As his little sister (biologically), seeing all of these videos showing love to my big brother is everything to me! Thank you guys for supporting him over the years 💖
Condolences to you and the family. Aaron touch so many people with his incredible skills but made him great was his humility. He never thought he was better than anyone. Rest In Peace King 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🥁🎼
I was just randomly scrolling through RU-vid. And I couldn’t believe my eyes. This can’t be true? A true drumming legend. Things won’t be the same without him
Aaron was my friend and one of my earliest inspirations as a drummer. When I was 13,14 years old I used to go out to DC to drum sheds with him and Jamal Moore and I remember he gave me a drum key necklace and told me to never stop practicing! He was a solid dude all the way and he was truly a legend! Rest in Heaven to one of the greatest drummers to ever do it!
There will never be another one like Aaron Spears. Today I went back to his zildjian live and when it got to the Walter Hawkins "I'm going away", that's when it messed me up. R.I.P Aaron Spears thx for everything 💔💔💔
I met him while I was working in Sam Ash when it was still on 48th street. One of the nicest and most humble dudes ever. Always showed love and never made you feel like he was above you even though he was a Giant in our eyes. He will definitely be missed.
He straight up re-introduced that style to the world. The cool thing was he did it in a more explosive and bombastic way, then he told us where he got it from. Now so many drummers got put on because of the style he made up. The brother really transcended the game. Got homies listening to Radiohead and stuff….🥹🥹🥹 we thank God for you Aaron.
Prayers of comfort and strength for his family, everyone who called him a friend, an associate, and to all of us who had the pleasure of hearing his joyful noise!
So unbelievably sad to hear of Aaron’s passing. Never got the chance to see him play live but when I heard this it literally blew my mind. So much pocket, so much musicality and technically brilliant.
I legit never felt shock like this before. His passing took all my words away and all I could do was pray. It felt like I lost a big brother whom I’ve been patiently waiting to meet for two decades . I rarely cry over people I’ve never met, but when they’ve legit influenced, not just your playing, but your way of thinking, it hurts man. This guy is the reason I am the drummer I am. I’m %100 sure my playing would be drastically different and for the worst, if I never encountered Aaron Spears. Rest In Heaven Big Bro 🙏🏾💜🙏🏾
I must say this got to me real hard. He was the first drummer I saw that made me serious on the kit. This particular video was the exact video that made me love him, now I'm in tears seeing that he passed on. His linear groove were amazing. RIP my GOAT!!! 😢😢😢😢😢
Like everyone. Shocked to hear about Aaron’s passing. This was the video that got me hooked on his playing. He lays down such a solid funky, hip hop groove. On a standard size kit non the less. Such a great young talent, who will be missed.
2:24 melted my head when I first heard it. I have this performance on DVD. It’s from like 2006. It was an all star lineup of the gospel guys at the time that were playing with mainstream pop artists. I have watched it hundreds of times. Aaron floored me. Always does. We as the drumming community are blessed to have witnessed his talent in our lifetimes. We are also truly blessed to have a record of his greatness for us, and the many drummers of the upcoming generations to also witness and study. Aaron is a legend. Go be with God sir, but the ghost of your drumming will live on in this realm forever♥️🔥
The drumming community has lost a gentle man with some big time chops These are sad times. I love this video. After I saw this the first time I started using 2 hi hats and I still use them to this days . RIP Aaron 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for posting this. I've known Aaron since 2004 when he became usher's tour drummer. He was always a smile and upbeat bro! vicious on the drums. but more importantly a good person. It's rocked our whole crew, from the band FRO to the dancers, to Ush' and his family. I pray comfort to all that knew and loved him and share in this heart aching moment! Aaron was a faithful believer in God so I know we will meet again! R.I.P. I like you will selfishly miss him and say Gone too soon!
Rest in peace you gave us so much to strive for man this dude was awesome the older I get the more people we lose it just gets harder and harder and harder
I didn't even know about this. Wow. I am saddened to hear this. I lead towards metal drummers but Aaron was one of those guys that transcended genres. A truly gifted musician and from what everyone says, an even better human being. RIP
Aaron Spears is my damn hero. I was so lucky to meet him back in 2017 and he was the coolest, kindest guy you’d ever meet. Rest in Rhythm to the legend 🥁
I typed this as i was driving , i didnt mean to type " drunken ". Didnt want to disrespect anybody or anyone from his family. I dont know how he passed or was i trying to say anything about him being drunk. It was a mishap and a typo. I changed it to "drummer community " and admitting my fault . Prayers to the Spears family ! 🙏🏾
The fact that you got to talk to him , says alot about what you knew about him off stage and on stage , he was a game changer in the drumming world and his personality was simply the best , hope drummers can learn from this and from his famous quote , its nice to be important but its important to be nice ...... much love ... Rest in Peace my friend/brother Aaron Spears .
