How nice to see the late Derek Watkins one of the finest lead trumpet players this country produced

I was the Floor Manager (Production Manager) on this show which we recorded in the afternoon on stage of the BBC TV Theatre, Shepherds Bush. - The show was usually live but Hansi and the band had a concert that night.

A little behind the camera story: At the end of the recording the band did there big finish number with Derek Watkins on trumpet blowing his socks off and at the end of the number the director (who I won't name) came into my ear and said he wanted to shoot it again - I whispered back to the gallery that I didn't think that was a good idea (I used to play the trumpet - I was not within a thousand miles of Derek but knew that it was a blow and a half) but the director insisted and I had to go up to Hansi and ask - he hit the roof. It was then that Max, who was sitting with Terry called me over and asked if upstairs was asking for a retake and I said yes. Max then beckoned the boom mic to come down to him and said "Here, Mister Director, you're not a trumpet player are you??" (or similar) Thye director wouldn't back down and Derek said he had enough lip left to blow it again... memories.
