*We purchased this after moving, and previously had a spotlight **Newest.Technology** cam with solar power. The wired pro cam has much better light (about the same as a bright porch light), and the image is significantly more clear with much better details.*
I am waiting for delivery Of my ring floodlight camera. My research had me watching a lot of these videos and to be honest with you I hadn't seen yours till now very well done!
Installed it myself without any issues. The wifi signal is great even ru-vid.comUgkxE_D_sddGAdiVUKp7PkkmyxO7bRtgqmk5 when the router is located far away. I really enjoy the night vision feature that allows me to see clearly any activity near our house (mostly cars and wild animals). The motion detection is helpful to me as well to monitor what happens on our front.
I just installed my flood light cam, and so far I seem to like it. The one thing I was kinda disappointed about is it seems like the alarm isn’t as loud as advertised or as I would like.
I just bought the camera I haven't installed it yet but I will soon, In the box it said that is one year free. I didn't get that. Do you have an idea why is that for?
Awesome video, Can you give some tips on how your wired it, I am planning to put it slightly above my garage, brick wall. Would that be possible? How do you manage the alerts that are caused when you are going in and out of the garage, pulling up into the driveway in car, kinds of stuff. Thanks again for this helpful video.
you can turn the alerts off if you dont want to get them. i only ever leave mine on during night or at work. you'll need a drill and a carbide drill bit thats bigger then the wire your planning on putting through the wall. its really not hard, just tedious and time consuming.
Has anyone installed underneath fascia ? If so did you have adjustment for motion detection issues. In other words if you have to mount under a fascia does it limit the units ability?
you can adjust your motion areas and sensitivity on the app. or swivel the camera/sensor part the other way to make more room. its a nice camera for the price, been using it for 10months now.
Thanks for the review, very useful.can i move the direction of the camera? Ex. If i want it to face the back of the yard would i be able to turn it side ways?
Awesome review. I just have one question... if my current flood light is connected to a switch, do I need to keep the switch in the on position at all times? Reason I ask is cause my porch light is on the same switch as the flood light. Thanks.
Didn't know they charged a fee? Thanks for info, what if you have doorbell and 2 floodlights, do you pay for each item or 1 fee for all items to same account? Thnx
You will most certainly have to pay for each device, however, the price will decrease per the number of devices you are wanting to be subscribed to that specific service. Example: Your first device may cost you $10/month, then the next device might cost you $5/month, and so on and so forth. Any recording device that you use to stream live footage will charge a fee to store your content, that should be a given. Imagine the number of people who own these devices who want as much recorded footage as they can have. Can you imagine how big their servers must be? Aside hardwired setups with your own onsite DVR's to store your footage, and no-name Chinese companies (Amcrest, Zodo, etc.) which take a micro-SD card in the camera itself, Arlo camera's that include the home base are the only big name company that you can rig up onsite storage for your video content recorded from your camera's. You do this by plugging in a portable HDD or SSD into the base unit itself, which will then store your video footage onto your HHD or SSD. Might wanna hide that hard drive though, kinda defeats the purpose if its right out in plain sight.
Ring offers a free account, $3 per month or $30 per year for one camera or $10 a month/$100 annually for unlimited cameras and professionally monitored alarm at one address.
The light life expectancy lasts longer than your life. It doesn't matter your age. it's an LED light so you'll never need to replace it. The light bulbs will out last you. I was in Ring's tech support.
The beginning of the video is black & white then it goes to color. What changed? Is it B&W when the floods are on and color when they're off? Seem like you'd want color all the time to better identify the person.
Per camera, however, the price decreases per the number of devices you are installing. The first device say might cost $10/month, then the second might cost $5/month, etc. etc.
no 100% sure. they see to be integrated. there LEDS tho so long life span. by the time they break you'll prob be int he market for a new one anyway lol
If you dont pay for the storage you will still get notifications and live feeds when the sensors are tripped. However if say you caught a burglar in progress you would have no way to save and share the video with authorities.
I’m more concerned with identifying and prosecuting vandals that have ruined structures on my property and gotten into my electrical box to my home. I feel my safety is at stake and I will do what needs to be done to protect my home and property.
If your not electrically Knowledgable enough to know you need to support the wire within a foot (6” in crazy California) with a plastic or metal staple, or create a loop, below your junction box; I shudder to think what is on the other end. A plug, a hole in a panel without a Romex connector. A fuse or breaker with double wires? Feel free to show the basics if you’re going to post the video. Monitized or not. (FYI I don’t like metal staples [not to mention the inexpensive coduit it should run in] because it can short between the wires when exposed to the elements. Specifically wind and vibration, oh ya, n Sunlight. But that’s better than dangling them from a junction box. As shown. That wood deck looks like great kindling, despite the kayak trespasser. Consider adding a basics electrical link.
...My neighbor has the ring doorbell... ...its slow...it shows me walking away... ...its always like 15 seconds before it starts to record...;-(,,,, ...for $179.00 it should be better than that... ...so for $249.00 from Costco I hope it would be better...;-=),,,,,,,
i dont have experience with the doorbell but the floodlight is pretty quick on notifying you. it could be delayed due to poor internet connection if its to far away
Cam23 I have cams everywhere around my house and works great when you play around with motion detector. My detector even picks up a squirrel running across 60 feet away recorded. Love it so far. But not so much for the stick cam.
