haven't even play a hour of dragons dogma 2 or played alone in the dark as much. stopped playing final fantasy 7 rebirth just for this game. I'm hooked too! a lot of xbox fans are mad because of exclusivity and will bash comments like mine or even some PS5 owners will talk about the graphics. I play in performance mode and it looks great to me. Even playing in graphics mode is cool so yeah this game is getting unnecessary hatred
@@SenecaSneed-pz9qethis game is phenomenal I love the nioh titles and ninja gaiden I’m currently playing wo long as well. And team ninja never disappoints me. I love all of their games.
I think they’re making some cuz their is martial arts that need to be filled still and they always do dlc for their games that are challenging and solid
What i love about Rise of the ronin is rhat it for the most part gives me everything i could want in my Samurai power fantasy, even more so than ghost of Tsushima in some areas, I also love the fact tgat it can be played as an unofficial Rurouni kenshin game.
The game is fun, functional and looks good. Those same fans bashing it, are the same ones who say “vote with your wallet” and they are broke in taste and finance.
The game is fun. But not worth 70 dollars. In europe it's 80 euro. You can't tell me this is worth 80 euro where are games that are much better then this.
Years of work for creating a video game that can be played for months. There’s so much work and people behind this. You’d go out for a good dinner at a restaurant and pay around 50 or whatever and poop it later It’s just an example
@@elitex5855it depends on where you live and what money you make. Where I live if I go out partying with my mates I pay around €80 for a round of drinks. For me to pay that for a game that gives me fun for 30-40 hours is a bargain….
Agree man. Feel like the bigger creators didn't give this game a shake before they made those impression videos. Im having a blast with the combat and how my story is playing out. Looking forward to ng plus
yup even fighting cowboy which was shocking but he’s having fun w/DD2. I got DD2 first but once i got ronin i never went back (don’t plan on it either)
You can actually fight William from Nioh in a cave by the coast in Edo. It's hidden, and the boss name is "Blue Eyed Samurai". He is one of the toughest mini bosses in the game. Hint: There is a cat nearby. Check the beach under the cat.
I think the point that people miss with the GOT comparisons is that even though GOT was open world it was still a linear story based around a sole protagonist so the presentation reflects that. This game is COMPLETELY different in that regard. You create your own protagonist, the story has player choice and can be changed to go in multiple different directions, AND there is co-op. There literally has NEVER been a game that offers all that with a combat system this deep that simultaneously has the fidelity and presentation of a GOT. It would be awesome but console gaming tech just isn’t there yet. Bashing ROTR for not doing the impossible is asinine
The special sauce it what sets it apart. The combat is so addictive and the open world is always rewarding so it doesn't get old. The freedom to approach encounters in various ways is also a major benefit to Ronin.
Actually an amazing game. Finished it on Twilight a few days ago and it was more fun than I assumed it'd be. I thought I'd get tired of some parts of it at some point, but I never did. It's just so fast-paced and smooth to play overall. I ended up enjoying the characters and some story moments an unexpected amount, as well.
Its baffling. The draw of TN is combat and this is thier sandbox. Sure the engine is dated and needs to die..but the people reviewing and hating dont even understand the whole point of the game is combat. Everything is built around it.
The problem is that is compared with ghost of tsushima and a lot of people dont understand that they are completely diferent games and different time settings, to me both are really good games
The masses of casual ghost of Tsushima fanboys were shitting on it from the get go. Then you got people whining about graphics when they look perfectly good. The internet gaming community can be extremely toxic, even ruin games reputation before they even release
I'm 44 years old so I come from the older gaming era so I'm with you I honestly don't see the problem with the graphics. the haters have to be like 25 and under. I still go back to old games and play not because of graphics but the game was simply great. Give them the old silent hill and some of these kids will lose their fragile minds lol
@@SenecaSneed-pz9qeI’m 24 the Wii was my first console played that on TVs of the early 2000s that had weighed like 30kgs and you needed the avc cables and the screen was so terrible I could hardly even see my game when it was night time in game than my next console was a Xbox 360 in 2012 played that on the same crappy TVs and only got a ps4 in 2020 but that’s never stopped me from enjoying a game graphics are what they are but gameplay is where it’s at and a compelling story us gamers who came up enjoying this hobby in the 2000s have toughed it out this was back when gaming wasn’t cool and mainstream like it is now but now you’ve got these people who hang out on ticktok and only buy something because it’s trendy and oh look at the pretty graphics and gamers keep complaining about why majority of games now are trash but everyone keeps buying the same games because they look pretty that’s why the games nowadays are hot trash anyway that’s one reason but needles to say if you didn’t play games back in the day you have no idea how far it’s come since than and ROTR is one of the best games I’ve played but it seems there’s some agenda against this game these top game reviewers regardless of those age are now parrots reading the same scrip.
