TSN Hockey Insider's Ryan Rishaug and Farhan Lalji break down what's been going on Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl's apparent fatigue and what's wrong with the Oilers.
@@kelseykjarsgaard5774 as a Oiler fan I have to agree the team that plays better will win. Oilers right now and every year do the same f...ng thing they don't show up.
Bouchard is all about offense and lacks defense. Nurse is being paid too much for what he delivers. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, despite being the first overall pick, seems more like a second-line player, or even third-line on most competitive teams. This team is not well put together and doesn't stand a chance against the Canucks.
I think overreaction. I am a neutral observer and until yesterday, Oilers were in control. They would have more shots or at least lead most of the time. looked in control. And then, game 5, Van did look better and controlled the entire game. Van played the best game in this series in game 5. So will see how it goes game 6. If Oilers pull it off at home it is 3-3 and anything can happen in game 7.
@@cobrachannel100Agreed. They said the Vancouver locker room was dragged down by illness at the start of the series, and the Oilers mainly controlled play but bad goaltending cost them. Now Vancouver seems like they’ve got that bug out of the room and took over game 5, but if you listen to the Oiler interviews it’s clear they are now all sick. Edmonton needs to really dig down deep tonight, sick or not or else they are going home.
These analysts keep ignoring the fact that Edmonton is 0-4 against the Canucks in the regular season. If that is no indication, that speaks a whole lot lol
But what options do they have if nobody else is able to get it going? The reason McD and Draisaitl have been overplayed is because when they're not on the ice, the Oilers don't generate much offence at all agains the Canucks. So you've got a choice: You can play all 4 lines, not tire out your big guns but they potentially get shut down and you've got nobody else picking up the slack or you play them all the time and they create major headaches for the Canucks up and down the lineup. Yes, if you do the latter, maybe you get past this round. But then Connor and Leon potentially are too banged up or don't have any gas left for the WCF. It's a tough situation and the Canucks have made it tough for them. That's what playoff hockey is. It's a chess match and both having the personnel to get you there and knowing how to manage everyone's ice time. Maybe the Oilers just aren't deep enough as a team to get there, which was one of the criticisms of the Canucks in recent years. You can usually get through a round with a top heavy team. But depth is everything in the playoffs. Corey Perry is getting older and isn't the same guy he once was, but he's been completely invisible in this series. If Bouchard and/or Nurse have a bad game or get exposed defensively, they could be in big trouble. The Oilers rely heavily on their PP and if the Canucks prove they have their PK figured out in Game 6, it's over. The Oilers haven't generated much 5 on 5. A lot of that is the Canucks depth and ability to shut things down.
Lol, the Oilers close out experience has mostly been negative. Maybe the media should start giving the Canucks some credit. Miller has done a stellar job this series.
@@spud2727 lmao, your team barely beat a 3rd string goaltender and a team without their leading scorer. You are talking like the Oilers won the cup. Simmer down, you won a series.
@@kevinnegoro1118 never said they won the cup, I am settled down, your top scorer missed 1 game and you use that as an excuse. Pathetic Canucks fans. Atleast Oilers have won a cup, how many have the Canucks won?? Ya that's right, nothing, just like your comment, empty and nothing. Loser!!!
Let’s be honest, both teams are banged up, JT got a nice bounce in 5 and EB got a sneaker in 4, both teams with back up goalies, both teams stars not scoring, it’s an unreal series and we deserve a game 7.
Oilers all year have been a 1.5 line team. No goaltending, no defence. Nurse and CC are -9 this series. McOilly made people think the whole team were good
After game 2 I was telling people their ice time is unsustainable. Yes, they could still win this series but that sort of thing isn't going to be good long term.
everyone talking about injuries especially these guys in this video... meanwhile you have JT miller playing like its still game 1 of the season. This guy is built for the playoffs and is showing no sign of wear and tear
The elephant in the room is special teams. The Canucks made adjustments to the their penalty kill that were really noticeable in game 5. The Oilers were deadly to start the series and won games primarily by cashing in on the PP - but went 0 for 6 in game 5!! If they don’t figure out how to make some new adjustments and make that power-play count, they are in real trouble.
Canucks fan here...why is everyone so hard on Edmonton..this series is far from over...if Canucks Don't show up tonight..And Edmonton fights.. we are going to Game 7 and anything Can happen..Canada will always hold my favorite teams..
Vancouver's physical play? Yes. Injuries even out. Oilers having to play McDavid and Draisaitl so much a detriment. No wonder they might be tired. Oilers bottom six mostly invisible. Pickard plays period. How many soft goals has he given up? Can't think of one. McDavid just being shut down. Not many good looks at the net. Just that breakaway where he scored. Even so the Oilers have had their chances. Silov the big difference. MVP of the series so far.
They lost by one shot, and they're a bunch of bums?? Vancouver lost by one shot the game before and everyone was all over them that. It seems you really are only as good as your last game.
@@amazingmonkey886 : Just think if Sission's shot in game four had gone into the empty net and not off the post. That is the difference one shot can make.
Every year Oilers are short on big players who can crash and bang. Ken Holland has consistently failed to bring the physical aspect of this hockey club up to par. Oilers are missing at least three players who can really hit back against the opposition. All the best clubs in the states know how to play heavy, which further helps the best players. Vancouver is a physical team. Why do we have to watch the oilers fail year after year and not recruit some heavy muscle?
The Canucks got a lucky bounce near the end of regulation to win Game 5, but there is no chance they win Game 6 back in Edmonton. Game 7 back in Vancouver will then show why home ice advantage in the playoffs is so important, however. Canucks will upset the Oilers in Game 7.
Hot take: Edmonton blows out Vancouver 6-2 OR Vancouver blows out Edmonton 6-1. I hope the former, but fear the latter. I don't think this game is going to be a 1 goal game like all the rest to this point.
That its a hot take! But i see where your coming from. Maybe the oilers are already mentally and physically beat and just accept defeat against a fired up canucks ready to close it out. OR the canucks come out too casual like they already won the series and the oilers take advantage while being super fired up.
Bring in Skinner? Let Campbell play? Idiots, its Pickard in net period. If Pickard is not in net, people need to be fired. And stop blaming the players, its the coach. Listen to Vancouver coach, then listen to Knob. The Edmonton coach lost game 5. He should have called a timeout and straightened the boys out, way back in 2nd period. Coach should have learned by now, can't let the boys hold back. The oilers strength is speed and full bore offence.
Man I was yelling at the TV in the second to call a time out, look at the Panthers coach, look at the Bruins coach. Look at how Tocchet is in the media.
Poor ryan rishaug.....his brown nose must be killing him afyer 8 years of mcdavid this, mcdavid that..blah, blah... Mcdavid didnt win the scoring title. Mcdavid has never won a conference. Mcdavid has never won a stanley cup and probably never will. Lol.
