Risk of Rain 2: Seekers of The Storm is now the most anticipated game project for me, along with Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree! Thank you, Guys from Gearbox, for continuing to develop Lore and add more new content to RoR 2, my favorite game that I've already played 1000 hours of!
anticipated in the sense of "will they F it up?" because remember this isn't the risk of rain team anymore, this is by gearbox, and the other new piece RoR news they brought is they are turning the franchise into a mobile gotcha game. I'd call it more anxiety than anticipation.
@@BuzzaB77 Gearbox, created some of the most well-received content in the Survivors of the Void Expansion such as the stages like Aphelian Sanctuary and Siphoned Forest. They also made some of the coolest enemies in the game like Void Jailers. I think Gearbox gets it right about what Risk of Rain is! The console port of SoTV was handled by an additional team, and the core Gearbox team began creating the expansion earlier this year, as they revealed at the Festival of Gup. I think that Seekers of the Storm will be even more interesting than SoTV in terms of lore and theme of the expansion. New locations in the form of the ruins of the ancient Lemurian civilization look interesting. I think that SoTS will be released at the beginning of 2024

@@toastmaster914 yes, mithrix's hatred and loneliness, he was trapped on the moon by providence thus the loneliess and hate, this happened several years before the main ror and ror2 plot
I never really got it when people talked about rewatching something over and over again, but this trailer is that for me. Lowkey way better than Shadow of the Erdtree trailer they showed us (which is understandable, given it's all in-game footage). I hope FromSoft will cook a cinematic again, first Elden Ring trailer went hard as fuсk.

@@kamzito6553I am pretty sure I heard some where he doesn't want risk of rain to be what defines him as a musician and that he wants to move on to new projects. As sad as it is I can understand, I mean the guy has been working on risk of rain music for 10 years now.
I was discussing this with a friend .Base game had lunar items .SotV had void items . Seekers of the Storm should have gold items I think something around picking a god would fit the DLC's vibe, you could pick Aurelionite, N'kuhana's, Mithrix, Providence, Etc. Etc. I guess you could probally have them as a loot from the new temple map, Siren's Call style. It would be cool to have different effects depending on how many of them you take (You are only supposed to take one, bad things happen if you take more than 1 god), like if you take all of them, you get to fight all of them at once in a boss fight, ideally after going to somesort of new realm. If you take none, you could fight the dude from the trailer, or get to walk through without a fight. If you take only 1 god, its just a normal boss fight.
@renewalacumen1770 Maybe you sacrifice some of your items to supercharge another item. Like you sacrifice your gasolines to "perfect" your amber brooches, giving them a gold coated appearance and a big improvement. Green items are sacrificed for other greens, reds for reds, etc, etc. 10 items are sacrificed to perfect one of your items, not the full stack.
@@rowancloot4453 But it wouldn't be corruption. If you picked any Topaz Brooches after the 'perfecting' your last stack, they won't be perfected as a result.
@daxterminator4150 graphically it got improved, but gameplay is mostly the same as vanilla which isn't good in some ways. Ror is still has unique gameplay, and runs. But the original had some issues like giant locations, terrible view in zoom, and etc.
@@duewest1998 you can check the dev diary that gearbox posted, as well as the dlc's steam page for just the trailer. i believe a lot or all of the areas are actually 3d renditions of areas from the first game/rorr

They said he was created by the lemurians to replace Providence, but then was corrupted by Mithrix and his disciples. So there’s a bit of both brothers in there.

