As a life Cowboy fan and resident here in Dallas we already know what to expect next season. We have actually turned into Steven A. We know now know no matter what round of the playoffs we will lose. That’s just the reality that we are coming to here in Dallas.😢

Skip, I have been a Dallas Cowboys fan since 1961, also. I was 8 and would sit on my daddy's lap and watch the games. One of my top memories was when Jerry Jones bought the team. He came to my town, Corpus Christi, Tx, to visit our Miller Light distributor soon thereafter. When interviewed by the local press, he said, "Cowboys fans deserve a winner!". He promised us he would do everything possible to deliver us Super Bowl trophies Well, he kept that promise until 1994 when he fired Jimmy Johnson. Now, his ego and making money mean more than Super Bowl trophies. Why is his ego more important than Super Bowl victories, and, most importantly, what did we do to deserve less? I can't be a fan of the Cowboys or even the NFL anymore. With all the : 1) Bogus referee calls that are now deciding games and even playoff berths and outcomes. 2) Gambling influences. 3) Legislating away defensive football. 4) A less than honorable commissioner who has judge, jury and executioner power. 5) A team I have lived and died for my entire meaningful life acting more like spoiled Prima donnas than grateful athletes. 6) The star on the helmet has become meaningless. I could go on and on..... Thanks for your honest emotional sharing. I feel your pain more than you know.

I would have payed for a pay per view of just watching Skip during that game.

Raised as a cowboy fan and gotta say I never understood the hype. Being a fan has just kinda been more of a hindrance than a positive facet of my life.

Trouble with following NFL teams is that you are essentially forced to be a fan of the OWNER of the team and their particular decisions and product. It really isn't about Dallas or regional, it's about a product that is owned by someone and they are putting out their wares, that's it. Maybe Greenbay is the only exception. Regional pride kind of goes out the window because you can't control the vagaries of this or that owner or ownership group.

You're wrong about the '89 Washington team. They were not defending Super Bowl champs. The 'Skins won the Super Bowl after the '87 season. The 1-15 Cowboys team in '89 beat a 4-4 Washington team that had finished 7-9 the previous season. That 13-3 win by Steve Walsh was not a monumental upset. That 'Skins team was in a run of four losses in six weeks. Dallas caught them at the right time.

I like listening to writers when they read their own material. Skip was a writer first, and you sure can tell. Good stuff, even though I've been against them ever since the America's Team stuff came out in the 70's and an obnoxious classmate was a fan of theirs. (that's all it takes)

At least next year we will have a tougher schedule, so we will know if the team can play strong opponents before playoff time. We play the 9ers, Steelers, Ravens, Browns, Bengals, Texans, buccaneers, and lions. We should know what kind of team we have come playoff time. Playing a bunch of weak teams gives a false representation of what the team really is.

Just do what you can, Skip. Just ask someone in the organization, front office or coaching staff, why the three Dallas pass-rushers #11 M.Parsons, DT#97 Odighizuwa, and #92 Armstrong failed to put up their arms & hands when they were closing in on QB Jordan Love and had perfect golden opportunities to prevent (but failed to prevent) long completions. With 13:22 left in 1st quarter, DT#97 Ogighizuwa broke through but failed to put up his arms & hands and thus failed to even attempt to deflect the pass or even just obscure the QB’s vision downfield. 23-yard completion was the result and the route was officially on. Ditto with DE#92 Armstrong with 3:03 left in the 1st quarter and a 26-yard completion on 3rd & 9 was the result. With 1:38 left in the 3rd quarter, Micah Parsons broke through but failed to raise his arms & hands and 38-yard TD pass was the result. They could stand to use how DE#90 D.Lawrence caused an INT week 18 at Washington with 1:47 left before halftime as an example. D.Lawrence indeed raised his arms & hands while closing in on the QB and the INT was the result. Now Week 17 vs Detroit with 1:52 left in 3rd quarter, Cowboys had the football facing 3rd & 11 when Detroit LB#46 Jack Campbell did the Cowboys a favor by blitzing, getting a free lane to the QB and failing to raise his arms & hands while closing in on QB Prescott, and a Cowboy 1st down was the result, as was a game-tying FG three plays later. But then Micah Parsons returns the favor with 14:21 left in 4th quarter, when with Detroit facing 2nd & 13 on their own 22, Parsons broke through but didn’t raise his arms & hands while closing in on QB Goff, and a 65-yard completion was the result. In week 5 at 49ers with 13:26 left in 2nd quarter, Cowboys were only losing 7-0 at that point. But on 1st & 10 DT#97 Odighizuwa closes in on QB Purdy, and again Odighizuwa failed to raise his arms & hands to atleast make an attempt to deflect the pass or to simply even obscure Purdy’s view, and a 38-yard TD to George Kittle was the result. Two Cowboy greats from yesterday-century in Too Tall Jones & Haley’s Comet always charged in with their arms & hands in the air when closing in on the QB (unless they were blind-siding him), and those two helped big time in helping Cowboys reach some combined 10 NFC Title games, six of which the Cowboys won. Leon Lett always raised his arms & hands when closing in on QBs as well. Cowboys must use the week 18 INT at Washington with 1:47 remaining before halftime and what DE#90 D.Lawrence did to cause that INT as the blueprint of how it’s done.

As a fan going back to 78, I have never been the entitlement stricken cowboys fan, rather someone who watches and hopes each year but Ive always been realistic. It’s fake fans like skip that make true cowboys fans like me look bad. Please yes pick another team so I don’t have to be embarrassed sharing a team with this guy. They win a few and he starts setting these unrealistic expectations up, so his frustration is his own fault.

I saw 4 Cowboys SB wins, so I just can't get too upset about this 30 year slump. That would be silly and greedy. I understand why younger people are out of their minds though.

The team has fatal weaknesses, which can be exploited by any good team. Some poster said it best, "its like having a Ferrari which seizes up when making a left turn." No matter how fast that Ferrari, a Camry is going to beat it, unless there aren't any left turns.

If Parsons was on a different team, he would be the greatest of all time.
