Thank you for this video! I have two blink mini's, a Ring video doorbell, and many video alexa devices. We are FINALLY getting rid of our overpriced security system that we got bamboozled into, buying out our contract, and getting a lower monthly cost system. I already pay for the Ring basic plan and its still saving us a lot switching to the Plus plan (going from $67/month for a system that barely works, to a $10/month plan for something I've had success with for at least our doorbell). I was trying to figure out if paying the lower cost for the blink cams was worth it, this helped me decide to stay with Ring, I do like the app better than the Blink app for sure.

A great video a lot of good issues brought up. I got my blink mini a month ago for $20. Got the free one month subscription which was fine so I decided to keep it going. Yes it's $3 a month for One camera but for a year it's only $30.😊 Still it's well worth it. What's the meaning it turns on a few seconds after you detect motion. So you lose like precious moments if somebody enters your property. And also got this clicking sounds I read that it's infrared lights that go on and off. It is annoying I don't want to alert people in the hallway to know it's operating. Does anybody know I can turn this off this sound? Also red green or blue in front of the camera is also a top off to the squatters who are illegally occupying two apartments in 3 family in Brooklyn New York. One has been have been making threats an intimidating me mentally financially and physically. Yes I call the cops I go to the meetings and none of them really give a damn about how seniors who are being abused. Are politicians out here don't give a damn about our safety. For the past 3-4 years I got only have a video recording of a small Bunker Hill video camera in the hallway but the resolution is poor. I hope I can survive their abuse and threats. I'm 72 years old and I was attacked by one of their friends when the New York mayor offered hotels for the homeless. And these two refused to go to Manhattan to live. So they just scaring the crap out of me. I contacted at least 16 senior citizen agencies they don't have a clue to how to help me. All because the person doesn't live in my apartment but in the apartment upstairs. In this 3 family l inherited. Yep no good deed goes..... I hope to God to survive and get some justice... My medical bills are over $135,000. Thank goodness I have Medicare paying almost 80%. What can I say I'm in pain every day with a shattered knee cap and meniscus

Great video! As one having the Ring security system for me it only made sense to go with Ring cameras as it's just less hassle then juggling (2) apps to see what's happening. Now I do know people that have and use the Blink outdoor battery cameras and they love them for ability to put ANYWHERE due the battery power and last for about a year before having to "swap" batteries and having the Blink "bridge" is an absolute must for multiple cameras. Most people I know gripe about the "cloud" costs with Blink. As far as doorbell cams there are a TON of them out there and some are better than others and that depends on features and what works for YOU. As far as indoor "powered" cams I've been experimenting with the SwitchBot indoor cam. It only stores video on an SD card and allows you to view live anytime or playback events off your SD card currently for free! However SwitchBot products also require a $49 HUB to be able to view while not at home (not on your local WiFi). This indoor Cam is about the same size as the Blink Mini and is about the same price and like mentioned - NO cloud costs. This is the only reason I mention this brand and may be worth checking out for some viewers as my girlfriend does not like the features or LACK there of of trying to use the Blink Mini without paying. Remote playback off the SD card is also a smooth experience with the SwitchBot cam. Wyze is another great choice and all it requires is an SD card to watch events if you go for the free mode. You still get motion alerts but trying to view the SD card footage on local/cellular/remotely can be rather cumbersome at times! As Safewise mentioned there are MANY options out there and I'm always "experimenting" with different brands myself! Are Ring and Blink the best? I would say NO but they do get the job done and I'm happy with that and 1080P is "enough" for me to see what's happening while NOT at home. Do you own homework and determine what's best for YOU!

