Don't only praise the editing, praise the Fantastic talent of Mr. Fred Astaire and Miss Rita Hayworth. Remember, she did everything backwards and in heels.
I LOVE THIS. I'm 77 so grew up watching old movies (Astaire musicals & Rita in various movies) on TV & in 70's loved Led Zep, still do 2day!!! And dang, but he's awesome an dancer.
Seeing Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth dance to Led Zeppelin is absolutely amazing! What an amazing duo! Rita is one of the most talented and absolutely beautiful wooam that Hollywood has ever seen! 😍😍😍❤❤❤
Now I see where Robert got his moves. Whoever did this was spot on genius. I was skeptical, at first, but it could not have worked out better. Well done
this is what tapping should sound like ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g170UfckI4E.html - not covered up by music so that there are no taps to hear
'I'm sorry, but I don't know that part of the routine'... They do it together, and she mirrors him, never once looking his way! What a great video. Hats off to whoever creates these videos. I was once in a dance band, and loved watching couples dance to the music. It was magical! I'm sure Zep would feel the same about this video.
Greatest dance/music combo ever! Led Zep my all time favorite band (and greatest band of all time). I owned a danced studio years ago and introduced my students to the greatest dancers Astaire, Kelly, Ziegfeld Follies and the greatest music/musicians of multiple genres. We had dramatically-eclectic recital music, encompassing music from the 1920’s to Ziegfeld Era, through Woodstock and the 90’s when music was resurrected. For my final recital, I choreographed a mystical Belly Dance number to “Kashmir”. Memorable send-off tribute. These videos are fabulous!
Es grandioso que todo haya encajado a la perfección. Tal bizarra pieza de los Zeppelines se ha visto realzada y ganada en magnificencia y brillantez con toda esa maravillosa coreografía.
All I can say is "Mon Dieu"! He was the premier master, and then Gene Kelly. And Rita Hayworth-- a red head lover's wet dream! And she dances superbly in these clips!--Thanks
THIS is why the Internet was invented. I have so much fun watching this, thanks for sharing it! You did such a great job and it's a real tribute to all involved. Subscribed.
I been down for oh so so long. Sorrow and agony are my best friends. But I gotta tell ya I smile from ear to ear when I watch these videos. This is a creative and clever idea and the music and the video match perfectly. Thank you for sharing your creative talent with us.
If only Fred was still around, it'd be amazing to get his reaction to this. I heard just yesterday that he called Michael Jackson up after watching his dancing on the Thriller video, and Jackson was appropiately blown away by the compliment.
Fred Astaire's dancing reminds me of ME performing on the disco floor when I was 20...who says another 56 years does strange things to the memory? . I bet Fred and Rita would have FAINTED if Led Zep had suddenly blasted out while they were dancing. Great fun watch (and listen).
I love Rita Hayworth so much I married a red haired girl that looks very much like her. We have only been married 56 years, we are not sure it is going to last but we are working on it.
The gorgeous Rita..... hey youngins, we saw this song live. PONTIAC Shitdome. 1977. One of our top 10 shows through 50 year years of concert going. Nothing tops Pink Floyd .
Whoever put this together has a great sense of humor and a fascinating sense of quality. This video shows how great Fred Astaire, Rita Hayworth, and Led Zeppelin all were. Bravo
Never thought that I'd hear Led Zeppelin, Fred Astaire, and Rita Hayworth in the same sentence, much less the same video. Gosh, this was wonderful!! The editing was flawless. I smiled the entire time and I thank you SO much for this. Fabulous.
Usually, musical combinations like this do not always work as well as this did. But this was superb. I was wondering what Fred Astaire would have thought of the whole thing and have decided he would have - pardon - gotten a real kick out of it. It's not like he was totally against rock music. He went to go see an Alice Cooper show with Groucho - who was a close friend of Groucho. And being a really good drummer, himself how could he help but like Bonzo.
@@blackolantern5666 Was just waiting for someone to go negative...had to bring it up, didn't you? Not enough to enjoy some classy talent, had to talk about stuff that isn't even dancing.
THAT is AMAZING! I have been listening to Led Zeppelin ever since the release of their very first album yet that totally caught me by surprise. Congratulations and thank you to whoever put that together. And, yep, I just found out how special Rita Hayworth was.
This is one of the best editing jobs I've ever seen. If whoever did this isn't a professional editor, he or she should be. Simply amazing how well it all matches up.
