That so many people make money off of lying about ketosis. This is why Dr. Ken Berry refers to it as the Proper Human Diet. Should humans eat the Proper Human Diet? See how dumb that sounds? Lol.
Dr. Sten Ekberg goes into the science behind keto in depth on his channel. He's an excellent teacher and I'd recommend watching him no matter what sort of diet you're into. Bonus: he isn't selling anything and doesn't push any agenda.
Keto/carnivore diet saved me from blood sugar spikes, brain fog, bone and joint pain, depression, several skin conditions, hair loss.. and I'm just 6 weeks in! Never thought this could be possible
I am only 3 weeks in and my shorts literally fell off me yesterday. Luckily, I was still in the house. My sciatica is going away, my Hidradenitiis is now simmered down 75%, my insulin resistance is starting to ease back, my blood pressure went down because I get daily potassium a lot of days now, my brain fog is lifting. I am sure I forgot to mention a thing or 2. The only negative reactions thus far: my bp spiked at first until I added avocados and trout to diet and the next day it was solved. Also, I had bad bloating one day and discovered that too many cruciferous veggies will do that to me. I had to fast a little longer the next day until it went away. I haven't had any other issues.
You can simply do all of those by not eating commercial sugar. But a pure carnivore diet helping with joints and bones is just dumb as it makes no sense, it's most likely you stopped eating the junk that caused those problems.
41 years old .2 weeks into 20/4 IF and Keto and I havent felt this good and less hungry in over 25 years. I thought I was dying 2 weeks ago. Its like a miracle.
Started keto on feb 24 @ 170lbs and 30 days later Im 154 lbs . I wasnt fat except my gut which was attested to prednisone which I require because my adrenal glands dont work . My stomach is flat now after only 30 days . I feel great . Went in for my blood work last week , which I have every 3 mos since 2010 because of Polymyalgia Rheumatica, (now in remission) and Psoriatic Arthritis . My levels have always had flags and many aspects were outside normal ranges . Last week I went to my Rheumatologist to get my readings and she revealed her excitement in the fact my blood levels were normal for the first time since before 2010 ! She said "whatever you're doing , please keep it up . I also do intermittent fasting . This is so awesome . My inflammation is pretty much gone ! Between the prednisone and this diet my energy levels are through the roof . Im eating more than one meal now as I dont want to lose any more weight . THis is the real deal . 62 yo .
@@alialsarray7231 I fast 20 hours a day . I only eat one meal . My weight has stabilized at about 152-155 lbs . I have drank alcohol a few times and likely broke from keto but maintain the diet and maintain the weight . I went down to 142.6 but it was just to much of a weight loss so I brought it back up into the middle 150's . I feel great .
@@alialsarray7231 I can only have 30-35 grams of carbs a day to stay in Ketosis . . . Most of my carbs come from veggies, like kale, cabbage, and cauliflower. I do Vegetarian keto. I end up having to cook a little more. But my staples are eggs, Smart Dogs, heavy cream, MCT oil, low-carb protein shakes, rye crackers (1x day), and lots of veggies!
Thanks for sharing! This is really interesting for an odd reason. I foster old ferrets, and due to Marshall's bad breeding practices, most of them get insulinoma, which requires Prednisone. Then they get the dreaded "pred belly." Usually within a 6 months of that symptom, they die. I've been struggling to find any kind of solution to this. Now I'm going to talk to my vet about Ferret Keto. They have to have high protein, so I'm not sure this is an option. But something to explore at least!
@@cliffschannel2521 good work, I’ve also lost a bit too much weight and was wondering how you got your weight back up so fast? I have a hard time keeping weight on.
