Great video. When I put in my original Ring Doorbell I saw a clever response online for if you are away but talking to someone at your home through your Ring who wants you to come to the door. You can't come to the door, but don't want to reveal that you're not at home. Simply tell them "I can't come to the door, I'm bathing my dogs". This is plausible and might conjure a vision of big dogs that the caller might be frighted of. I used this once when one whole state away from home on vacation and it worked.

You should tell Ring their adverts are false how they make the picture qualityv of the doorbells look like photo quality but they are no where near that. But I must admit this one looks impressive.. if I wasn't renting and I owned my own property I would buy lots of these 😂

Another great review from my go-to channel when it comes to security cam reviews. I stumbled across your channel about 3 months ago when looking at doorbell options and, after much deliberation due to subscription, opted for Ring because I knew that I'd want to add more products. As you've noted previously the app integrates everything very well. Now I've added 2 x wired floodlight cams (recently on offer here) following your review in preference to the pro and I'm really pleased. What is interesting is that although both have night motion floodlight enabled and colour night vision disabled, one of the pair switches to colour after a very short delay whereas the other doesn't. The baseplate is slightly different here 🇬🇧 and allows power to be supplied without a through wall junction box. Many thanks for your all of your content. ❤
Really liked your review of the Ring Floodlight Cam Wired PLUS... I am looking to put a new floodlight camera in my backyard. I have the Ring Doorbell and older Ring Floodlight Wired already installed. I enjoyed the portion of your review that shows how easy it is to connect to Alexa and view the camera...and when using the app all of the Ring products are displayed...and real benefit for those who already have Ring products. I have looked at your other reviews on the Wyze Floodlight camera...You are one of the best when it comes to product reviews...very clear and factual. Thanks for the video! My original camera (a year old) became faulty, which resulted in it being stuck in night vision during the day. Luckily, it was covered under the warranty, allowing me to get a replacement floodlight camera. Not sure if you’ve ran into these issues with ring. I say all of that to say, that I’ll wait to upgrade when they release products in 4K or higher resolution. Unless anything breaks and isn’t covered by ring protect.
I haven't had issues with mine yet but 1 good thing about Ring is that their warranty extends to the life of the camera when you are subscribed to their protect plus plan.
I still have to think about the license plate test at night because this is more of an angle issue than anything. If I hold it up towards the camera, it will all be glare because of the reflective properties of the plate. So, it has to stay in one position and to the level of a regular car and at a specific distance. I might do a separate video on this just to try to set this up. This also holds true with IR night vision...what you will get is all glare.
@@LifeHackster Ah yes...I remember there was one of your videos explaining this right? If im not mistaken it was at front garage or something (night time). I remember because the glare/reflective surface of the plate...it becomes white.
As an electrician you should know that the wiring does not care what colour it is and the colour of a wire does not determine its electrical state. Always test charge with a multimeter not with your eyes.
Please note that the floodlight Ring has a 5” plate and he has installed it to a 4” electrical junction box. I’m not criticizing him, but this setup is NOT water resistant. I did NOT know this when I bought one and I’m surprised Ring does not make a junction box for retrofits that fit their plates.
Rings foam gasket on the back is more than enough to seal the junction box. You are using the central screw to attach the plate to the box proving equal pressure and will seal it. Tested it, it is weather proof.

Struggling to go all out in the ring spotlight and flood light cams due to their lower resolution compared to competitors. I recently watched your comparisons on several different brands (awesome by the way!!). Now I think I'm confused on waiting it out in hopes that Ring will actually meet 2021 standards for video quality, bite the bullet and potentially not have visibility if a bad guy creeps around, or choose one of the competitors offering 4k video. A bit late for you but here in the UK the baseplate is different and allows the floodlight cam to be attached to the wall and also powered from an external (wall mounted) cable that enters at the o'clock position.
Love your videos new to the channel been watching lots of the older videos and working my way towards these newer ones. Anyway to post a video on how to wire the spotlight Cam above the garage door to the inside outlet on the ceiling that people’s garage door openers are plugged into? With how good your videos are and detailed be nice to see that on the wiring part.
It is there in the video.. still daytime though, I'm still thinking of how I'll set it up at night because of the glare if the plate is directly facing the camera.
I originally bought a Ring Plus but i had to bring it back because i read it didnt work with 5 G internet. I bought the Ring Pro which cost 280.00 but supposedly works with 5 G internet. I didnt install it yet.
I just got a couple of these floodlight cameras to replace a faulty first gen floodlight camera. I noticed the wired plus has the vigneting in the upper left and a little on the upper corner. I didn’t have that issue with my gen 1. I also noticed that the snapshot view in my dashboard looks low resolution compared to my gen 1. It makes me feel like the wired plus is a downgrade from the gen 1. However the live view and recorded video looks the same as the gen 1.

lol just bought three of the originals when they were dropped in price. Sooo happy I didnt get the plus. Metal>plastic and the four FPS extra is not worth it. Least RIng could do is bump up the frame rate to 60 FPS.

