Norway`s definitive blues queen Rita Engedalen is back with her latest song: Colors In Rain

Rita’s newest single released on August 6 in connection with her concert performance at this years Notodden Blues Festival. "Colors in Rain" is a strong Blues Americana song being contemporary as well as accompanied by a socially relevant and thus difficult theme. Rita’s focus is on important contemporary values in society, expressing that there must be more tolerance and understanding for each and every culture. "Colors In Rain" cries out for hope and justice. It also pays homage to some of the African American Blues women who fought for freedom. For years Rita has sung the praises of women, in and of the Blues as she continues to do, here, with her latest release.

In the song’s last verse, you hear of Billie Holiday and her song "Strange Fruit". It is one of the songs that has touched Rita’s life all the most. "Strange Fruit" was originally a poem written about the lynching of black people by Abel Meeropol.
"The constant hounding of Billie, and her struggle for her right to sing this song of human injustice, was part of what caused her demise. "

Rita Engedalen is one of Europe’s most highly profiled female Blues artists. While earlier in her career she had set her focus on the important and popular project “Ladies in Blues", now Rita is spending time on her solo career with a new album to be released in 2022.