Ketogenic way of eating heals so many things. This is one doctor though I can't get behind when there are so many others who genuinely just want to help people and are not trying to sell things,
I'm 38, I have IBS, insulin resistance, slightly higher than average blood pressure and severe insomnia (by the way, i have ideal weight for my size and age, which basically doesn't mean anything). I started Keto, made a transition of 2 days by lowering carbs gradually on my meals until there was no more than 20g a day. Then i spent 4 days eating 3 meals a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner, with some snacks in the middle once in a while. At this point, my IBS was already much better, but i needed to eliminate some vegetables that i suspected were still keeping me bloated, so i went carnivore (cow meat, poultry, eggs and fish) for a week and all my IBS symptoms were gone, i felt more energized, more alive and the keto metal clarity kicked in. Also my hunger was less day by day and this prompted me to start intermittent fasting and eating 2 meals a day. So i did and reintroduced back some vegetables, dairy and some other things, every-time i had a slight hint on what was causing IBS i cut that food and introduced another. It's been 30 days since i started this, and now I'm doing 16 hours fasts with 2 meals a day within a 6-8 hour window (depending on my job and schedule). The results are that i lost 5kg, my IBS is totally gone, my blood pressure is normal, i sleep 7-8 hours a day and fall asleep easily and fast. I also do, occasionally, some light exercise at night, 15min 3 days a week. I can say this is the best I've felt in the last decade.
Isn't it GREAT to escape suffering with IBS and other GI disorders? Food is our medicine! For over 10 years I was in bad shape with IBS-D and 5 different doctors couldn't figure it out. I had GERD for over 20 years to the point it had scarred my esophagus. Keeping a food/health log ( as the book _Help for IBS_ by Heather VanVorus suggested), plus going on an elimination diet taught me what my trigger foods and drinks (and eating habits) were. Eric Berg DC got me started on healthy keto and IF 5 1/2 years ago. Dr.Ken Berry got me into carnivore and 'ketovore'. Dr.Jason Fung taught me benefits of extended fasting. Traditional doctors often say a person just has to live with IBS and it's symptoms. NO, you don't. Good luck on your good health journey
@@Robnord1 Thank you for your words. It has now been more than 5 months since i started this, I've kept going carnivore/keto, alternating between the 2. Using carnivore as medicine when symptoms of IBS arise. I lost 12kg since then, still haven't done blood work so i can't report on that. I can say that i feel great, and better than i was when i started this diet. I had some muscle loss due to intermittent fasting and not doing exercise. This is my goal right now, to gain weight in muscle mass, focusing on eating more protein (beef and eggs mainly). Good luck to you to!
Stop letting all these voices confuse you about diet and what you should and shouldn't be eating. Its much simpler than that and you find the answer through experimentation. Do elimination diets and find the foods that give you energy and that you digest well. (I say this as someone with autoimmune disease) Ive done every diet you can think of for a minimum of a month up to years and personally find quality animal protein, fruit and certain vegetables works the best for me. Everyone will be different based on your body and health concerns. The only things everyone SHOULD remove are processed foods. Eat the most minimally processed food you can and eat enough to meet your macro/micro nutrient requirements. Don't feel the need to be downing supplements. Most people need as little as Vitamin D, K2 and magnesium and B12 if you're vegan. Simplify! :)
Well said. So much contradictory information out there its overwhelming. I am going to add a bit to what you said: Cut out White sugar and white flour Cut out all oils except olive, avacado, coconut and maybe flax Cut out all processed foods Aim to get 30 g to 40 g of fibre daily mostly from non-grain sources Do those things and everything else is fine tuning. Experiment and find out what is best for you
Exactly the conclusion I came to after self experimentation for years now. There's a spectrum from vegetarian to keto that's just right for me. The common factor is minimal processed food. Basically a natural omnivore.
I RELY on Science by first running a lab panel or using one that pt already has and use my Optimal Blood Chemistry Analysis training. Next, I have clients answer a detailed questionnaire. I have clients submit a DETAILED Food Diary so I know what they are eating and also find out what foods they love, like, hate and avoid while also having them tell me how they react and FEEL after eating their food (and drinks) list. Habits and the way they eat. Everyone is an INDIVIDUAL! Interesting that What I’m seeing over the last 20+ years is a huge rise in Glyphosate toxicity! If they’re symptoms and food diary shows they consume many of the foods that are most contaminated with Glyphosate/Roundup use, I’ll suggest testing to see how toxic they are! I’ve learned to start North (with your mind) and work South (to anus). You cannot fix the end, with out starting at the beginning! The BEGINNING starts with the BRAIN and your mind health! It’s different for everyone and WORTH investing in one’s SELF, not waiting and putting off symptoms until you can’t stand it! More testing if needed and if indicated! Dedication and determination is key, but when a person starts FEELING and seeing a difference from being helped, gets the motivation flowing!…… 🙏
@@sheilasmith1109 If only every doctor took this approach to health and healing. Glyphosate toxicity, insulin resistance, and thyroid and thus endocrine system imbalance are some of the silent epidemics among humans who for the most part are unaware. It's now finally starting to become evident to more and more people thankfully.
