Ritchie Blackmore Sucks You In, Bleeds You Dry & Sets You Free - Doogie White former Rainbow singer

Ritchie Blackmore is a legendary guitarist, creating some of rocks biggest bands (Deep Purple & Rainbow). But despite his virtuoso guitar skills, he's known to be a difficult person when it comes to relationships. One man that worked with Ritchie was former Rainbow lead singer Doogie White. Doogie says he is forever grateful for the opportunity he gave him but hasn't spoken to him since leaving the band in the 90s. But that's not unusual. Ritchie has helped forge the career of many top musicians and singers, including Ronnie James Dio, Joe Lynn Turner, David Coverdale, Graham Bonnet and others. Doogie explains that Ritchie's way is to take you from nowhere, give you a platform to shine and then set you free in to the world to see if you sink or swim.

Love Doogie White. ---My wife and I met him a few times. He makes one feel like you are talking to a really cool friend at a rock concert. What a super nice person he is. I so love his voice. He sang Lights Out with Schanker, and it was like a dream. I do not think people like him come around too often. That might be why he gets along so well with these huge rock stars. -----Thanks, Doogie for always taking the time to talk music and sign my records. You singed my Stormbringer record three times starting at the Birch Hill in New Jersey in 97(even know you were not on it)----Thanks for all the great music brother!!!

But as soon as he realises I was with a group/ my dad, brother in-law, and couple of friends he quickly became more friendly. I was a big fan of his rainbow and yngwie malmsteen stuff. Now I don't really bother with any of his albums! P.s I did recognise him until Eric said he was in the crowd. But I did recognise the name it's self.

I was a huge Bonnet fan back in the day, I dipped out after JLT (who I also liked) and was only vaguely aware that they'd even reformed so had never even heard of Doogie. Reading into it a bit today it's wild seeing him with (one version of?) Alcatrazz. I suppose that revolving door between / among rock bands always existed so maybe not such a big surprise after all. Anyway Doogie seems to have a great attitude about the whole thing, and it's nice to see him & Bonnet saying nice stuff about each other, so rarely the case in these situations.

Wow. I had no idea that Doogie White is Scottish. He has a beautiful accent. This was actually a very fair and balanced way of looking at things. Yes, Ritchie Blackmore is a notorious bitch to work with and for, but he does make a very good point at the end there. He did give Ronnie James Dio, Jimmy Bain, Tony Carey, Cozy Powell, Bob Daisley, Graham Bonnet, Bobby Rondinelli, and Joe Lynn Turner the springboard from which they were able to become the legends that they are today.

@Stefan-
@Stefan- Год назад
@@therearenogods3716 Yeah, Cozy was a top level drummer even before Rainbow, he had played with Jeff Beck before that for example and Graham Bonnet had a hit single (only one woman) already in 1968 that was written by Bee gees . Ronnie James Dio was a very experienced singer and was in his early 30´s when he joined Rainbow, he had been recording since the late 50´s and had also recorded three albums with his then current band Elf which were support act for Deep purple on tour which is where Blackmore found him. Blackmore and Rainbow was definately a springboard but these musicians were definately no slouches or beginners etc, more like hardened pro´s and they got a boost to take them further up the ladder.

Definitely the best rainbow album after ronnie's era. It was a throwback to that era, more focused on the hard rock side of rainbow instead of the pop-ish attitude he had with joe lynn turner and bonnet as singers. There is a live show filmed in germany of that album's tour in 1995. In my opinion, ritchie played his best that night. Often time ritchie's live solos haven't been as consistent as the album's ones. Just a little insight into the 90's period with Doogie: Ritchie wanted a blues-based album, under the name "Moon" - a sir name.....but Ritchie felt compelled to ask Doogie what sorta album he wanted: Doogie suggested in the style of Deep Purple's Burn, and the classic Rainbow sound.....and that gave birth to Stranger In Us All; which...like many of you....I agree: an amazing album with a top-notch band. So yea....Doogie did more than sing: he impacted the sound and style of the LP.

Found the Stranger In Us All cd from a supermarket among low price bargains and bought it, it must have been 1997. Loved the album then and still think that it´s one of the better Rainbow albums. Really liked Doogie´s voice and have followed what he´s been up to ever since. So that was very true and wisely put what he said in the interview.

Ritchie sent Doogie to the naughty step once - during a live show and just before one of Ritchie's solos, Doogie said, 'ladies and gentlemen, Mr Ritchie Blackmore...' After the show Ritchie took him to one side and said, 'don't ever introduce me on stage again, they know who I am.'

Which goes to show what an absolute jerk blackmore has always been.

@Anthony Mitchell Do you mean who is Richie Blackmore, or are you referring to someone else....?

Yeah… That’s right. Ritchie Blackmore is a living legend. He has earned the right to request to either be introduced, or not. Your story, is a non story. It just makes you sound like a hater.

@@deadreckoning292 What are you talking about?? My story adds further credibility to Ritchie Blackmore's legendary status - you stupid shit!

Doogie is just a down to earth great guy……not many around with such a good attitude and gratitude for what he was offered. As a guitar player I’ve always admired Ritchie, but let’s get it straight, he can be a real asshole sometimes 🎶

I think Blackmore's guitar tone could be the best ever, that being said, Blackmore is also the weirdest guitar player ever, he is not a good person.

This reincsrnation of Rainbow had the potential to be as good or better than the Powell/Dio years...what a loss!!