Wow this is legendary man. I hope his family finds peace and comfort beyond this whole situation. Ain't nobody like Aaron spears. You'll definitely be missed and felt for your impact in the music world
I appreciate Aaron for his work on and off the kit and it didn’t matter how popular of a drummer you were he showed the same respect and kindness to all drummers I only wished I got to talk to him in person not just online Aaron from the bottom of my heart thank you for sharing your gift thank you for showing the next generation of drummers love and thanks for who you were as a person a great husband, father, producer, leader, music director and musician
There are legends in every industry. But among legends, every once in a while, comes along a uicorn. A legend of legends. Aaron was one such drummer. May his soul rest in peace..
I heard the news and was shocked🤯😮, He was the drummer at my church FBCG and he was so sharp on the drums. Songs sounded like a live recording every time the band played. I'm just shocked because he was a nice guy.
I got the alert today while at work when I stopped by at the rest area to clean something. Had me so confused not believing it for a sec but sadly, it really happened. R.I.P dude.
I met him at the age of 14. He was amazing then and became a great in the music world. We personally lost touch but I followed him on social media. So I watched him grow. You will be missed. A great person. Rest in Paradise Brotha
I met him back in ‘06. Wish I knew then how great he’d become. After meeting him RU-vid started to expand and his videos were everywhere. He was literally one of the first “RU-vid Drummers”. He was my #1 favorite next to Tony Royster Jr. So sad to hear this man.
I'm sorry for your loss, Joshua. It's humbling to see who's inspired and lended to your development and the way that has translated to your inspiring and bringing encouragement and joy to the lives of others. Mine included. Thank you for posting. I'm grateful for Aaron's contribution in the Earth.
SLEEP IN PEACE! To one of the greatest of all time to touch a drum set. So much Inspiration and always kept other musicians on their feet ! GOD BLESS HIS FAMILY AND PRAYERS TO THEM 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Wow i didnt know, really sad about this. One of the first drum videos i watched on youtube when i was young. What an inspiration he was. I remember having thst video on repeat. Unbelievable drummer. RIH 🕊 🙏🏾
0:22 “one of the g.o.at’s” for sure. Likely my personal fave. I first saw him drum in church in 2005, saw his work posted online at least 15 yrs ago. Dude most definitely should be in the drummer Hall of fame. Rip legend 🙌
First of all I'd like to send my condolences to his wife and family. Never met Aaron in person but I'd wake up every morning and listen to him. He got me threw alot of rough times and you'll truly be missed. 😢
This King will be missed but not forgotten. I wish I was able to meet him in person. But know that he was a man of God and you saw it through his musicianship. Blessing! Respect Josh!
Noooooooo!!!!!! Aw man I didn’t know he passed away. I used to watch and listen to him to play… He was live!!!!!! That man can play and I always would try to play the style of drumming he did. Rest in heaven bra and condolences to his family
I’m so hurt by this death. My kids grew up watching modern drummer and they said he was the coolest one and they wanted to be like him. I’m so hurt by this death. My condolences go out to the family.
Aaron was a pro on drums and had mad skills for real. He was a real dude, humble and cool to what I would call unmeasurable. Whatever you think is cool, he was that. His pops was speaking at our church years, ago in Los Angeles and Aaron happened to be there. He made his way up to the front when church was over and took the time to meet all of the band members and anyone else he got close enough to. It was humbling for all of us and an amazing display of what kind of person he really is. A musician's musician, he will be missed by many but not forgotten by any...
The shots are taking so many young lives, it’s more than sad… but he had to take them in order to travel in his profession as a world renowned drummer. R.I.P. Aaron ! Thank you for all the love.
I cannot believe it. I was watching one of the videos yesterday and one today, and then I spotted that he had passed away. Shocked. What a great drummer. Very Sad
I remember first seeing this video back in 2010, it is my most-watched drum video and I have seen a lot of drum videos, it helped improve my drumming. Thank you for everything Aaron Spears, you will surely be missed.