Keto and intermittent fasting has been very positive for both my wife and I. In the first 2 weeks we lost a combined nearly 30lbs and have so much more energy now.
@@vict0ree Hell yeah. same been happening to me, been IF + keto + HIIT training 3 days out of the week. And the weight is melting off. Like half a pound a day lol
I love how Tom doesn't need to get a lot of clarification from Dr Gundry because Dr. Gundry's conversation is already so simplified and detailed in a story book sort of way. He's naturally such a good teacher. Extremely interesting. I will be listening to this again and taking notes this time. I was driving first time round. Thanks Tom & Dr. Gundry!
Tom you are doing a great job. I don't have enough words to appreciate your efforts. You are the "Lighthouse" for health seekers. I wish you good health and wealth.
Thank you, Dr Gundry, for year's I was confused with these ketons and have done so much work checking and testing in the labs. I accidentally bought your book, it came up as sales on Amazon and I thought, ok, let's see what he says: Thank you Dr. Gundry for your books, I bought them all after the end you made so much sense about mitochondria uncoupling, and lectin, that was confusing for me for year's. In your books you go into so much detail and so much technical. I love that you use so much medical terminology and proper explanation
Been a keto and no alcohol for 2023 , went from 320 to 240 , I was really strict in nothing with sugar nothing with flour. After 8 months I started eating flour and sugar again is been my second week eating sugar and flour and I can really tell my stress came back feeling tired and my sleep is pattern is bad I went from sleeping 6-7 hours a night to 3-5. Sugar and flour is poison. I'm going back to strict keto.
I've never been so glued to the screen as with this conversation! (I usually listen to these when I make food, but had to sit down with this one.) Imagine having a teacher in school like Dr. Gundry.
Same here! Dr. Gundry is the G.O.A.T. I wish he was my teacher! I have learned so much from just listening to his podcasts and watching his RU-vid videos. Thanks Tom for having him as a guest :)
The educational value of this conversation for the fundamentals of human health is just astronomical and off the charts. Thank you so much for doing what you do. This gives me hope for maximising my results in my keto journey.
This is bullshit...why . The body runs on glucose sugar , no way around it ! Dosent matter what diet your on the body covers that energy to glucose.. There is a new long term studies recently out that shares the new facts found about keto long term. Another example , keto is dangerous...you must come off keto often...if the body get permanent adjusted to keto and you have carbs , it will be catastrophic!!. And continuing keto is harmful because this diet is extremely inflammatory...which leads to cancer Fuck keto...it's a temporary fix
After 2 .5 months and 30lb.drop from 280 to 250 I can’t believe I don’t miss or crave the junk I was eating .I can’t believe I’m not starving . I have a 10hr eating window so far this is perfect for me!
@@CARNIVOREat60 It's ok to start off with a bigger window and narrow it as you go, especially if you have health complications. You don't want to shock your body too much.
Hands down the best keto interview on the internet!!! Must watch! I have been following keto diets on and off for the last few years but this interview blew my mind!
My take away is : you don't have to go carb free to get your ketosis metabolism working . JUST limit the window of eating to 6-7 hrs. and the 17-18 hour fast will do that for you. This is what I do but I only eat carbs at one meal in that window . (and grains only one week per month) (it's important to have BOTH ketones AND glycogen in the liver as energy backup and the dual metabolism to use either))
@Tony Bebich Pretty much the way I eat. Homemade (salt , sugar free)peanut butter my favorite low carb veggie. (saying no and ignoring hunger eventually turns off that mechanism)
I’ve been doing keto for about a month. So far I’ve lost 8lbs which has been wonderful, but I didn’t have a huge amount of weight to loose, I was mainly in it for the anti inflammatory effects. Funnily enough i have been gravitating to high quality sheep and goat milk cheeses and eating them as a large part of my diet with lots nuts and tahini and some veg and a little bit of meat. This past week I have been feeling the amazing high energy benefits of this diet, but hearing Dr. Gundry speak so highly about sheep and goats milk has really reaffirmed my choices! I shall continue with what I’m doing. Thanks for sharing this.
