Hi Noel, I have the same suit. Felt amazing in the beginning fitted like a glove. Went one size smaller then what I would normally take. After a few months water started filling up very easily in the sleeves and sometimes even when I wipe out. I thought it was my imagination, a mate of mine also bought one same problem. Always used Rip Curl suits stoked on how flexible the suit is, not happy with the amount of water filling. The wetsuit is now with Rip Curl.
I live in Ocean Grove,Victoria, Australia and have this suit in the E6. We get pretty chilly down here during the cold months I’m surfing pretty much every day and I wore this suit all winter. It was fantastic! I was warm ( I added a pair of wetsuit boots and hood in extreme cold) no leakage and it’s still in very good condition for 12 months of use. Rip Curls customer service is second to none, I once had a chest zip fail and took it to RC headquarters in Torquay. The pleasant sales guy told me a week for repair, I got a few Kms down the road and received a phone call saying my suit was repaired! Same day service, you can’t ask for more. I’ll ALWAYS be buying Rip Curl from that day.
Have used this suit all winter in Australia in water 15 to 19 Celsius (59 to 66 Fahrenheit) and found it a great high performance lightweight suit. In the colder temps feet were going numb before getting too cold through the suit. Like Noel's I had some leakage in the left underarm. Stitching had either come undone slightly or was never right from the start as it leaked from day one. Rip Curl fixed it quickly under warranty and now the leak has gone. Not as quick drying as their flashbomb suit so if surfing daily/multiple times a week you will be putting it on wet. Once hung up squeeze the legs and arms a few times over the first hour or so to get the excess water out helped drying times significantly.
I just ordered a medium Tall I’m 5 11 and 180. I use a medium tall on quicksilver zipperless. I hope the size is same for this and that it’s better than the quicksilver high line zipperless I was using
Is it just me, or anybody else noticed Noel surfing a HS board that really looks like a Hypto Krypto?? If that’s really a HS HK, I’m stocked for the review!! One of my favorite boards ever!!
Noel, great channel, really love the content. Can you please review the best surf-skates. I have seen some episode where you are teaching different technique while using them for carving and bottom turns. I am planning on buying one but i have not seen a good review from a great surfer
Nice review man! Im surfing at Malibu and Manhattan beach i have the e bomb E6 and it’s getting cold with that suit pretty fast i have the Medium tall size and water always come inside the suit at some point when falling from the board or just duck diving. Thank god i have drylock x booties that are helping my feet stay warm a bit
How long do your wetsuits last? I surf 3-4 times a week year round and mine don't last more than year/year and half. By lasting, I mean no flushing and pin needles. Also, imo those zipless suits get super loose around the neck after six months because there's no zipper holding it closed.
My suits last 1 season too...however I usually have a few suits in rotation in 1 season. On my 4/3mm suits the neck doesn’t stretch out much on me... nothing noticeable
Main surf brands won’t last you more than a season... at least none of my suits has... but I tried my friends Patagonia suit and it’s in good conditions after 3 years and he told me that it has lifetime warranty... if there’s any problem you send the suit back and they repair it for you... but his, 3 years after and it still looks new... he surfs about twice a week... I’ve heard that Feral, Isurus and Vissla tend to last a while more than those main wetsuit brands. I currently have the Hyperfreak from O’Neill which IMO is stretchier n comfier than E-bomb series but it’s not that reliable... started having issues with it after a season (surfing once or twice a week)
The 4/3 hyperfreak feels like a 3/2 wetsuit, it’s like magic what they’ve done, but it’s not the warmest and not the most reliable like I said... but definitely the best one I’ve ever had by miles!
Best suit movement wise, got the 4/3. It's easier to move in than any 3/2 I've had. Leaked in both arm pits bad after 10 surfs. Sent it back. Still leaks but not as much. Value is bad. But the upside is high with comfort flex. Getting it on and off is so easy.
Another great review Noel! This question can be for your and hopefully to all your subscribers...How do you compare the e7 to the e6 model? I've been reading some concerning complains about the e7 model, specifically about leaking and resistance of the neoprene and stitches. Do you guys believe that are some issues with this new model? Please keep doing those awesome reviews. Thanks in advance!
Both my E6 and E7 suits leak in the arm pits after 15 sessions or so. I think Rip Curl is working this out….. however the E7 offers more flexibility and the comfort is next level but the E6 is a little warmer. In my opinion both suits are not warm enough in 4/3 for our winters here in So Cal for my likings. I’m a bit of a baby when it comes to cold water.
I also got the E7 to look and see if people had the same issues as me. For 400$, the e7 is definitely not good. It’s comfortable but it doesn’t do what it’s suppose to do, keep you warm. I had my vissla 7 seas for 2 years and it is warmer then my e7 that I used for 3 months… like Noel said, water leaks through the armpits, not only that the sleeves get blasted up my forearms during heavier surf… overall I would stick with the vissla 7 seas any day… half the price and way better then rip curls overpriced suit.
My first rip curl heatseeker lasted 3 months before leaking through seams. 2nd one lasted 2 months, same issue. Zipperless system let's water in too. Using billabong wetsuit now , much cheaper lighter, and more flexible.
Anyone in S.n. S.R. does anyone knows what happens with surfers Tyler Morris, & Ben Coffey, for the simple reason I caught some tasty sets with them when I was passing through SantaAna Calf.?
Nah, nothing rip curl lasts or is cheap..they fall to bits and are hideously overpriced, Billabong are doing some good suits at the moment as are Vizsla and Xcel, not rip off Curl, no way, sorry!!
