@@skummtoons6686 it was good, I enjoyed it. Knew most of the stuff from watching documentaries and also being around then, lol. But I thought the movie was good
Yes, I hope they make it like in the MCU/DCEU where everything and everyone is connected. After the Dirt with Motley, Metallica or Guns N' Roses should be next and in the same universe as with The Dirt movie... something like that.
I don’t like how this documentary is portraying Nikki’s mom as such an angel, and Nikki as rebellious teenager. His mom was a neglectful, abusive mother. Nikki built his career all by himself, with the help of his 3 brothers in the Crue. That’s it
Actually lucky they had Nikki. Nikki made this happen. The dude couldnt even play music, but damnit, he was gonna be a famous rock star. Nikki should teach a college course of how to make it in the business. I reminded of the verse in primal screen that says it all. "IF YOU WANNA LIVE LIFE BY YOUR OWN TERMS, YOU GOTTA BE WILLING TO CRASH AND BURN." He just simply refused to be denied.
you write this to piss off i went to see all the shows they did in canada and i went backstage and mick played guitar and your post is completely stupid and mean i saw it and heard you don you're not a fan you just wanna put mick down you're an asshole and you piss me off
Dean Fox, I couldn't agree more. I believe Nikki's playing has always been fake onstage. He never overdosed on heroin and no band would get rid of a singer from Mott the Hoople and keep Frank Ferrano.
I was a Marine and 18 on leave and went on heavy metal day, a Sunday. I knew it was going to be crazy when my friend and I saw a swami guy sitting on the ground by a fence with a cardboard sign saying "weed 4 sale". What a crazy time that was
I remember the first time I heard Shout at the Devil, I was addicted to these guys! I had no money so I would borrow the cassette tape from a friend, buy a cheap blank, then play the cassette on a player and record it on another. I remember having to tell my kid brother to keep quiet while I recorded! LOL!
Shout at the Devil was what got me into Mötley. Parents didn't approve of an 8yr. old listening to em, but we just went over to a buddy's house. His older brother was a huge fan. Eventually leading to them giving up & leaving the Metal music thing alone.
I think it had alot to do with there not being so much technology. People truly lived in the moment instead of being glued to the their cell phone to try to document the moment. Idk though! It was a diff time for sure, and I wish I couldn't experienced it too! (Born in 89 lol!)
stephenmac23 68 yr. old baby boomer here. The first concert I ever went to was Black Sabbath back 71. I've had the pleasure of seeing a lot of classic bands and enjoyed them all. The best live band i ever saw was the WHO in 76. I was literally speechless when the show was over. I seriously doubt there are any groups now days that are that good.
I'm a 54 year old black dude.... Raised up on R&B, and Rap. The first time I heard of the Crue was from a friend in 10fh grade. He had his biology book cover made of Crue! I was like, " look at them wild ass b****""!" He told me that they were dudes and Awesome! When I graduated I moved in with my childhood friend (R.I.P) Todd. He had posters if them everywhere on his walls. I started reading up on them, and there life style was like ours. All party and no food. Cheese and and bacon soda in the fridge. I joined the Army and did my time, but the Crue kept rockin'! I finally went to the Dr. Feel Good concert with my Temple, Tx heads in Austin, Tx,, and that was off the charts!!! "Warrant" opened up, followed up by "Judas Priest"😎💯😆😱, And then MOTLEY CRUE!!! TOO MUCH EXCITEMENT IN ONE NIGHT! FEMALES EVERYWHERE!!!

I've been listening to this band for 30 years.. I was 18 and a senior in high school when I first started listening to these guys, and now I'm 48 and I still love them! Their first 2 albums are still my 2 favorite albums that they put out!
I'm a year older than you from Detroit. Definitely agree with you on the first 2 albums were the best. The first being my favorite. Thanks for the comment 👍

Mötley Crüe are not HS I don't want to be mean but if you find that Mötley Crüe is HS you must be HS they are still popular if you don't want to know anything about Mötley Crüe stop writing they are HS listen your music and let others listen to Mötley Crüe Apple Betty
Wow. Crue gets a lot of hate, judging by the comments. They wrote basic tunes with catchy choruses and wore makeup. So what? Home sweet home, too young to fall in love. I liked their hits.
I’m 61 and been watching them continuously since the US Festival. I had leave from the Navy and lucked out because I was from South Carolina but was stationed in San Diego 🤟