The key is to avoid processed food, processed oil and sugar. Periodic carb loading is necessary for long term. But IF and Keto are powerful to normalize your blood sugar levels and improve the immune system.
@@donnas5209 I don’t know if you were asking me, but I inadvertently intermittent fast most days as I never really have an appetite in the mornings. I usually eat for the first time around midday, but i listen to my body, if I’m ravenous before then I will eat earlier. I find too much restriction negatively affects my relationship with food. For example since writing my first comment I have introduced more carbs into my life in the form of humous and potatoes. They both are my favourite foods and it was hard going not eating them for those first couple of months. I agree that avoiding processed food is best wherever possible.
Some people say don’t eat potatoes… wheat I eat them immediately I digest and feel great . With beef etc the same. When I eat lentils I get bloated…so I eat what I digest quickly and feel good no matter what everyone says. Do the same
One of the most consequential videos that I have seen about diet. I listen to Dr Gundry’s podcast and have already read couple of his books (rest are on the queue). This interview certainly completes the puzzle for me by answering multiple questions that I had
Our predecessors didn’t spend so much time micro-analysing their food, they also weren’t surrounded by highly processed foods. Life was simple, you were hungry, you ate whatever was ‘naturally’ grown. Obesity was not a fact of life. Moral? Eat natural and just as much as to satisfy your hunger.
It seems to me that Dr. Gundry has a penchant for taking established ideas, calling them something else, "repackaging" them as a "new thing", and then selling them to you with the belief that you're doing something profoundly different. It's an amazing technique in "restatement" logic.
Gundry is a scam artist. His game is mix truths (fast more often eat more leafy greens, cruciferous veggies and olive oil) with a bunch of BS (lectins), impress you with big scientific words and then sell you crap you don't need.
Look up Ansel Keyes to learn the history behind how and why... he was a bully and cherry picked data to prove his personal beliefs in a study that has probably been referenced by the whole world by now. You have to take control of your own diet to be healthy.
I have been fascinated by mitochondria since childhood. They are not really "us", but little critters in our cells with their own DNA & when threatened, they save themselves. Makes perfect sense! We can work with them.
@@joserodriguez-pu9ev Many people do these long fasts. Dr. Boz on youtube recommends them. For me it's too draining on my muscle tissue. I think everyone is different.
Good video. Explanations were clear where I feel I understand better. Will need to watch again. I'm doing great since January 1. Down 10 pounds. Swelling down, blood sugar lower and I have been off diabetic medication since April 2021. KETO/Cornivore is the way to go. I'm 73.
Started 2 months ago, switched to omad and carnivore. 20+lbs down. Nearing my weight 10 years ago... 3rd day of a fast. Completely possible people just think it's too extreme and have been indoctrinated. Massively better all around, including the lack of depression which can't be understated.
I love keto, but because of an unsolved trauma in my body which causes histamine intolerance along with a whole lot of other stress symptoms, my body doesn’t cope well with keto right now. So I’m eating carbs in the most healthy way I know and try to fast, too. What I’d like to know is, when is the best time of the day to take MCT? With my breakfast or when I go to sleep and fast for several hours.
Mine goes in my morning coffee with 2T of grass fed butter. It helps fuel my body with ketones from the start of the day. Keto and carnivore since 2013.
This combined with cryotherapy could drastically increase brown fat composition and in turn increase longevity and overall health?! Great stuff as always Tom. Currently, I am building a business as a health coach so I can leave bedside nursing, and this is the kind of material that will help me help my clients' health.
Yes, cryotherapy or even better do the Wim Hof Method! It practically free! You just do a breathing exercise and cold showers, maybe even an ice bath! Wim Hof has as much brown fat as a teenager but he's 73!
Nice to revisit that pyruvate oxidation cycle, and be reminded of the marvelously inefficient but fat-losing and life-prolonging process ketosis triggers. It inspired my journey through orchem, biochem, and physiology. But the contemporary literature on nutrition was abysmal.
@TomBilyeu very informative! Dr. Gundry kept saying “cheap cheese” I had to add captioning to understand he was saying “sheep cheese”!!! - I didn’t understand the relationship with people in Costa rica eating beans. I wish Tom & Dr. Gundry didn’t just talk between them as if the rest of the audience is not there. They have read and understood the topics of course but Tom should clarify more for the audience who is hearing this for the first time!