Yes that's exactly how I feel, way of the samurai was a d still is one of my favorite game of all time and tgen they released katana kami witch didn't hit tge same but this game does it every thing I want from a samurai game I still do hope for a new way of the samurai tho or at leas a re-release
One of the best games imo. Ive been paying attention to the critisms of the game and of course there's comparising this to Ghost of Tsushima. Graphics might not be up there but the landscapes, to the cities has a lot more character to it and variety then Ghost has. Ghost of Tsushima might have better graphics, but how many times can I keep seeing the same two story building with the same "secret" vents that is laid out on an island full of forests? Not to mention how often i see the same Mongolian huts in their camps. Nah, Rise of the Ronin has Ghost beat in my opinion. Storywise, it may not be the best, but i think its somewhat historically accurate. Ill take the story over Ghost, in Ghost of Tsushima how much does the samurai have to talk about their moral code of honor, the whole game thats all they talk about lol. Its a nice fresh new take on the samurai genre in video games and team ninja nailed it. In Ghost of Tsushima, why is 1/3 of the island only in winter?
You commented exactly what I wanted too lol it’s all these fake gamers complaining or people being parrots repeating everything they hear game critics tell them to say
I am currently watching a show and I saw this link that brought me to this video. After 2 seconds of watching this vid on mute I am satisfied with the video. Thank you
Don't trust those rigged and crooked reviewers. This game is 100x more fun, fluid, and flashy than all those liars lied about. An open-world action RPS with incredibly thrilling combats, exploration, and choices to build diverse narratives
this was so on point. The way this game is being treated reminds me a lot of what happened when Days Gone first released on console. So many people wanted to compare it to TLOU.. That it just got destroyed by peoples unfair comparisons and expectations for the game. Years later though it's considered a cult classic. And we gamers are now crying about what happened to Bend Studios. We want a sequel to the game so badly now. Or a remake.. I find it hilarious. I listened to Luke Stephens go off on this long diatribe about next gen graphics and I wanted to throw up lol. You have a new sub buddy. Great vid
Robin is even still gorgeous...it's only ig you take the time to zoom in and look at leaves...like specifically Zook in and look for fidelity on leaves....if you just run around the world it's gorgeous
This is my favorite opening world gave. I didn’t enjoy wo long. The quality of life and customization is amazing. It’s just fun! I’m hoping for dlc and a part 2.
I genuinely don’t think Ubisoft map marker open worlds ain’t that bad games like Assassins Creed Valhalla Is just too big and I’m not even a fan of the combat. The Reason Why Rise of the Ronin and FF7 Rebirth works due to the fact that both games have exceptional combat and exploration rewards you for exploring. Between the 2 games they have an distinct identity in their combat and lets not forget Ubisoft themselves created is design to begin with
Map Marker makes it boring imo. Because it is more like repetitive work. Without any marker YOU play the the game and YOU decide where you will go (not the icon on the map) and everything you see or find is without the weird feeling you miss something because you not look for every icon.
@@SonGokuTribut I dont appreciate games with no map markers that forces you to go through tedium. Not everyone has the time to waste exploring when they dont feel like it. The Genuine best solution is when games offer exploration mode or Guided more for whenever the players feel which is preferred.
@@JylstinI agree ngl. I like no nonsense games (which is why I prefer linear to open world) that respect your time. However having markers and fast travel helps alleviate a lot of tedium. I just want to fight stuff, not go through every nook and cranny to see if there's something in there lol
@@Walamonga1313 It depends on the player, I like exploration and finding cool stuff but when I’m busy and don’t have time during certain periods would definitely want to progress through the main story as fast as possible and come back later post game which is why map markers help me finish games faster. Map markers respect the players time if the rewards are good. Big reasons why I don’t wanna try Elden ring and Breath of the wild is because there’s no real objective and most of the time it requires you to find them which can lead to frustration in my part. To me Horizon forbidden west is the perfect balance of Exploration as there are great locales and monuments that give curiosity while giving the option to guide the player to find hidden rewards and side quests
I saw somebody talking about how cool dragons dogma was to them and how he can really climb a troll and stab it where he wants to or something like that lol. He had the most forced look on his face ever
Thank you so much for this video. I soooooo much agree. Rise of the Ronin was such a fun game to play. I was also grateful for the game difficulty level as I’m not experienced or good but I was able to play on easy. It was challenging for me and I got better by the end. I also loved the story and characters. I also enjoyed Ghost of Tshushima!