Yeah, but with blink you save $120 a year. I’ve had ring for years and the amount of money I’ve paid in subscriptions is mind blowing. In today’s economy cutting back is essential. I installed a blink system at my parents a few years back and for its use it’s all most of us need if your just trying to monitor your home while your away. It works great and I’m sure since Ive installed theirs the cams have gotten better and improved. It’s all preference I guess. I can do without all the bells and whistles. Some people think they have to have it and that’s cool again it’s all preference. For me I don’t leave my camera on 24/7 because I have kids and dogs and the ring notifies me every minute so it’s all disarmed when I’m home and when I leave I cut it on. Blink does this very well so that’s why I’m ditching ring and saving $120 a year. Put that money in the vacation pot.

do have an "updated version" on this video? more specifically comparing Blink Mini 2 & Ring Indoor Cam 2nd Gen, and subscription plans each of them offer (I am interested in video recording and storage of both, on how long the plans allow me to keep videos, and how long I can keep without a plan). Thanks!!

I have the blink doorbell and outdoor cameras, along with the subscription. I'm not impressed with the doorbells recording time of only 10 seconds and 10 second retrigger time between recordings. A lot can happen in 10 seconds and the cameras will for sure miss it! I'm looking into getting ring instead but I'm not sure if they have that same problem...

Tested Ring, Blink and Arlo; and some Honeywell stuff. No Nest or eufy though. TBH I think only Blink doesn't use propietary batteries. The Ring app and the doorbell ability to configure monitoring zone in the field of view is good. Costs more, but old school wired system with cameras, door\window contacts and motion sensors running on wire power with battery backup and ability to monitor over the web via app or browser, with option for monitoring service is the best. Blink is not expensive, but has no door\window contacts or motion sensor like Ring system.

I bought blink cameras because I needed something battery powered, and am not able to run cables to the locations. I also needed it ASAP and didn't have time to research. It'll work for now, but I hate how it misses things motion, even on high, and doesn't continuously record, so if it misses something, I can't just wade through the footage. Also, like this video said, the app is very basic. Does Ring have battery powered cameras that continuously record? I don't care if I have to change/charge the batteries more often, as I don't have that many cameras.
@asksafewise
@asksafewise 11 месяцев назад
Ring is a lot like Blink but without the long battery life. It's also pretty simple and you can find a handful of battery-powered camera options. But after the 30-day trial, you'll have to subscribe (min $4/month) to get the most out of it

I own both ring (2nd gen) and blink doorbells. I prefer Blink because the battery is less ballache, for some reason the motion sensors work better, I really like the sync 2 module, and the app has less junk on it (as in it has what I need, not a load of stuff that only gets in the way).

We have 3 blink minis, a blink doorbell, and a 6 blink wireless outdoors. I love how easy they were to install, but I hate how bad the battery life is. I also feel like even with the sensitivity high, the camera still missed events (people pulling to the driveway and whatnot). I’ve been thinking about replacing all of our blink cameras with Ring cameras but don’t know if it’s worth the switch.

Blink cameras are terrible. They record light changes as "activity". A shadow should not count as "motion". Would be nice to arm and disarm cameras individually rather than one big chunk. Like I don't need cameras on my backyard recording nonstop but it would be nice to have the ring cam record all the time. They have a ton of work to do before these are worth my time.

Blink is way better in all aspects compared to Ring. Your review is very biased and leans so much towards Ring. And the comparison is a bunch of repetitive nonsense. Buy BLINK, you won’t regret it!

Blink is the most user unfriendly camera set up I've seen in a long time. Poor battery life. Missed recordings. Unable to arm and disarm cameras individually. Records shadows as motion.

I have to say that I disagree to a certain extent with this. As the first comment mentioned, I hate that I can't have it set to only turn on ONE camera at a certain time. Recently there has been increased activity where I live and I'd like to turn on my doorbell cam during the night without turning needing to turn on my cams inside. I also hate that with Blink you HAVE to have a Module in order to access more features with the doorbell cam, (that being said though, I haven't used the Ring doorbell either so can't say it's not the same way.) I love my Blink cameras, they allow me to watch over my place while I'm away at work! Buy my doorbell is something I wish I would've done more digging on tbh.

I find the basic premise of this presentation, that somehow Amazon's ownership of both brands is some kind of "trick" designed to confuse the public, to be both misleading and downright silly, and it distracts from the factual comparison of the products. Also, this nice lady talks way too fast. I had to download this video in order to play it at a slower speed to be sure I wasn't missing something factual aside from the "grand conspiracy" theme.
