I am now completely off risperdal, and I feel good! With CBT and everyday activity, I am able to manage symptoms of psychotic depression. Of course this may not work for everyone, and people take this drug for many reasons, but this is my experience. My prolactin level has decreased, and as of now, I no longer secrete discharge from my breasts.

Great video love your hair!! Ive been on 2mg for 4 years and now reduced to 1.5mg 6 weeks ago. Basically hoping to taper down another 0.5mg in 2 weeks then another 0.5mg in 2 months time and so on. So far so good reducing slowly to avoid relapsing and of course withdraws. Thank you so much your such an inspiration!!

I'm researching all about my disorder (schizophrenia affect) and surprisingly come to realize how many side effects there really are and I've been experiencing most from someone who used to be fairly healthy. Ranging from dryness, motivation decrease, dizziness, and remembering from almost the first dose I took I had almost like a seizure. My jaw clenched and my arms raised up. I was unable to communicate. The nurses then shot me up with something to release me from that state... I never seemed to have that specific problem again however most recent I did experience to my understanding almost going BLIND. My vision would fill up with stars and almost like blackout so out of fear I quickly layed down. That did seem to help.. I started if I remember only being on 1 or 2mg throughout day. Now im on 2mg at day and 4mg at night... I AM SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING LOWERING MY DOSE AND EVENTUALLY GETTING OFF!!!!! I would love to know if anyone has tried anything more natural to help with this diagnosis... I have read CBD can help those with schizophrenia.... Maybe someone can inform me about CBD pros and cons????? All would help!!! Thank you 😊

Let me know how it goes. My sons on 4mg and gained 11 lbs in 2 months as well as developing breasts. However he gets voices that tell him to harm himself. So I'm guessing he will nerd a new med but his dr always 'consults his colleagues' and they told him add abilify to decrease the side effects.

I just started taking 0.5 mg of respirodal. I’m also on 100mg of seroquel and 100mg of Zoloft. This video motivates me to start my own private channel personally for myself so I can always look back and know how my meds effected me.

PatheticPlanet that’s amazing this video has inspired you to do the same! It definitely is helpful in keeping track of how you are feeling and any side effects you may be experiencing. I know I made my videos because I felt like someone could learn from my experience on this medication too. And keeping it private helps you too. I’m glad this has helped, and I wish you the best of luck!

Adriana Taboada thank you so much! I’m psychostic rn I had another manic break for the second time. Do you recommend a mental hospital? I don’t wanna go to one. My own experience, they shove meds down you’re throught to make you feel again. And if you don’t take them they threaten you with a needle. I was booty juiced once from fighting 3 cops. This shit sucks. Idk what to do my parents are so upset I’m manic again and so is my brother. When I try telling them I’m happier they don’t get that I have extra euphoria in my brain no matter how hard I try to explain it to them :/

Hi Adriana, thanks for posting your video. I am hoping to come off respiridone over the next few months. It sounds as though you tapered off. How did you taper off? Did you go from 1.5 mg to 1 to 0.5? Did coming off affect your sleep? Thanks, Jamie
@adrianataboada5680
@adrianataboada5680 5 лет назад
Jamie Miller yes, I tapered off from 1.5 mg to 1mg to 0.5mg gradually over the course of 3-4 month. I think that with each lowered dose, going to sleep was a little more difficult. I would take risperdal at night because it has the potential to make you tired. When I got off completely, my sleep was normal, and any minor discomfort or irregularities in sleep patterns resolved themselves after a couple of weeks. As of now, I have no issues with sleep. I wish the best for you with coming off! I know it isn’t always easy, but hopefully, it will go smoothly. You’ll be okay!

Hi Adriana, thanks so much for that. It is great to hear that you have been successful. I'm down to 1 mg from 2 mg after my first episode of psychosis two months ago. I've been told to stay on 1 mg for two more months and then I will probably do something similar to you. Its positive to hear about your sleep as insomnia seems to be a common complaint after stopping the meds. Maybe tapering off slowly helps. Did you come off after 0.5 mg or did you go lower before you quit?
@adrianataboada5680
@adrianataboada5680 5 лет назад
Jamie Miller yes, the lowest dose I was on was 0.5mg and I stopped from there. My advice is that if the transition of 0.5mg intervals feels too heavy for you, you can always ask for 0.25mg! I’m not a doctor, so you should definitely consult with yours first. My doctor worked with me according to what I felt was right regarding the dose once we agreed I was doing better. Hope this helps!

