That's basically how the old FPS games used to be like. Quake, Doom, Castle Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem, Shadow Warrior, etc, etc, etc.

Tim played most of this game, but I'm looking forward to dive in to this one A LOT! I love old school shooters with strafe / jumps, jump pads etc. Been a massive fan of Quake 3 Arena, so this stuff is totally to my likening!

No, this is not a free to play game, if anything it wouldn't make sense for it to be one considering that it's a remake of a classic game which was originally supposed to be an expansion pack for Wolfenstein 3D.

Apogee have got the rights to blood, and Scott Miller has said he wants to see Blood remade in very much the same way ROTT has been remade, they just need to wait for a developer to become available, Flying Wild Hog are tied up on rebooting Shadow Warrior, Croteam is working on Serious Sam 4, and Interceptor are sorting out Unreal 3's optimisation problems with ROTT and will then start finishing work on Duke Nukem 3d Reloaded, Blood Will get a ROTT style remake, but, we will have to wait.

as far as i know, Stephan Weyte is still working in the Voice over industry (i think hes in ROTT actually as a boss, or someone who sounds a heck of a lot like him!) and the original humour wont fall foul of censorship laws (unlike what has sadly happened with shadow warrior). so, hopefully, it should still be Stephan. Agreed, he is awesome as Caleb, and agreed i dont think anyone else would make being creepy so downright hilarious so he needs to be kept if possible. .

Gameplay is IDENTICAL (except there is now no limit on the number of launchers you carry), main differences are it now has voice overs, modern graphics, and a rock soundtrack (but the 94 midi music is still there as an option). oh, and the level desing is all new, still very maze like, but a bit more linear than the original, other than that, its very, very true to the original.

I know House of the dead played it like forever with my dreamcast =pp, but the gore in l4d2 is more detailed, and putting on realism mode, you can also have zombies with their stomachs blown off still attacking you.

Oh man I used to be so good at Quake. It got to the point that I was like 75% most games with the rocket launcher. And the Rail Gun. Damn I got good with that. That was harder though.

it should. the original Rise Of The Triad, from 1994, started life as "wolfenstein 3d 2" before ID pulled the plug so it wouldnt take away interest in doom. so Apogee just remade W3d2 as ROTT 94. the game wich has been remade here for ROTT'13. so the wolfenstein look is all part of the ROTT DNA.

I love gibs! Today's shooters are mostly realistic ones, I miss the classic ones with the gibs and your weapons not being 13943 variants of a machinegun.

Game uses the MEDKIT system. like the original, there is No Auto Regen. they just give you a LOT of health, as with older shooters, because giving you a "3 hits-dead" level of health would make the game "hard and dickish", the game is still very hard, even with the tonnes of health, but its hard but fair. there are a LOT of enemies, come on, level one has over 200 on its own! so you need the large health reserve to surive the number of enemies.

This game looks like udder garbage. The guy was fucking invincible, it sounded like thy used the same 3 guys to voice every enemy, and seriously just looked like it would be no fun at all.

It has to have an objective, like quake, get the flag, kill the enemy team x number of times... This one just seems like kill enemies til it's over, i can do that on gmod.. spawn 10k Combine soldiers and have at it. That's about how much fun i would have if i played this or gmod.

As much as i enjoy blood and gore in my video games, this game moves way too fast to really enjoy it :| Still looks fun though, maybe i'v just gotten too old for this sort of gameplay x.x

sigh, another day, another troll. no, it doesnt take 6 cores and 4 titans to run the game, but, i am sad to say it is pretty poorly optimised at the moment, its very choppy and unstable on lower grade systems, and even pretty high grade systems are getting issues. im not getting them as ive got the processor power to overcome the bad optimising, but, not everyone has. interceptor really needs to get the patch out to it will run properly on lower systems.

and a More Modern Engine. the latest Build Of Unreal 3. not a Mildly enhanced Version of the 1999 Build of IDtech-III. that means its got much more modern renders and textures to work with, and a faster operating speed. sure, its a bit of a Processor Hog. ive got it running a beut on Ludicrous, but i'm pusing my sytem (overclocked 6 core I7 with Bios crack and FOUR Nvidea Titans...) to the point the ether cooling is about to catch fire... but its worth it for the awesome speed it does!