Just purchased this thinking it would be good after your review boy was i wrong there is definitely an issue with the sensitivity. Every car that drives past sets it off, ive set sensitivity to lowest and motion zones still same issue
Great video, I purchased the Ring Floodlight Cam Plus and I have two other light cans on the same circuit. My other ring "spotlight" has a red auxiliary wire for other lights to turn on and off with the motion sensor is engaged. The new Floodlight Plus does not have the red auxiliary wire and when I wire the switch to "on" the floodlight works but the 2 other lights on the circuit remain on. they do not turn off with the motion sensor of the floodlight. Is this new model not capable of wiring in series or parallel? Thank you!
Dang. When I read these were wired i assumed I could just plug it in. I didn't realize it was hard-wired into the wall. Unfortunately I will be returning mine.
I'm still so torn between Arlo and Ring. One major determining factor is I live in AZ. Within the next few days it'll hit 117. with either of the security cameras, I would have hem right above my garage and they would be exposed to the harsh sun/temperatures. What would you recommend in this case?

Eufy is lacking still on its app as to integration between its devices. Only battery powered cameras and sensors connected to its home base are able to integrate with each other. I'll talk about their ecosystem whenever they have better integration. As to your suggestion, I've included it on the idea list. thank you.
Great Review of the Wired Plus Ring Cam. It states the connectivity is 2.4ghz, is that the minimum or can the cam connect on higher frequencies? Thank You
Do you really need the Ring protect plan to use this device, or can you record the videos on your cell phone? Can you also adjust the camera from left to right or only from up to down?
@@lloydedmonds8775 I am actually still using the first gen ring floodlight cam - the one with metal floodlights…I also do have the eufy floodlight cam 2 pro in my backyard.
The fixing is not ideal for UK outside Brick Wall. We don't use the grey junction box as featured here in the demonstration. We simply fix the bracket of the floodlight to the brick wall, then connect the wiring to a side waterproof compartment of the floodlight. I was just about to buy Ring floodlight cam plus, but when I saw this demonstration I changed my mind. The wiring system is not the standard that we use here in the UK for floodlight.
My existing follow light installed on brick house has a vertically installed rectangular electrical housing. Will the Ring circle style mount to that or will i need to modify what I have?
I'm thinking of purchasing the Floodlight cam wired plus, which would be mounted under the soffit. Will the spotlight hoods be upside-down...or did they fix that problem?
Just got one of these as a replacement for my original model that failed (Image turned Red) after 4 years. I have to say that the image quality on this new PLUS model is CRAP. Bright areas of the image are now completely blown out and clipped.

We are replacing our old Ring Floodlight cam with the new one as the camera in the old one became very blurry, any Idea why and what can be done to prevent that?

Wow, limited tilt sensor and upside-down lights? Hopefully water won't pool up on the lights and leak in. I'll pass. Ring won't notify me when there's a package delivery but it tells me when a car drives past at night, even in people only mode. Can you tell I'm still not happy with ring?
True.. they could just make it so that you can rotate the hood but I'm not able to turn it. I personally don't use the people only mode and I will probably do a comparison video on human detection across camera brands in my future videos. Yes, I know you are not happy with Ring lol...

Just when they had it dialed in about a year ago they changed it and it went to crap again.
Costco is selling these floodlight cam, how do i know if its still old Ring Floodlight Cam or the newer plus model? Is the 'Plus' printed somewhere on the box?
Is it normal for the plus to refocus every 4 seconds? When watching LIVE on my computer it constantly goes in and out of focus, and it drives me nuts! RING says it's normal, but I don't see it on other videos.
If mounting on a soffit or eave, do you know how one would rotate the visors on the light housing from being upside down? I have the Wired Plus (latest version) and it seems to lacks sufficient rotation. Thanks