Whats 3 people with ”talent” if they are not nearly the same driven as nikki. Respect for nikki. He had visions and made them come true by hard work and a genius brain.
A MUST see for any true CRUE fan who wasn"t in L.A. at the birth of the worlds best ROCK SHOWS EVER KNOWN TO MANKIND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rock On Crue.... Thanks for all the choice memories..., ALL the Love AND Respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Metallica and Megadeth had AND STILL HAS 1000 times the talent than these middle school boy band freaks. Mick Mars belonged in a much better band. He was the only talent.
Born in 77' and found the *Crue* in my early adolescence... I feel that my generation was the absolute best time to grow up in. We saw the advent of computers, gaming consoles, cell phones and probably the best music in history!

I saw the Crue at the Beacon Theater in NYC with my friend Julie and they were actually opening for Quiet Riot. When QR took the stage, everyone in that theater booed them right off the stage, chanting M O T L E Y...M O T L E Y...until they came back OUT!! While I was writing this comment, they mentioned QR and I'm surprised they didn't talk about that night at the Beacon!! I will never forget it for as long as I live!! Determined and never letting go of Their DREAM low and behold.. MOTLEY CRUE!🤘🏻
I remember when I first saw this band, at a Monster of Rock concert in Stuttgart Germany and was like who is this band all dress up in make up and tights, my buddies and I were like all pump up for AC/DC, Van Halen, Ozzy, and Ronnie James Dio so when Motley Crue came out in the beginning of this fest, they Kick it up a notch thats for sure considering the line up, Well I suppose I became a Fan of The Crue from then on ...... This was 1984 and what great memories i have from that day for sure... all I can say is from watching this video is that when your determined to live out a dream you keep plugging along until all the right pieces fall on place and the rest is history........
Haha I heard that whenever they played Germany back then, the crowd would chant their name with the “correct” pronunciation, due to the umlauts. True or False?
Mick Mars didn't have any trouble at the UsFest. He was a pro and carried these guys on his back. A great guitarist. Most of the crowd can't hear squat anyway.
Between the dirt and this documentary I see Tommy Lee in a new light. I always viewed him as a loud mouth, inconsiderate D Bag. But at heart he seems like a sweet person

Back in 1986 I was in a record store in Hartford, CT, I was standing next to Tommy and did'nt know it. I look to my right, "Who r you with?" "Motley Crue" --I helped him find the cassette he was looking for, "Thanks man!...I've been looking for this since we left LA!"

Tommy's younger sister is awesome. Great documentary. I never seen this one before. Awesome pictures and old footage. Nice work 👍👍After seeing this, how can you NOT like them. I'm glad for being a fan since SATD.
Me too. It's kind of weird to think they were at their very beginning then, because even us up in the Bay Area knew who they were. We were more puzzled by the last-minute inclusion of Quiet Riot. The US Festival was almost certainly the most amazing event I will ever attend in my lifetime.
Yes they worked very hard to get where they are today it just shows hard work pays off know one thought that they would make it big and they showed everyone that said they won't go to the top and they did and still are making it good work love this band just love them from phx az rock on

while I was never much of a fan of these guys, I have to give them credit, in the age of Wham, and Spandau Ballet, these guys kept rock&roll seedy and disreputable, and as a bonus, authority figures, really hated them!
What a great video. I’ve liked the Crue since I first heard looks that kill, and I’ve never seen a detailed history of their childhood and early days like that. Awesome job.
I own this on Vhs and recently put it to dvd!! Awesome piece of History from my favorite band. I purchased it at a record store in Hollywood. It was Hand written label like a family vacation trip you recorded on video. It even said poor quality on it. Motley Crue-1st show-poor quality picture!! I purchased it at the same store where i got my Leathure record. I still have that also!! Oh man, I was on cloud nine that day scoring stuff from the greatest metal band. I think LA had like 400 record stores then. I dont remember what store. I had to watch my copy to at the same time as this to make sure it was the same show i have. Lol. Yep Nikki and the guys are killing it!! It came from a cheap consumer camcorder but i dont care. Im glad someone thought to record it. So thanks to whoever did this!!I This is Crucial Crue In the Beginning.
you mean Vince Neil is better than Vincent Wharton... Nikki Sixx is better than Frank Ferrana.... Mick Mars is better than Robert Deal.... and Tommy Lee is better than Thomas Bass
You are so right, FM didn’t play any New Wave in the LA market. KROQ was the underground radio station in Pasadena and became world famous! I was in my early 20’s at that time. I had just attended many area rock concert in the late 70’s and transitioned into punk and new wave. It was very exciting to hear something new and different. I remember attending a Madness show at the country club in Reseda in 1981. I also remember how cool it was to drive down the freeway listening to Rodney on the ROQ playing Institutionalized! It was a great time! The early 80’s New Wave was great!!! Congratulations on your million subs….long time subscriber. Thanks for what you do!!!

