Few people know that till this day, there are still Rishis roaming the mountains, caves and wilderness, intensifying their practice and rarely emerging to provide teachings and healings. There are also those who are initiated into the Rishi tradition that aren’t living as ascetics.
For the first time ever, I am sharing about my personal experience and encounters with the ancient Rishis that began during my monkhood. Being initiated into this tradition itself and upholding strict spiritual precepts and observances, I will elucidate the magical and spiritual aspects behind this sacred tradition.
NOTE: Rishi is also known as Ruesi or Lersi in Thailand, Bali, Singapore and Malaysia.
What are Rishis?
Originating from the Saptarishi (The first 7 Rishis), and also known as the Seers of the Vedas, Rishis are beings who after intense meditation (tapas), realised the supreme truth and eternal knowledge, which they composed into hymns. They channel cosmic powers and the universal spiritual light to pass through them, revealing revelations to them in the form of mantras. They also represent the stars of the Big Dipper, and are the first Light-Beings; originators of Light-working.