You are correct. Great. Fred was Amazing, his body Was always moving, his fingers, were dancing too. Fred did comment on Rita Hayworth, was terrific as partner. You can Definitely see it, Magnificent together!!!
I haven't watched one of these "old clips dancing to modern music" videos in a long time, & maybe I'm alone in this, but all the others I've watched in the past have been better. I was actually disappointed in the editing of the dance steps to the music. Also, the best one I've seen not only matched the video to the audio, but even matched the video to the lyrics!
This was absolutely superb. Did a great job of timing, dancing with the music and words matching the actions. This is one of the best ones I've seen and I absolutely love Led Zeppelin.
This is wild. My mom was a professional dancer, had her own dance studio. She loved Led Zep and did these sorts of dances to them. How I wish I had video back in the day...
Watching this makes me realize how much classier and attractive the old timers are. No tattoos, bras hanging out, pierced noses. Sometimes not performing half undressed is sexier
Astaire was once asked who his best dance partner was and famously replied “Rita Hayworth” instead of Ginger Rogers as most might expect. Hayworth wasn’t necessarily famous for being a dancer but her parents were professionals and she grew up in a dance studio so certainly had the background and chops to earn Astaire’s praise. Great video and editing.
Led Zeppelin 1 came out the same year I dropped Acid for the first time in 1969. I'm 68 now. I was 13 then and that was the first album I ever bought. I used money from my paper route to buy it. That was my first trip to downtown Long Beach, CA by bus by myself to buy the album. So many times tripping in my bedroom listening to it. It was fifteen years later I got to meet Plant backstage at a Donovan concert at the Santa Monica Civic. He was in a wheelchair from a car accident and asked me to push him around. The rest of the band was in the audience. I was a production assistant for Fun Productions that put on the show in 1976(?) and this song was a part of that show. Kudos to the producer of this video! I've done a few like this many years ago in the early days of youtube and it isn't easy.
I had tickets to see them in Atlanta when they had to cancel because of that accident! I was heartbroken! I should have kept the tickets but I had to return them and get my $11 (!!!) back cause I was also broke! Never got another chance to see the band but saw Plant many times and Page a couple of times, playing with other acts. And saw Jason Bonham's Zeppelin tribute in '22.
It just goes to show how while music may change over the years, dancing doesn't really change as much as you might think. Our parents and grandparents were making the same moves, just to a different beat.
Never liked Fred Astaire. Thought all those old dance cheesy musicals were rubbish. But Wow! I have never ever ever done such an about-face in my life! Absolutely stupendous! What an absolute mindblower!
Our parents and grandparents were BETTER dancers than we are. They were dancing generations, and their music was made to dance to. I'm 64 and remember the old timers "cutting the rug" at family weddings etc... They were just better dancers than us.
I dunno... There may be some similar steps, just as there are similar chords and progressions in music through the ages. But just as with the changes in music, the overall effect and feel of this kind of dance is radically different from today's.
Real love for Led Zeppelin for mostly all my life , never would I thought to see these movie classic & these classic Rock & Roll together, absolutely amazing 👏. Whoever paired these up did an outstanding job.
Holy house of... Never once in the countless times I listened to this song did Swing enter my mind. But from now until the end of my days, every time I hear it, I'll be swinging! God bless Zeppelin, their music, this masterpiece tribute to music and of course Fred and Rita!!
There are more precise dancers than Rita Hayworth but none had her sheer vitality and beauty. Sometimes there are human beings that have a magical quality. She had it. How sad that life and men treated her so unkindly. Damaged her self worth and health. But her daughter sheltered cherished and cared for her through her illness until the end of her life which showed what a warm caring and loving parent she must have been.
I live now in a Village, 6 kms. of Seville (Spain), named Castilleja de la Cuesta, were was born Eduardo Cansino, father of Rita Hayworth. Rita had spanish blood in her veins.
but there are not taps to hear - makes no sense - should sound like ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g170UfckI4E.html - not covered up by music
Great job! Rita Hayworth was so talented and absolutely beautiful. I was never a big fan of Fred Astaire's acting but he definitely was an amazing dancer. These two meshed perfectly together.
this one's fred and rita - but far more often it was fred and ginger - ginger rogers was the one the quote was about. 'why is ginger rogers a way better dancer than fred astaire?'
What a brilliant combination of two very unlikely entities. The almost superhuman dancing of Fred Astaire and the enduring power of Robert Plant and Led Zeppelin. If this doesn't make you smile then I feel sorry for you. An incredible pairing and the creative minds @ Retro Video both deserve a Standing Ovation!!!