You can’t even pay attention to game reviews anymore. Especially from the big guys like IGN and Polygon…they have their own agendas. This is an amazing game, loved it!
I think you need to be on some sort of copium to think it’s better than sekiro. You are reminded every so often on why the stealth mechanic is broken and the performance is godawful at times
The game is phenomenal. Haven't had so much fun in years. The sad part is that the majority of tasteless masses who just drool over graphics bring this game down, with the consequence of not adding profit to such an amazing game, thus making the probability of DLCs drop.
Decided to play on twilight. Took me 2 hours to get through the intro 😂 but feels good when you finally succeed . Got used to the buttons now so it got a little bit easier. Its a lot of fun!
Yep ... all of these RU-vid haters out here constantly trying to kill a game off before even giving them a chance... this game is easily no less than an 8.5 in my book....
Tbh they both are pretty good and they combats are they best but rise of the ronin combat is just on a different level I was shock an I decided to buy it today it’s still downloading I can’t wait to play it but how’s the story is it any good is it decent enough for me to still be thinking bout it ?
The game is incredible. It’s a shame so many people cried about graphics on release and constantly compared it to ghost of Tsushima when they aren’t even close to being the same games when it comes to gameplay. Game deserves more recognition
This one took me a while to feel the magic I usually felt playing the Nioh games or Wo Long. This was partially because the first 2 weapons I tried out in order to make them my main, Bayonet and then Polearm, wound up making me feel like I hate the game. I wound up liking the game again once I picked up Spear combat. I feel the Nioh magic again. And it feels good.
trust me on this one the people who hates on rise of the ronin and wo long fallen dynasty and lies of p is those people never parried something in thier life and they prob still watch asmongold
I haven’t bought the game yet and it looks amazing most of the things some people are complaining about are things I could definitely look past within 5 minutes of playing
Ngl i love this game.. but i have barely touched it cuz it came out with Dragons Dogma 2 which is just an amazing and one of the most immersive rpg's to date
Ghost Of Tsushima is one of the best games ive ever played but... having played Rise Of The Ronin now, other than graphics and budget I fail to see what it does better than Riae Of The Ronin now. Its actually wild how good this game is, not just the combat but the customization (free transmog too!) and the world and building of the world is exceptional IMO with a comparable stealth system as well. I dunno man... this might actually be Team Ninja's best game outside of Ninja Gaiden Black.
I totally agree with your video I pu game sat. And played a few hours and it's awesome.im into dd2 right now but I will keep playing rise of the ronin and try to finish ghost of tsushima which is also an awesome game I just enjoy and love being a gamer 😎
I am new to this game and I really enjoyed your game breakdown. I haven't bought a PS5 yet, but once I buy 1, it will be the first game I buy. Thanks for the info
I just started playing this tonight, just got through the tutorial mission before I had to turn it off because I have work tomorrow... but so far I like it alot. I keep hitting the wrong button to deflect because I just got done playing final fantasy 7 rebirth but that always happens to me when I first start a new game. I can't wait to get deeper into the game and start getting more weapons and stances and stuff. And yeah the fact that people are saying this game looks like a ps3 game is incredibly disingenuous. It doesnt have the greatest graphics but it's not a bad looking game.. personally I think the environments are beautiful.
As a person who knows history and a fan of mythological point of view of lore in the real world I get happy to see the real characters from romances and legends appear in the team ninja games. They do their research. Seeing the shinsengumi and their leader Okita Soji was absolutely awesome and immedietly made me change affiliations to shogunate lol. Historically accurate anyways. But damn phenomenal game, the mainstream industry just needs to stop smoking that shit activision, Ubisoft and epic keep cookin up lol.
I'm having a blast playing this . If ur a samurai or feudal japan fan , it's awesome . Yeah thw graphics are kinda meh but combat and all overall are great. The one major key aspect I like about ronin over tsushima is the fact there are cities and towns and not jist endless farmlands and fields. Also raiding the inn with the shinsengumi is a top moment for me
agreed! i never played neo but i did play wo long fallen dynasty and the old ninja gaiden on the NES and i have to say that rise of ronin is the best! i put down ff7 rebirth to play this game and i haven't went back to ff7 yet because im loving ronin so much
Thank you for an honest review, I felt the same as everyone else till about 10 hours in and it clicked, give it a chance the combat and story are awesome
It's a masterpiece and the broader initial reaction to it just demonstrates how many people have a shallow, transitory appreciation of games as a medium. They really are just playing games to experience a momentary rush of witnessing production values more extreme than the previous game they just played.
