That theme is so incredible, Robyn Miller's music was always unbelievably atmospheric. A huge part of what made these games so magical.

Definitely the best logo intro Cyan has ever done, IMHO. So great to see it updated for the 21st century. The fissure in place of the sun was also a nice touch!

There is something so damn epic about RIVEN's intro. The score here is phenomenal, it has always been one of my favourites. I'll never forget the moment I first played RIVEN and the old version of this came on. Headphones on, lights out, and finally delving deeper into this world I came to love as a kid, finally going back to Atrus like in the original game, but this time, the story would continue! The logo, the stars, the music, they give you a feeling of deep mystery and expaning lore, they feel more epic than many movie logo intros and gosh, I love it so, so much. Can't wait for the new RIVEN!

I am so excited for this. The fact that the sunlight now comes through the fissure (instead of just being from the sun in space per the original intro) is such a clever addition, because it stealthily primes people to understand that the fissure is a crack, a fault between world and space.

This brings tears to my eyes, literally. I’m typing through clouded vision. That introduction just gave me chills all over again just like the first time I saw it all those years ago.

Still gives me chills after all this time. Really excited to make the trip down memory lane when the remake gets released!

I have very distinct memories as a 4 year old, putting in the CD-ROM my parents had of this game, and this intro would give me goose bumps every time. I was just a kid, but freaking loved this game! So excited for the remake!

Still hits me the same as when I was eleven years old. I never imagined the light behind the rock could be the _Star Fissure_ -- but I had always wondered why the bloom from that light, in the original sequence, was such a jagged shape. It was always there.

Majestic.

And what not too many people realise is that that horn sound is the sound Robyn made for the Marel-Obe instrument that Gehn plays (it can be found hanging in the wall in his bedroom in the 233rd Age) so "technically" this could be GEHN playing this music. Haunting. He is such a complex character and just speaks to the brilliance that Cyan expressed in this "game".

YES!!! I've always loved this version of the Cyan Logo the best! The remastered visuals and audio is incredible. My high school girlfriend got annoyed with me because I would always let this play in full every time we started up the game back in the day. Totally worth it! Please keep this logo for the startup sequence for the remake. =D

hearing the music with the visual , at such an improved bitrate is INSANE. it's now dawning on me how crazy it's gonna be booting this work of art up.

I was scared that it would not have been put in the game, but seeing it now is really impressive and brings back many good memories.

A good game sets the mood before you even start playing with an amazing intro. Cyan decides to do this with their logo bumper and the hype train's full-speed before the intro is even playing. It's like it's still 1997.

Hands down one of the most exciting teasing videos about Riven. You managed to remake this epic intro even more epic, by adding cool details to it, like the light coming through the fissure!

A teacher of mine who shares my love of old computers and their games gifted me Myst and Riven as well as an iMac G3. Best gaming experience I've had in years! I already invited him to play the riven remake with me when it comes out, I am so excited to spend time with him again over this game!

You even kept the music delay between where it transitions from night to day and zooms out. Where the music hits it should transition right then, but it doesn’t, instead it waits a beat or two longer just like in ‘97. Perfect!

I still remember the chills I felt when I first clapped eyes on the original! This is AWESOME! Beautifully well done, like other have said it's SO nostalgic! What a piece of art this game was/is!!!! The story, the music, the rendering, the live actors that truly brought it to life...everything! Eta: as mentioned below too...that fissure at 0:02 replacing the sun in the original version is genius!!!!

Im a huge fan of Myst from back in the day. I first played Riven about 2 years ago. for one reason or another I never got around to playing it sooner. Either way, I loved Riven when I did get finally get to play it. I am so hyped that the remake is coming out this year and seeing this intro really has sent me back.

IMHO this is the best game intro ever. Like 5 minutes total introduction as if stepping into a movie. And back then you had no clue whatsoever what you jumped into. Yes, now we do, but back then we didn’t. Even Cyan themselves never topped this intro. To me Riven always has been the absolute pinnacle of gaming. Not just because of this intro. However, not too long ago, I restarted playing Myst Online (I never got anywhere really with the original version back then; my PC just couldn’t handle it), and I have to say, Riven is really hard pressed to keep its top spot. Myst Online is really, really awesome. Awesome even hardly does it justice. However, the intro can’t keep up with Riven’s. However, the remake of Riven might as well regain its top spot. Whether that will really happen remains to be seen. But what we’ve been shown so far, looks really, really promising. What already will be clear: this intro was, is, and probably will never be beaten. There’s so many subtleties, that you only start noticing once the eagerness of wanting to play the game has subsided, that it’s practically impossible to outdo it. Can’t wait for the remake to be released. Should be a blast.

Very nice. I love the extra detail afforded by the higher resolution. Plus yes, that soundtrack has always been emotion inducing. Now we just have to see the bit after this. Can't wait.

I was so excited to learn that there's going to be VR support. Myst in VR is amazing, and I bought Firmament to bridge the time until we get the sequel, too. Cyan games are just such a good fit for the format.

man that's beautiful and nostalgic. like curling up by the fire with a cozy blanket and a warm drink as you admire the weather outside. :)

And the best part about that theme music… On your first viewing, it pulls on you. Hard. But as you progress through the game and hear and see more, experience the many scenes and the drama? It becomes MORE, not less, urgent. It’s not something you skip past, growing bored with it. So many small themes from so many other places and moments from the game, all carefully woven together into a tiny, brief piece.

This simple yet amazing intro has given me the chills (in a good way) since the very first time I played Riven when it was first released. I read the Myst novels and play the games every autumn and I still get those chills and goosebumps to this intro. Really sets the the tone of Riven immediately. Much love from a devoted fan who's excited to experience the updated version of my favorite game of all time: Riven!

You know, I always thought that the transition from stars to sky was supposed to line up with the drum beat in the music, and the fact that it didn’t in Riven was some kind of video sync error. I’m surprised to learn here that it wasn’t a mistake.
