i would try the other impeller back in with the riva grate as it is able to remove the water better when the grate is over stuffing the pump your RPM should drop as well
shocking difference in top speed. I will say my 16 fx svho comes unhooked easily in rough water but also dont care about running as fast as possible at all times. At 59pmh a seadoo X4 with a 800 will keep up with your ski and would be alot more fun doing it
Kinda crazy. I've always been wondering why I'm below average for my mods including the Riva intake grate. I'm still baffled tho. I've placed both my Riva and my OEM intake grate side by side and the only difference i see is the center bar is removed on the Riva. Did u put them side by side with each other for a comparison? It's baffling!
Best way to view a grate is its a wing dragging in the water while your trying to fly the ski across the water surface. If the wing on it is at a steeper angle or is mounted too low on the grate the hull will ride much lower in the water.Rough water hookup goes up but top speed goes down.Riva grates have always been a slower rough water design going back to the GPR days.We only run stock or R&D scoops grates
The loss of top end is normal and expected with that grate. The hookup is what it's designed for. That extra hookup creates more drag in the propulsion system. I would never use that grate for the simple reason it will let much larger obstacles to get to the impeller. I ride not always in the cleanest waters and some times in the gulf. That's the last place you want to suck up something that will blow the impeller to bits and send it thru the tunnel sinking the ski. Really looking forward to getting my ski (FZR) up and running again I love the sound of that exhaust.
Same thing happened to my fx. Riva intake grate not good for our skis. The original is a better option and gains more speed. So I will be selling my Riva intake.
I just bought a 2021 GP1800R HO. Maybe I should have got the SVHO, but I like the NA engines. Do you think the tune is worth it? I have done a ribbon delete, cold air intake, crankcase breather and riva sponsons thus far.
Nice build. Wow you are like the third person I see losing Mph after installing the Riva Intake Grate. I have one and have not install it just yet. Waiting for Worxs intake to be available.
