigger part is supposed to go on the doors frame, it isn’t always viable such as when the frame has design or a big inward gap. Thanks for watching
@@Claroboy911 it is actually incorrectly installed, my nest secure is installed that way and even in the app it says that the larger part should be installed on the door
The nest secure sounds better but Ring made a newer version of the alarm system. At least the newer Ring still sounds better. The keypad siren is just garbage because the sound on the keypad is distorted.