For the Motley Crue haters out there, the ones who criticize them (In their minds) for not being good musicians, watch this video and you’ll understand why fans, like me, never ever thought about them as being good musicians nor do we care. It’s about the look, the sound, the meaning behind the songs, the escape, the attitude. And it always will be. And you know what? They are good musicians. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I still remember going into a record store and buying the "Shout at the Devil" album when it first came out. When I first looked at it I was thinking "who are these chicks?" LMAO! Then, I ended up liking the album so much that I played it constantly. It would have been totally awesome to be in Hollywood hanging out on the Sunset Strip back then. I wish I hadn't lived so far North of there. I was in my room playing my guitar for like 8 to 10 hours a day back in the early '80s. Those were the ultimate days to be there in Hollywood and have a good chance of getting into a band and making it big. Dam...I missed out. :( I still like to make trips to Hollywood to go to the clubs and see bands there. There's still some of that magical feeling there left over from the good ol' days. At least the Whiskey, Roxy, Viper Room, Troubadour, and a few other clubs are still there. :)
@OZRIC1985 it is 6 years later and I'd like to know if those clubs are still there in March 2024? Your comment kind of made me laugh with you saying you wished you hadn't lived so far North of there because I wished/wish the same. Though you I'm guessing didn't live so far North of there that you couldn't get in a car and do a road trip if you could drive or had friends who could drive and had cars? My to far North from there was then, and still is now impossible even with a road trip, bus or train with a vast ocean separating me from those clubs in gloomy repressive UK where most people can't afford air fare or sea fare tickets further than Crete/Turkey, if lucky the Maldives for a week. I can't afford air fare tickets to anyway anymore with the cost of living having gone up so much. I once went to Florida as a young teenager and loved loved loved it, was devastated to have to return to dark ages backwards North/North West UK. I have though lived abroad when younger in Europe and a few Islands just off there before they became part of Europe and the day the UK joined Europe I jumped estatically with joy, my freedom pass doors wide open welcoming. And the day of Brexit and England leaving Europe insanely, well that was my coffin nailed and sealed. Money devalued, UK prices rocketed, certain products vanished from the shelves and those welcoming open doors within actual Europe now slammed in British faces. I truly feel trapped, held hostage, held prisoner, held under repressive oppressive dark aged poverty stricken backwards UKUSSR (made that word up, it is fitting) dictatorship unable to escape the crushing gestapo vice grip of the silencing how dare you even breathe UK!
Some may complain about how they left out the dangerous and stupid things they did and the addiction, but this is the story of the early days. I love this snapshot of the energy and promise of this period. They end this doc with the beginning of the craziness. And Mick stayed sane through it all.
"Motley Crue were just street tuff kids" , Lmfao they all came from the suburbs 🤣 Tommy and Vince did Ballet dancing in Tights, are you freaking kidding me? LMFAO.
Met Nikki Sixx at my first job at Big 5 in Southern California and took a selfie with him. Always trips me out to listen to Motley Crue and see him on videos

Around 28:45 someone said that New Wave was the biggest thing in LA sometime around early 1981, in the other parts of the US most of the songs that were in the Top 40 were either love ballads, soft rock or post-disco tunes
That’s funny, because other than blonde hair I don’t see any other similarities either appearance wise or performance wise between the two! They were 2 very different front men!
a great time and a great era. all came together for the four of them..along with all the other metal bands we grew up with..i can only imagine what their lives were like back then, and man how id have loved to be one of them!