Gotta be honest. I saw the gameplay trailer and thought... eh. I'll wait for a sale. But my buddy let me borrow his copy and already have over 50 hours in 4 days. Totally hooked.
Hole you make a stellar blade demo review or reaction video. Demo WAS AMAZING!!! I LOVEEED the plot 🥵🥵🥵😉 in all seriousness the gameplay and visuals were awesome!
TY! The haters like FightinCowboy, etc., are just wrong. I love this game, and I hope it wins. Game of the Year! The history and story is interesting, and the voice acting is great! I love being able to fire canons, go to Dojo to practice my weapon arts, including horseback archery. This game is completely fine graphically. Whoever said it looks like Gen 3 graphics (FightinCowboy) never seen Gen 3 graphics. So this game is immensely fine graphically! On many levels, the combat of sword play beats Ghost of Tsushima. After the letdown of FFVII Rebirth, this game, Rise of the Ronin, is a relief and a lot of fun. For those who keep bringing up the horse in Rise of the Ronin, to me, it is a non-issue. I hope this helps.
I really like this game but I can’t agree with the statement “if you mess up it’s your fault” as there has been countless times where I have stealth killed enemy and for some reason takes me out of crouching mode leading to me getting detected. Also had many problems where I press the assassination button and it ends up doing an attack instead which once again leads to me getting detected. All together I think it is a really good game but some features need to be smoothened out.
I don't know what it is but it's fucking class, some updates for the graphics and it will be even better than what it is, it's a long game too, I'm in region 2 with 30 hours played already and it's just great, don't get me wrong the graphics do kind of bug you but if you can get past that it's amazing
@@cowel8734 I have done every single side mission without being bored. Run into every little quest like the ones where the guy will ask for help but is actually leading you to the rest of his bandits and especially the fugitives!!!
This game is great it takes a while to have you hooked but when you spend some hours you feel it Great story and gameplay I hope in the future they make it better with patches and people must stop comparing games it's not like ghost of tsushima but it has some inspiration from it and from sekiro Doesn't mean it's better but it's good for what it's stands for and its better than wu long by long shot maybe the same level of nioh 2 cos of its combat
I loved DD2 but aint enough for me to go for a second playthrough. RotR tho? Another Nioh like game for me, where I can easily spend thousands of hours. Hoping for DLCs so I can actually make some builds 😈
Wow this review might have just sold me! The graphics were a big turnoff after playing Tsushima recently, but this seems to have a lot of customization and weapon variety that I wished GoT had.
It's all a matter of expectations, people were expecting "Nioh 3" when Team Ninja were clear about the scope of the game and how it's completely a different thing. I didn't pick up the game on launch since it was the same day as DD2 and i thought i'd pick it up when it's on sale. Meanwhile all i heard are complaints and people trashing the game. I did buy it yesterday since I had some free time and wanted to have a break from DD. I'm totally surprised: First of all the game doesn't look as bad as people claim it to be, in fact it's the best looking game TN made so far. The open world even though it is "classic" and you have to clear up markers is still fun because of the combat/traversal Stealth is also decent and fun to engage with. Gameplay is the bread and butter of TN games and they actually delivered. RPG elements are simplified (as expected since this is an Open World game more than an RPG) but there's still enough depth if you're interested in buildcrafting. Story, while it's better and more engaging than previous titles, i don't play TN games for the story. TL;DR: the game is fun, people love to hate on things and expected Nioh 3
It is *not* the best looking game TN has developed lol. Nioh 2 Remastered looks and feels better + is better optimized. They have yet to touch the visual quality of a PS4 game remastered for PS5…compared to the PS5 exclusive. Even Rise of Ronin’s ray tracing mode can’t keep a stable 60fps. I remember thinking a couple of years ago “wow, Nioh 3 is gonna look phenomenal”. Then Stranger of Paradise released, then Wo Long…now this. For $70, compared to Ghost of Tsushima, Lords of the Fallen, Demon’s Souls Remake, FF7R, and the upcoming Stellar Blade…they need to step it up asap.