I've watched it twice. I think the main takeaway is more of a fasting thing. Also eat goat cheese lol idk I was scanning the comments looking for clarity myself.
I decided to try this diet out, and I'm probably doing everything wrong. I'm going over 20 carbs a lot. I think I usually do about 40 grams a day. I've fallen off a lot. The processed foods are too tempting! But every time I start this diet I start losing weight IMMEDIATELY. The last 3 days I've lost 6lbs. I can't believe it.
I have eaten organic farm raised goat cheese for the last few years incorporating vegetables with lots polyphenols, grass-fed Meats eggs and lots of wild caught Alaskan salmon. Have had huge benefits to my health.
This past 2/3 years , I have been ill, and freezing cold, I have also lost 50% of my muscles and I'm 58/60kilo,s so started researching, I'm not quite ready to be going to the undertaker, I seen pictures of the keto diet and started eating as much as I could , I ended up with hi potassium levels, then I tweaked my diet again and would boil the sweet potatoes to rid them of some of the potassium, I had no idea potassium was just about in everything . Until researching. Its all about finding balance, I also do breathing exercises , I tried meditation but kept falling asleep lol. So stopped meditation and found daydreaming helped better and I didn't fall asleep. During the breathing exercises I imagine a bright white light coming in as I inhale and going out. I did have a white mass on my right lung and part of my lung had closed . Thankfully I managed to open my infected lung back up and got shot of the white mass. I found when I'm cold , even if the sun is hot , I was literally shaking with the cold , now when I feel that coldness , I will make boiled eggs and toast , and a salad of red pepper and beetroot and green leaves and make my own salad dressing, I also take garlic water , 1 clove of garlic in a cup of cooled boiled water , crush the garlic to release the alicin, leave to sit for to release the compound and then drink , and what a difference. I'm slowly getting my sleep back naturally
Bread and tomato’s aren’t keto, you probably weren’t in ketosis but low carb diets can make you lose weight like crazy it’s all calories in calories out! Congrats! if you want to go full keto cut out all carbs except fiber, try to stay under 20g of carbs minus fiber and take potassium, (nu salt) and sodium(sea salt) and mix it in a large amount out water, flavor it with true lemon energy or mio, get magnesium CITRATE, and take about 400mg it will help you sleep, if you’re not getting your electrolytes you can’t sleep and will get the “keto flu”, you need 4000-5000 mg sodium, 1000-4000 potassium, depending on what you eat that day.
We have to keep in mind that for some, it can take as long to lose the weight as it took to put it on. So in most cases 'Years' but each step up the ladder of reversal makes you feel better which is your reward and helps you to stick with the Keto diet
My wife and I have been intermittent fasting for six months, I dropped 15 lbs, 3 weeks ago went on keto, dropped another 10. Knees stopped hurting, don't crave snacks.
Dude I'm only like 8 minutes in, and notice that you keep cutting off the Dr on his sentences. Poor interviewer form. You really need to let your guest complete their thoughts, otherwise why even bother having them on the program? Twice in less than 10 minutes I'm left wondering what the Dr was going to say, and this is all important material. Is it that you already know all this, and just assume your audience does to, so why not just cut the guy off so you can rush to your next question? It's quite irritating.

i'm super fit, I stick to a rigid calorie counted diet, lean meats, vegetables, salads, no bs food. Every time i've tried to cut, even just to 2000 calories, it has been a complete struggle. Constant food cravings. I was fairly low carb, but always started the day with a big bowl of cereal to fuel me for the gym and ate 2 bananas a day. Now i'm doing it with Keto, once i'm past the first 4-5 days of feeling like trash, i'm solid. I'm on 1700 calories today and i'm not tired like before, not hungry, I ran 8kms and I have energy. I can think straight now because my brain is running properly on fat! Insulin was sabotaging my efforts to get a six pack, now I have the key! I won't do keto forever, I don't think that's healthy long term. But for bursts of 2-3 months, mimicking the winters experienced by hunter gatherers, yes, a strict keto diet is amazing, it shreds fat and makes it easy.
The problem is that producing ketones with MCT oil is not the same as entering nutritional ketosis. The body can produce ketones, but still be undergoing gluconeogenesis to produce glucose for the brain. In nutritional ketosis, the brain switches over to functioning on ketones instead of glucose. Provoking ketones in the presence of dietary carbs can actually raise blood sugar because the ketones cause physiological insulin resistance requiring more insulin to manage glucose, but in nutritional ketosis fasting blood sugar goes down because the brain has switched over to ketones and don't need dietary glucose or the liver to make glucose any more.
