This was such a great video, as it truly captured the jubilation, exhaustion and camaraderie involved in a day such as this, and what it's probably like for so many people. I have seen some folks say that they think it's juvenile to "want to be the first" to do something, such as the first to be on this ride. But some of the people at Disneyland's opening of RotR -- including Adam -- had already been on the ride in Florida, or been to the Media preview, so it's not about being "the first" just to say they were the first. It's about sharing the whole experience with friends and strangers, and the general communal vibe. It's about the palpable excitement in the air. It's about laughing from joy, and getting delirious from a lack of sleep. It's about being there on a historical day, when a game-changing attraction debuts to thousands of people, and seeing their happy faces as they pass through the exit. It's about making memories. I would have been out there myself if it had been possible!
We got group 75. My wife was there at 2:30. I was there at 5 with our 6 year old. Lots of memories were made that day. The best part was the whole ride experience and getting miscounted when they were assigning colors. The CMs never dropped character. My kid started laughing and they laser focused on him. We were in the interrogation room for a good 4-5 mins with the trooper fidgeting the whole time. It became comical. Wouldn’t have missed the first day (including seeing you and your group and the Jolly Holiday) for anything. At least you got to go home..... and...... oh you can finish the rest. I’m going to back to sleep
Crazy thing is to ever ride it you need to be there at 6-8 or whenever rope drop is to get a boarding pass. They're all gone within 5 minutes. Still like that in Florida and it's been open for a month or two. Then you gotta wait around all day till your group is called.
I rode it in Disney world. It was total worth it. But they do it differently. I got there about 5AM got into the park around 6AM. App went live around 7AM and the groups were in Numerical order or we were 28 so I rode about 9:30. The groups wrapped at 121 which was scheduled for that night.
Patience you must have if you want to Rise! My goodness 18 hours? And, I still wish I went. Awesome job capturing the madness of the opening at Batuu West. I love that everyone on the west gets the chance to ride the experience now.
Thanks again TheDailyWoo for letting me see "Rise of the Resistance"! This was even better than the WDW opening. I have been a lifelong Star Wars Fan. Yes...I stood in those lines in '77. I was a die hard fan even when Stars Wars was kind of a joke in the late 80's-early 90's. I will never get to enjoy this ride, so I enjoyed it here!! Long Live Adam the Woo! I can tell you are a lifelong fan also. You use the same movie quotes my brother and I use. I can't believe what a late boarding time you had even after being there since midnight the night before. That blew! Can't wait for convention time! I pray you will be at Dragon Con again!
People may critique you guys for standing out in the rain for 18 hours or tearing up when recalling the bewilderment of the ride but in to be able to see people all collectively sharing in whimsy, fantasy and happiness amidst a world of divisiveness and anger is so refreshing. This ride is the pinnacle of all of Walt’s ideas and is a culmination of the little spark he set off in generations of imagineers. Seeing everyone big-eyed and walking around in childlike wonder is honestly remarkable. To be able to bring people back to their more innocent selves and make people believe in magic again is what makes me come back to Disneyland again and again. Thank you for sharing this video with us Adam. Makes me feel more confident in my decision to pursue a future in imagineering ❤️
I think it's amazing the way the ending incorporates the real world environment of Batu when the escape pod crash lands. So cool how they recreate the landscape and vary the lightning with the time of day.
Rise of the resistance opening day. Massive crowds. Can’t get a boarding pass until 8am and they are gone in seconds. Me: Go if you must. In bed I will be. 🛏 😴
Way to go Adam! This is what you call "taking it for the team" with the team being your viewers. Waiting that long to go on one ride even though it was hella worth it would drive me nuts. Don't know if I'd be able to do it That's why I'm living through you buddy
My wife and I went on Saturday the day after the opening. We got there at 5:30 AM and they let us in the park at 6:30. We were lucky enough to get into group 69 and waited until 3 o’clock to finally get on the ride. Like this video shows half the fun was getting there early and hanging around in the park while we waited to board the ride. It was a very fun experience. As for the ride itself Disney went all out and didn’t hold back. Totally loved it.
Adam, I didn’t get to get on ride, I got in park @ 830 but I got a chance to meet u and get a picture with u and Spencer from best life. You guys were all so nice. Thank u
First of all, it’s great to see Justin Scarred in this video. Second of all, my friend, who got connections because of his girlfriend who is a Disneyland cast member, rode the Rise of the Resistance in preview week. Even though my friend is not a Star Wars fan, I heard that he enjoyed the ride.
This was by far the best Rise of the Resistance opening day video we've watched. You did such a great job covering the excitement of the crowd pre-ride and the reactions of people post ride! Excellent work!
The Disney employees are terrific! Not only keeping everyone calm and controlled, but even being entertaining. Seriously, these people deserve a raise! Disney does not appreciate them enough. But seriously I would not put myself through this for any reason. I will wait 6 months or a year to see this.

I’m so relieved that, even though I kept watching a bunch of videos of this ride, that it doesn’t matter. I will have a blast (no pun intended) in this ride. I’m sure I’m gonna be an emotional mess, crying like Dylan. I can’t wait to go on that ride with my sister.

I stopped the video before you got on the ride because I still haven’t ridden it yet and I want to experience it real and not through video, but I’m so glad you guys made it on the ride! I was sitting near you guys for a bit while I was painting and y’all were making jokes that you weren’t gonna make it on and about how tired you all were! Honestly speaking, showing up at midnight for a boarding pass you can't get till 8am is ridiculous, but that light saber Monorail is awesome. Why come so early when arriving at 6am could put you in the same exact spot?? 😆 #StarWarsFans. And then standing all day in front of Rise of the Resistance waiting for your boarding group to be called when you could do other attractions while you're waiting is absolutely hilarious. I would've been there at 6am, got my boarding group number and found several things to do.

This post is brilliant. Perfect. And Adam could have gotten cool reaction videos in 30 min, then leave and see two great theme parks. Why stand out in front of Rise? We left. Enjoyed the amazing parks. Came back when called. Even got great video reactions from many in my 1 hour i spent in GE.
Crazy how you wait for Star Wars Rise of the Resistance Opening day during the rain! That's so amazing on 3:05 - 3:35 Star Wars Monorail! Amazing ride glad it's very similar to Hollywood's Studios!
Great ride plus sleep deprivation makes grown men cry! Well done Disney! It's a shame it did not open with the rest of the land but if it did it may have caused heart attacks!

Waited 12 hours to get on the ride today, we were 4 groups away before it shut down a second time and almost didn't get on after waiting all day but we finally got on it and it was the experience of a lifetime..
I saw A LOT of people tearing up at the exit of the ride when I rode it so its likely for ugly cry to happen. I didn't cry but fantastic ride like no other you've been on.
why? I have been a SW fan since the original film came out in '77, and I was 19. I am now 61 and got tears in my eyes just walking in to Galaxy's Edge the first time back in August. I was amazed. There is nothing wrong with emotion.
when emotion catches you, it's hard to hold back. I don't mind showing my emotion to anyone. The young man was caught up in the "moment". What's the big deal.
Outstanding video! You guys were totally making us tear up as we sit in our DW hotel watching - tomorrow is our day at Hollywood Studios crossing our fingers we are successful in making it into a Boarding Group at Galaxy's Edge - our very 1st visit!!
