Great summary of the adventure, helped me a lot in the preparation for its beginning. It would be amazing if there were similar videos for each chapter.
Timing couldn’t have been better, I just finished running a combo starter LMOP and DOIP and weaved it into Hoard of the Dragon Queen (adjusting for all the fluff of course). As soon as we finished and I started prepping, boom, now have both books. Things continuing to work out in my favor.
As a brand new DM who thought it was a good idea to run this combined with the starter campaigns, I completely agree and am very grateful for all your work!
I didnt like how they introduced all these leaders together making me (DM) to RP with myself at points which i always find odd to do. I suggest anyone thinking of DMing this campaign to use the leaders as NPCs in different locations that the party needs to impress to gain their assistance in the attack. Suggest doing the same when consulting the Metal Dragons. Skill check based tests or puzzles to gain their power in the fight is more party driven than RPing multiple dragons for them and hoping they hop in.
This helps incredibly, even with just the history of the Forgotten Realms for someone who wants to fill their own game with stories and legends of the past, Amazing work! I can't wait to listen to your recaps of the adventures and your future work ~ Side note: You have a smooth and enjoyable voice, keep it up and good luck
6:37 I've read the module and this is incorrect. At this pace in the module, while it SAYS that the attack is doomed to fail there's a good chance with average party comp of the party getting outpaced. This is especially true because of the detailed plan of attack, which puts the party at a disadvantage. The party should start the module at level 8 according to the book, but the attack is overall CR 10, meaning it takes a couple levels before it'll be even possibly an average fight. Furthermore, the combined force has 100s of HP, well over what an average level 10 party could output in a single fight. Expect it to be much more swingy than the book outlines, but still capable of going in the party's favor if they're competent. Weirdly, although the second attack (Detailed at 11:20 ) is supposedly a midpoint between their reserved attempts and an all out assault, the module has an adult black dragon join the second attack but no such power during the 3rd. Though overall the numbers of the cult in the 3rd attack still make both deadly encounters, the CR calculation claims the 3rd attack to be slightly less powerful. So that's a thing.
Luckily in this whole situation I’m actually a dragon rider from the inheritance cycle and a half dog demon and Half human highbred Sister of Inuyasha.
Sir. As someone who loves DM'ing but is horrible at reading the entire book. I thank you for these videos. They are amazing. Please keep up the amazing work.
I totally get that. I'm someone who can't play video games much due to strong motion sickness so I love watching videos that describe the stories/lore of games. I'm glad you enjoyed the videos and thanks for the kind words!
