Truly enjoy these. British political system is all around buckwild, but maybe this "lets have a PM who wasn't elected in any way, shape or form" takes the cake.
Hot take (apparently): Elections should not be entirely about personalities, so while there are problems with it, it's better no not directly elect a head of state. Just look at what happened to the U.S. political system. As bad as it is in the U.K., you can't pin that on not directly voting for the PM.
Italy, Spain, the Netherlands or Australia do not vote directly for their Prime Minister either. It's a role, not an elected position. And electing a president doesn't magically solve issues: see Brazil, South Africa, Turkey, Indonesia or even France/USA. The problems of Britain's electoral mode go much beyond that.
Well Britain has a parliamentary system. Citizens vote to choose their MPs not PM. The MPs then choose PM among themselves. All democratic citizens across the world forget this basic feature of parliamentary democracy.

I enjoy the lore of these videos. The level of evil of the characters, however, is too high to be believable. There's no way a character like Rishi Sunak would actually exist in real life and thus it does take away from the relatability of the series. The Lizz Truss character arc was worse, however, as it seems the writers just gave up entirely and made the most incompetent character the world has ever seen. A true "jumping the shark" moment.
The ending of the Boris Johnson arc still is so surprising to me, feels like they tried to wrap it quickly but shifted into the Truzz arc to fast and it failed miserably which is why they were so fast to go to the Sunak arc.

Most politicians study philosophy, politics, or economics (one, two or all of them) to set themselves ready for a career in politics. Degree in politics - obvious. Degree in economics - learn about money in order to get to the top of the political ladder. Philosophy mayn't be so obvious but I heard one politician explain it "Studying philosophy teaches you how to analyse, debate and argue about propositions but with no evidence". 😄
The Anglosphere countries definately are in a crisis of leadership right now. It's not just the UK. Globalisation, dominance of the financial trade/banking/investments etc, refusal to build enough houses to purposefully make housing unaffordable for anyone but the rich, unsustainable levels of immigration, downright suicidal refusal to politically do anything to improve things for the young generation. The rich of the world have taken over the governments of Anglosphere countries. They are just run by the global rich for the global rich now. If you don't believe me, walk through central London, there are whole streets of empty houses owned by rich arabs, chinese and russians. It's the same in New York or Sydney or Toronto now.
@@C-Farsene_5 It's not really a race issue. It's a wealth issue. The global rich are from all continents. The communism you're probably thinking of under Lenin and Stalin was a very far cry from Karl Marx's original vision. Regarding schooling, it‘s not uncommon for a family to spend and invest all their money on children’s education. I know many indian parents who do normal jobs but save everything to send their kids to elite private schools. It‘s a believe in the Indian community that they will get better education there and won‘t be influenced by bad behavior. So his parents could have been middle class and still decide to send him to an expensive private school. Also many indian parents, even if they are poor themselves, encourage their children to not hang out with other poor kids … it‘s very strange but thats indian culture there. Ofc not everyone is like that and second generation kids don‘t think that way but our parents were mostly like that.

Might be news to you, but intelligence and wealth are quite highly correlated. If someone is wealthier than you, they are likely more intelligent. Intelligence combines with your personality traits to give you your wealth. It doesn't mean that every poor person is a dunce, but if someone has wealth then you can safely assume that they are quite intelligent. Also, intelligence is an inherited trait - so if you are a dunce, blame your ancestors.