Hi Adriana, thanks and much appreciated. How are you doing now? Has you psychosis returned and, if so, have you managed using CBT? I also wanted to ask you if you feel more like yourself after coming off the drug? The thing that I find most horrible about it is that I don't feel myself at all.

Hi adriana... thank you for posting your video. I've been taking risperidone for 1 year. Last July 2021 I asked my doctor's permission for stopping risperidone. Actually he prescribed me a 2mg risperidone and when I asked his permission. He told me to divide the 2mg tablet into half and take only half of the tablet until the end of August. At the end of August I stopped taking risperidone. I stopped from half of the 2mg tablet so now I have a problem with my sleep. I can't sleep even for 30 minutes. I just want to ask you how did you stop from risperidone slowly. I think my doctor doesn't know how to let me come off with risperidone slowly

Did risperidone make you loose motivation and interest in things you enjoyed b4 starting medication?
@adrianataboada5680
@adrianataboada5680 5 лет назад
Jessica Negron i think there was a general ambivalence on the medication, but it improved with cognitive behavioral therapy. Before risperdal, I was too unstable to focus on anything I enjoyed prior to my breakdown. But after being on risperdal, I calmed down enough to focus on other things. A lack of motivation could also be that risperdal makes you tired and lethargic, which was a side effect I realized I had after getting off of it. I would take risperdal at night because it would let me go to sleep. So no, I didn’t lose motivation or interest in things I enjoyed before, but I did get tired easily.

Did you ever stop socializing going through your withdrawals?
@adrianataboada5680
@adrianataboada5680 2 года назад
Hello! Sorry for a late reply! i didn’t stop socializing because of withdrawal or tapering off medication. Normally, I don’t talk to people when im feeling bad (I tend to hide away until I get my emotions in order), but that’s more a personality type and not a result of the medication! But the physical aspects of medication make socializing a bit more difficult just on the basis of having to explain what’s going on and getting the proper emotional support!

Hi! im a male and im currently getting off of risperdal. Do you think the negative effects on horomones like testosterone and prolactin is permanent, or should it reverse once im fully of the medication? Do you also think CBD effects horomones like the antipsychotics do? Would very much appreciate some input thanks a lot!!
@adrianataboada5680
@adrianataboada5680 5 лет назад
nahom no, the negative effects on hormones are not permanent. I recently got blood work done, and my prolactin levels are entirely normal now that I’ve been off of risperdal for a while. I’m not too sure about testosterone specifically, but I imagine that if it were affected, it should go back to your pre-medication body level after the drug is out of your system. I don’t know much about CBD though, but I’ve never heard about it affecting hormones! That would be something to look into, but stay safe with the use of CBD!

Cesar Lemus hi! I hope you’re doing well. I am not a medical professional by any means, so it’s best you consult the person who prescribed you the drug in the first place. However, I found that tapering off by reducing the dose by .5mg to 1mg to be very effective for me. The process can take a few months though, but always consult with your doctor and listen to how your body feels. It’s been over a year since I tapered off the drug and I am no longer taking it.

Adriana Taboada hi there! Ok well look I was on 2mg twice a day so that means I took a total of 4mg a day I been on 4mg for over 8 months, but a week ago my doctor lower it to only 2mg a day so now I take only 1 pill of 2mg a day in the evening. Is that a bad idea or a good idea she lowered my risperidone 2mg instead of 1mg or 0.5mg what do you think ? Oh and I’m trying to taper down slowly for I can quit taking this risperidone medication, but then now idk how much should I lower my risperidone to 1.5mg or 1mg and then to 0.5mg then just stop taking risperidone what do you think?? Hope I hear back from you!

Hi I’m sorry, I tapered off risperidone in half increments within month intervals. It was not immediate, and the process took a couple of months. The highest dose I was on was in March 2018 (4mg), and from there, my dose was decreased until I was no longer taking it, and that was almost a year.

@@adrianataboada5680 Oh I see.... But mine was not like that. I started from 2mg and when I asked my doctor to stop the medication, he told me to cut the 2mg into half and to take half of the tablet for one month before I stop taking it. So I ended taking it from half of the 2mg. And I've learned that we have different brand name of risperidone. Mine was risdin while yours was risperdal. Risperdal has 1mg,0.5mg and 0.25mg tablet while risdin has 4mg and 2mg only. I wonder why it was like that. And now that I stopped taking it I got insomnia. Did you also have insomnia when you reduce the dosage of the medicine and when you stop?
