Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus Install and Review 

Patrick Dougherty wow that’s pretty intense wiring! We re-wired this house and I saw something similar here, but it wasn’t the doorbell. What they had done here was pony the wiring from an outlet to the doorbell, so they tied the white doorbell wire to all sorts of other wires. Long story short (and huge disclaimer that I am not an electrician), I think you would need to use a multimeter to see which wires are hot and which aren’t. Two of the doubled up wires should be hot and one wouldn’t, and those two would be the two you would attach to the doorbell. I’ve had friends call in an electrician to install a wired doorbell because some houses have some pretty strange wiring. What I love about this doorbell is that it can run on battery power too, so you have options.

That’s what I used. My doorbell fits onto my wood trim, so if you are drilling into something like hardie plank be sure to use a drill bit that won’t crack it.

It depends on how often it is recording. I'm testing one up by my gate and it's picking up motion all day long. The battery died after a month because of that, but I believe Ring says you can last up to six. months between charges.

Not with this one as it doesn't connect to your existing doorbell at all. The Nest doorbell cameras will connect to your chime, but Ring uses its own chime you plug into a wall nearby.

@@ShellyWutke604 I ended up exchanging this for the smaller version. Supposedly, I can upgrade the doorbell transformer (once I locate it) and it can use the existing chime.
