Rivals Episode Ten - The Cooly Kids 

Like a lot of Australian surfers I have made the annual cyclone season pilgrimage to Cooly over the last 30 years. I remember seeing all these guys growing up and was always amazed how much talent the young kids had compared to South Australian kids. I remember Joel waaay back in the barrel with me thinking no one lad I'm going... I just pulled back in time as he came sliding through. I thought to myself he'll be a world champ one day if he can pull that off!

What other sport smites you for life like surfing? Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Both can cause a loss of sleep still when you are an old man. Ask me how I know? What an adventure these guys lives are thanks to surfing and each other.