I hope they either bring back a ror1 character or at least a new character that's effectively an old one like how Railgunner is basically just Sniper. I'd love Chef, but based on the descriptions I've seen Miner might be more thematically appropriate. I wouldn't say no if they decided on HAN-D or Enforcerer either. Personally I'd be down for more than one, but if Survivors of the Void is any indication it might be 2 survivors, one new and one returning or both new. I'd be surprised to see 2 returning outside some sort of time travel themed dlc. If I remember right, the original plan was for each dlc to focus a side story on an enemy family. Survivors of the Void was the Void. If Seekers of the Storm follows that blueprint, it looks like it might be based on the golem family.
The dev once said that they won't bring any "new" old timer because most of them are already in the game though modding. They don't want to "throw away" the work of the community.
@@JunDageki How so? They try to not step on the community toes. The RoR2 Bandit is slightly different AND don't use his Beta "Body" file exactly because the community use it.
@@GATCornebre because there are a lot of people who don’t play with mods for a number of reasons, and this is without mentioning that this doesn’t even consider the console players that can’t play with mods.
So the reason this took so long to be announced(and Survivors of the Void did) is that they changed the way they entirely write these projects so that they can release on console better. This one will have a significantly faster release on console.
it's confirmed to be CHEF from ror1/rorr, now with wheels and I'd the fastest character for some unholy reason. other is Seeker, can revive teammates and stuff. third one has been confirmed but not revealed
I literally thought about RoR 2 DLC after its Release from ROR:R.. Just ONE day after my initial though my friend came and told me theres a new DLC coming for ROR2.. THANK YOU GEARBOX!
Hopefully we won't. Gearbox said they've basically re-coded the whole game and it should now be very similar to the pc version, allowing us to get bonus content almost at the same time as pc players
It took embarrassingly long for me to realize it’s Aurelionite speaking, not Providence. So basically what I gathered is that Aurelionite is taking matters into its own hands as both Mithrix and Providence are dead. It has created itself a new body in the image of it’s creator (Providence) to save itself and to give the creatures of the plant a new god (“a new shackle”) to worship, (“powered by the Bulwarks end” [Providence]). The vultures terrified of both a new god and a being that looks like the one that shackled them to the planet (Providence), attempted to either kill or send it to the Moment Whole (they used Beads of Fealty) by attacking it which goes horribly wrong, corrupts his body and maybe mind, and drives Aurelionite crazy? And he states “none shall bind me” which could mean he doesn’t want to be under rule, OR (which I think is more likely) he doesn’t want to be a worshipped god if he doesn’t want to. This could also pair very well with what Mithrix said about Aurelionite about it, having a soul, could turn on them and be a threat. This also proves that Aurelionite’s power, when he isn’t shackled by his rulers, could be a threat to BOTH Mithrix and Providence. Not just one, both. He may be stronger than a single one of the brothers even…
It’s not aurelionite speaking, it’s the false son. Basically, once mithrix and providence are no longer around to keep aurelionite in the guilded coast, she reaches out and contacts the planet to try to escape. That’s what led to the gold shrines that you find in game, and aurelionite begins to have worshippers. Worshippers of providence create a gold statue of providence, which aurelionite managed to connect to, creating the false son. The false son contains essence of both providence and aurelionite, and is then attacked by worshippers of mithrix, which then corrupt the false son. Then the false son has essence of both mithrix and providence, but also aurelionite
@@Flicknuts I like this idea but the Her in the lore is not Aurelionite. Providence made Aurelionite but "Her" visited the planet which is how Mithrax and Povidence learned they were not alone in the universe, so the two cannot be the same. Yet in the trailer I cannot imagine that the Her is referring to Aurelionite and not the "Her", but I guess it is possible.
@@Flicknuts My theory is that the "gift" that was given to Providence now resides in the false son, and this is the perfection of Her that they mention.
So from what i can see this is the aurolinaite coming hack for revenge now that providence and mithrix are dead, because mithrix trapped him in the gilded coasts. Also the birds have beads of fielty on thier spears meaning they were loyal to mithrix like the heritic
Right! That's exactly what I was thinking. At least we FINALLY got Survivors of the Void after a brutal 2yr wait. Been playing it nonstop since it dropped on the Switch eShop though. Absolutely love all of the new content.
Considering they finally have all the different platforms on the same core software now hopefully not nearly as long as the last one. They had to rebuild the core of the game from scratch after Gearbox took over
I think the only reason sotv took so long to come to console is because they were remaking the game from the ground up to fix bugs and make it take less time for future dlcs

@@-user_redacted- for 2 years after risk of rain was sold to gearbox the new dev team had to rebuild the entire code from scratch to match the console to PC. so 100% dlc can be released simultaneously as well as have quality of life improvements that the PC version had for years now. Stay hyped fr.
