The conclusion to my sub 5:30 journey.
This run features a slightly new route incorporating zip nodes as well as faster execution in general thanks to more optimized inputs and of course lots and lots of practice.
The run contains only one very glaring mistake (failing to close the door on Boiler Island, losing over 1 second), but I can't complain about the rest of the run, and the final time is significantly better than what I originally imagined I could achieve when I started down this road to sub 5:30 about a month ago, so overall I'm happy to leave it here.
The missed final zip hotspot is ironic...
The Sum of Best now being 5:20, someone could definitely get sub 5:20 with a lucky dome code, though it won't be easy.

I just realized. Atrus escapes through a book and lets the book fall into oblivion before you can even escape into the book also. Leaving you to die in the void of space. How selfish and horrific

Who really knows if it's actually space as we know it? Seeing how there were "voids" in there that looked like connections to other ages, it may not be the same "space" we send our space shuttles up and through (and back from).

The Star Fissure is actually a path to Earth where the Stranger comes from. Atrus did once jump into the Star Fissure with the last Myst linking book and linked to Myst while he fell. The linking book eventually ended up on Earth where the Stranger found it, and so begins the story of Myst and Riven.

How do you skip the dome camera animation? I always have to wait forever for it to loop to the right color symbol

If you click the button and skip its cutscene immediately after zooming in on the scope, then it registers as the correct symbol (because the loop starts on the correct symbol).
