Test Flight of the fastest Ultralight in the world equipped with the Rotax 915. The Risen Superveloce produced by Porto Aviation Group.
Actually Risen equiped with 914 holds the world speed records approved by FAI reaching the speed of 400.45 km/h at FL100
(www.fai.org/records?record=po...)
An excellent work of aerodynamic research which, apart from the maximum speed, make it an ultra-economical cruising aircraft in terms of speed / consumption ratio
Inside the video you can find how it flies at different percentages of power.

I'm glad to see aviation finally making forward movement! The glass panel, Rotax 915, and the more carbon moulding process have been letting the engineering world go wild....

Aviation hasn't really stopped developing outside the US, it's just that the US has restrictive rules on ultralight & sport aircraft that prevent 90% of those devslopments from coming here. Also, unlike Europe our airfields don't have to have all fuel types available.

If trying to cross from Brasil to Europe, it may be (overall) longer but safer to fly from Joao Pessoa (most-eastern large airport) to Ascension Island (it is around 1240 nm, day 1), then from there to Liberia (860 nm, day 2), from Liberia to Canari Islands (1350 nm, day 3), then from there to Spain or even France (day 4). However, because of long stretches of ocean (Brasil to Ascension, and from Ascension to Liberia), I would do that only with some serious survival gear (raft, some emergency supplies etc) which would not really let me fly with someone but rather alone.

With the turbo at 10.000 feet it would be fast at 75% power! Ohh , and another point! The speed improvement comes from the shorter wing span. But that is good from sea lever to about 8000 feet or so. The stock longer wing would increase climb performance but make it slower at cruise. Above 8k the climb would not only be better but speeds would be faster than the clipped wing!!! Remember the 10.000 ' ??? It would outrun the shorter wing!!!!
@GeneralSirDouglasMcA
@GeneralSirDouglasMcA Год назад
I guess it depends on pilot preference. If a pilot plans to spend most flights at lower altitudes, the short-wing is better, whereas the long-wing is for those who don’t mind flying high.
@RobbieKiama

Often go to FL200 or higher for weather. Very glad Senorr Porto did the 915 mods.. If you live in Kansas and think 8500 msl is a good altitude to cruise, get the version w/o the turbo. Yes the 360 would be faster and cheaper to purchase but the risen service would be cheaper and definitely fuel consumption. The 360 at 75% I think is around 10 or 11 gph, this little thing burns around 7 to 8 liters at 75%.

@@danielbarnett6859 The 915 at 75% burns 7-8 GALLONS, but anyway when going somewhere what counts is the mpg or nmpg, not the hourly consumption. The performance is more than enough, but like many sales people, you have an annoying habit of not being up front with the price, a most important spec, I read it from the comments below is around $300 US. You seems to forget who ever buy it have to write the cheque. This airplane is too expensive, and will not sell well, the Rotax engine did not help at all. A big company , need lots of profits to pay for their overheads. The price of the Rotax make it even more unaffordable. There are many converted (100-150HP) engines nowadays for under $10. You are not the only company that tunnel visioned on performance, when the real difficulty is cost.
@andreacolomboairphotographer
you might be right, but first of all i'm not a salesman....i just try to show how an airplane flies. I have nothing to do with the company and that's why I don't want to talk about the price which is absolutely in line (indeed perhaps even lower considering the performance) of the competitors ... always talking about the 915.

I'll bet this plane is still super expensive, over $100,000, probably closer to $200,000. Aviation has gotten so expensive its really a rich man's game now. When are these companies with the development money going to research a plane using efficient, inexpensive construction techniques, and inexpensive parts to produce a plane for closer to $100,000? To say it can't be done is just dumb. Everyone is more interested in speed and performance than cost and accessibility. How do we train the next generation of pilots if none of them can afford to fly?
@andreacolomboairphotographer
an absolutely shareable and appropriate comment for the period we are living. An aircraft like this can even cost 300,000 euros. of course only the 915 and the garmin g3x make 50,000 euros or more. any aircraft with the Rotax 915 today exceeds 150,000 euros. Manufacturers are moving in this direction because the market pushes them. however, we must also return to the basics, at low costs in order to disseminate aviation among young people. otherwise, aircraft owners will increasingly have white hair. meanwhile I hold on to my autogyro
@brandonb417
@brandonb417 Год назад
@@andreacolomboairphotographer I don't think there's any reason to put such an expensive Garmin inside. And you don't need two screens. You really only need one with a couple smaller ones for radio and transponder. As for the engine, the 915 seems like a sweet deal. Bug even if you're talking 40,000 (915 with some cheaper instruments) it seems like the focus should be on the airframe and interior. They design the airframe to be fast, why not design it to be cheap? You could still do carbon, but build structure into the tool so its merely mating two halves, done. Carbon is more expensive than other methods because of the labor, but if you design the tool to have fewer contours it is easier to do. Plus, the cost of building in all the little backers, gussets, and other things really drive the price up, so design it to not need all that stuff. And make the interior optional, do we need carpet? Why not a cheaper solution? I'm thinking with all the brain power spent on performance and cost increasing measure go the other way, I'll bet it can still have good performance, but I'm sure many people would give up eye watering speed if they could just afford it.
@andreacolomboairphotographer
@@brandonb417 point of view that is absolutely acceptable, but it seems that the market wants airplanes as SUVs, and not as sporting objects for fun. Getting from point A to B in the shortest time possible and in total comfort, losing sight of what ultralight aircraft were born to do. I hope some manufacturers go back a bit.

This airplane is engineered so radically, it is cheating on its flight specs! Probably the most slippery airframe in the air! And cheating more, because there is not a lot of material built into it, the price is a steal considering what it can do.
