Fred is who made me first want to take dancing lessons when I was 4. My grandmother tried to teach me very basic dance techniques in my mom’s house and once she thought I had some potential, she started paying for my ballet and tap classes. I’m 36 now and still making the majority of my living off dancing lol Thank you Fred ❤
That is very cool! Good on ya! I love dance.. started tap at 3 & ballet at 5 until 10 years of age. Stopped when my mom became ill.. she was my classes scheduler, coordinator & chauffeur. It was not a priority then I suppose. I'm nearly 70 now but once a dancer, always a dancer. 💃💃💃❤
My Mom was a Rita Hayworth look-a-like. She and my Dad (a Naval Officer who survived Pearl Harbor) married in May 1942 after 2 months of “courting”. (There was a war on, you know). They are both gone now but this little clip reminded me of their times. She loved these old classic movies! Thanks for sharing. 👍🏻
My story is somewhat similar, except my mother was actually a dancing girls in several of the Ginger Rogers/Fred Astaire movies. Odd things is my father gave Ginger Rogers her start in show business as a singer in his jazz band in Texas.
@@rosiebottom3870I don't recall that he named a favorite. I read both their biographies, but it was decades ago He certainly may have. I also read Ginger Roger's bio and I have never forgotten her remark about Fred. "I could do everything Fred could only I did it backwards and in heels" LOL ❤
@@user-mc5ch1rs4dactually, yeah. Ginger was a better actress than dancer, but they had great chemistry together which sold tickets, obviously she could dance as well, but Rita was a trained dancer since she was young and before ever acting. I believe he said she was his favorite and the most fun to dance with, and he danced with a few other incredible trained dancers
She was underrated as a dancer and should have done far more dancing on screen. She was excellent and unlike others, what makes her good on screen, is that she didn’t look like she was trying.
Thank you Fred, Rita, Ginger, Gene, Cyd, Donald and all you wonderful Dancers of old Hollywood. You made my childhood so much better than it might have been.
Sorry Folks... but Rita Hayworth was thee only one that kicked as hard while making it all seem effortless..These steps weren't easy ..but the two Hand and Gloved the hell out of these numbers.. Other ladies were definitely great but Gilda was The Gold Standard... Not a hair out of place or a b ad of sweat!!!💖💖💖🫵💥💥💥
There were few great tap dancers back then Fred was truly in his own right as they all were ... Historical "Master Juba" was the father of tap (1825) William Henry Lane is his actual name.
All these rhythms are taken from African culture, but again I truly don't want to take away the added style and grace Fred Astaire and others brought to it. They gave their added gift to the culture and that's what God is saying you teach one to teach another 💖💖💖🎉🎉🎉🙌🙌🌹🌹🌹
I love watching Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth Tap dancing. I also love watching old movies with music, Dancing and Singing. Such as Singing in the Rain White Christmas
How great 👍 for him.My Grandmother was a hairdresser to the Stars 🌟at that time 💝 They used real hair back then.Boy, talk about beautiful, great video!!🙏💥
@@patrickhenry2845I’d like to know who considered Fred Astaire a great dance partner. So much focus on him when Eleanor Powell, Cyd Charisse, etc. were as talented, if not more so. Wonder if ol’ Fred could have danced in high heels the way those ladies did.
@hollygolightly8048 Fred Astaire had a sister named Adele. They were dance partners for entertainment beginning around the year 1917. She was considered a better dancer than Ginger Rodgers and her brother Fred. They went to England to entertain and knocked the British out of their seats with their dancing routines. Adele met a man who was a Royal there. They fell in love, married, and moved into living quarters in a Castle. That ended the brother/sister Duo. Cyd Charisse danced with Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly. There was no woman in Hollywood who could dance as sensuous and artistic as Cyd Charisse. I can see why Fred said she was his best dancing partner in Hollywood. Eleanor Powell and Rita Hayworth have to be in the mix, too. Unfortunately, there are no film clips of Fred and Adele dancing together.
Great days of Hollywood song and Dance. Such talent. Lots of hard work and dedication that make it look easy and relaxing , for our entertainment. I loved Fred and Ginger too ❤
In my early 50s, I'm too young to have seen this originally. Fred Astaire was an amazing talent as was Miss Hayworth. I could watch this over and over.
🙏 Rewatching these video of our olden Golden Hollywood Stars , make us so much more appreciative of just how Special & why they were revered so much as Superstars back then & to the present day ... Like a well styled & made suit , dress , bag , watch , house , car or an airplane ... They've achieved something that are Timeless! Thank You So Much for sharing! 🙏🌷🌿🌏✌💜🕊
Fred and Rita were the perfect dance partners and everything they dud was pure perfection, Rita Hayworth was so beutiful too, the both of them dancing to Jackie Wilson's " Higher and Higher " is my absolute favourite and their timing is amazing RIP Fred and the gorgeous Rita Hayworth ❤❤
I used to love watching tap dancing when I was a kid.. still do really. When I was a young child I would sometimes stay at my grandparents house on Sunday night and of course the Ed Sullivan show was watched. When people tapping would come on I always got up and danced along.. or thought so lol. My grandmother thought I should take dance . Of course we couldn't afford it but dreaming was fun ☺️
Allez voir les Nicholas Brothers...c'est fred Astaire qui s' rapproche d'eux.quoi que excellent danseur...les Brothers Nicholas sont meilleurs...sauf qu'ils étaient noirs...
Dear Rita was simply fabulous...my favorite is.COVER GIRL....its.also sad...we will NEVER see stars like this EVER AGAIN ..the GOLDEN ERA is.just a beautiful memory on the silver screen
I loved them since I was little. Sometimes my Mother would take me to MGM musical night at the local theater for fun in the sixties and I got to see them on the big screen. I’m 69 now lol
Had I been born in that era, I would have spent my life in movie theaters to watch the great movies with the great actors and dancers Hollywood used to produce. Nowadays….. nobody and no film are worth the price of the entry.
WoW!!! Whath a ballerines of the Golden Age of Broadway Musicals!!! I love both of them!!! Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth!!! Thanks you for posting!!!❤️🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👍🏼👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
So much has changed 😢.... Now days it seems they want to jump into acting and get their names out there, and not😮worry about the future.... They don't seem to care about preparing just in case their acting doesn't work out 😂.❤❤❤❤
Siempre me he preguntado porqué hay seres humanos tan perfectos casi en todo!! Bien reza el refrán que dice: "unos nacen con estrella y otros nacemos estrellados" 😂