I'm slightly confused and have some questions...Growing up I thought having a slow metabolism was one of the reasons for fat storage and weight gain. Slow metabolism is ineffective, but also causing your body to produce more ketones makes for an inefficient metabolism. I guess I'm hung up on what defines a good and bad metabolism is. Inefficiency of metabolism means you live longer. With fasting and maybe taking mct oil could we eat bread again and pasta?! Correlation does not equal causation.
Having an incredible full-time position at a mom and pop nutrition store I’m gonna have to say this is one amazing video thank you for this content. I’m here in the store right now looking at the MCT powder and Keto Salt 5% nutrition product
I've been carnivore 7 years. No need for supplements. Perfect health at 67. No doctors no meds no illness. You're outta business when people stop eating plants.
To lose belly fat I'm thinking of intermittent fasting with some anaerobic exercise. I'll definitely drop carbs and increase fat, not sure how much protein though!
He missed one important thing- GLYCOGEN or stored form of glucose. It’s out bodies preferred fuel source after depriving our body of carbs. Only when glycogen is depleted will our body starts producing ketones to burn fats for fuel.
What are the implications with this when using a ketogenic diet to starve cancer cells and needing to block ketone pathways to mitochondria? Anyone else thinking about that?
That's a really good question and would like to know as well 🤔 Regarding Dr. Sarah Hallberg, she was strict keto (high fat/very low carb) and still got ♋...this is perplexing because I thought keto would help with ♋ because since it's low carb/no sugar it would help not feed cancer cells...wish there was more info. on this 🤔
Stopped drinking alcohol, doing intermittent fasting(8/16) and a modified version of keto with bit more healthy carbs(nuking all processed foods and almost all table sugar, for the rare exceptions in things like an occasional spoon of mayonnaise) and proteins, but all within the 8 hours. Started loosing extra weight, no sense of hunger when fasting, more clarity, more energy, less inflammation in general, less anxiety, more satisfaction with life... Alcohol was the biggest harm factor though.
Tried Keto and my performance got significantly worse. Good for weight loss, but not good for athletic performance. Just my personal experience, I'm sure others will have a different experience.
I don't understand how the whole mechanism of mithochondria multiplication and uncoupling brings about all the health benefits of keto, like the mental health benefits.
I had T2 diabetes, doctors did nothing, Keto solved it. In this time 4 of my friends who were very overweight are now skinny and one no longer on insulin injections. That's my study.
@Tom Bilyeu, your channel constantly offers up superb breakthrough information and education. the format you have with the "chapters" listed along the bottom so that you can then click onto each area to revisit, is superb. thanks.
This interview is very frustrating from a presentation standpoint. Tom you interrupt too much. You have the benefit of being familiar with the material and you aren’t thinking through what people need to hear from him, not what you need to hear again. And saying you have a problem with fat when your sitting there looking anorexic is kind of disingenuous. It’s almost like a big concept has already been revealed and discussed off camera and you guys are just rehashing it. The gun factory story.. neither one of you actually told us where the compound was coming from.. I assume it was part of the gun making process.. and what is the “Blue Zone”? be more intentional and not so assumptive in your discussions.
Give me a break....you are way rude! It's Gundry who has problems with being verbose and rambling....if not for Tom, I would not have watched this video at all. I was thankful he at least tried to rein him in and keep him on track....although it was a fruitless endeavor, ultimately. And most athletes are pretty slim....get a clue.

im just curious, and id love it if anyone could answer it: so he says the mitochondria is told to waste more energy on keto, which should leave us with less energy overall, how come most, atleast EVERYONE ive talked to, say they get so much more energy and no energy crashes during the day at all?
He explains later, the ketones are a stress signal that causes the mitochondria to reproduce, which (this is my own editorializing here) I think may help them produce more balanced energy, lower blood sugar, and potentially slow the growth / product of inflammatory fat cells.
I bought something from this Gundry fellow awhile back (can't remember what it was) and thereafter was hit with a perpetual avalanche of marketing messages promoting his products.
