I think I am the type of person she is describing, but I don't really do that to hurt people, so I am not sure if we mean the same thing. The "turning cold" thing, to me, it's more of a consequence of the fact that social interactions drain me, cause I feel like I need to put on a mask and be somebody else, which is exhausting. When I am with someone I trust a lot I really just want to shut down and turn any interaction to a minimum. To me that's a sign of intimacy, I don't do that as a form of manipulation or tactic, yet many girls have interpreted it that way and I haven't really been able to properly explain to them how I felt, so in the end we just ended up going our separate ways everytime. At the present time I try to actively avoid becoming too close to a girl, in a romantic sense, because I fear we might get to that stage again and I could end up hurting them. So me giving the "cold shoulder" now means that I feel like I am getting too close for comfort. I feel like I am never going to find someone to be with.