Im kinda new to the topic of keto diet. So the general statement is: You can actually eat some amounts of sugar in your diet but it should be within a limited timeframe (7h) ? But why is it then still considered a keto diet when keto diets are severly limiting the sugar intake? Or should your diet still be limiting the sugar intake?
Stephen Gundry was a forerunner in the modern age of the ketogenic diet... but he can't roll with the facts that keep coming out. Now, he's just another person who takes factual information, and twists the interpretation to fit his agenda. He has books to sell.
Hmm, so how many heart surgeries have you done....? Ahh, just as I thought, zero! How about ppl like yourself who think they are Dr's now just because they have a smart- phone (or in many cases, dumb-phone), or expert meteorologist's, or Political analysts. Yes, the guy sells books, it's called getting paid for your expertise and sharing knowledge. Also, and even him and his guests have said that these solutions or ideals are not one size fits all, so it's up to all of us to see if this stuff might work for us. That's all..
Don't worry, they only try to confuse you in order to sell you something (like this guy's book). You see this in the news all the time; "Fat is bad!!!", then the next week "Fat is actually good for you!". You should never buy into this crap and always take "scientific studies" with a grain of salt. When it comes to building and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, just exercise regularly and have a healthy and balanced diet. Going on strict diets to lose weight is always doomed to fail because you will regain what you lost once you start eating normal again anyway. But if you just eat mostly clean and just eat exactly what the body needs, you neither gain nor lose too much weight. I ate a whole potato chips bag and a of chocolate yesterday and it doesn't harm me at all because I am highly active with walking, running, and weightlifting.
Don’t eat Food with labels. No sugar. No grains. No proceed foods. Not high in carbs. No high GI. Eat your carbs at the last meal. Prefered after a workout.
Me as a Muslim hearing Abu the fasting window tome and finding it fits perfectly into our fasting from dawn to dusk. we do it 1 month in the lunar year and then it's a habit of our prophet to fast Mondays and Thursdays .( all prophets of ALLAh had a fasing rituals) ,and I think. Dear LORD you are all Great Almighty..May you lead all humanity to the right path
Fasting belongs to the life cycle like winter in the four season cycle. It is time for using stored resources. The religions only apply that what comes from the Nature.
"99% of Obese people cannot shift to burning fat," Here is the first lie. I'm 370 lbs. I've done KETO and it works, but it's a very demanding diet, and if you only do it for a few months you tend to gain back the weight. I haven't been trying to lose the weight, yet. I'm getting a doctor recommended mobility scooter, and applying for SSI, right now it still benefits me, but I already do low carb, and plan to return to KETO. It is the only reasonable way to lose weight for someone who wasn't born with the gene that lets you eat anything and not get fat.
Keep at it! I began keto six years ago (61) at 325lbs and as of today, have lost 113lbs and honestly, it's not been difficult. It took over 40yrs to put on, so a six year stint shouldn't be too much to expect for long term benefits. Personally, I want another 30lbs off, and I'll do it by keto & alternative days of fasting. Keep going ... Be warned though, it'll cost you in a new closet-full of clothes!
65 minutes to hear him say goats cheese and purple sweet potatoes... But the potatoes would surly kick you out of keto... I was left with more questions than answers.. Honestly my heart screams high carb vegan, but my body screams inflammation.. Just trying to find non trigger foods. grains, green, nightshades, histamines, mucus causing foods are all a no... uuughhhh...
I found out that I always be cautious about any diet and just started experimenting different diets. I lost 40 Ibs on low carb diet and never been on pure keto diet. Now , I enjoys my sweet treats only fruits without the sugar from the processed food. I also try to eat my rainbow vegetables either raw or cooked. I usually fast between 16-18 hours moat of the days. I have not gained even 1 Ib since I switched to add fruit to my diet.
@@mayfar4961 Have you noticed any difference if you consume veg raw vs cooked? I am glad to hear of your success, it gives me hope.. I think if we really listen to our body, it tells us what we need to know.. They say our gut microbiome is as unique as a fingerprint.. To me that would suggest there is no right way for everyone to eat, it is all individual and we need to take the time to figure it out for ourselves..
I eat both raw and cooked vegetables, but mostly raw as salad. yes, everybody's metabolism and microbiome is different from another person. And, every body should listen to their body. But, for sure process food , lack of sleep and stress are main contributor to gaining weight.
