It is an amazing game for that reason. All of the puzzles in the original Riven were inworld and made sense for their environment, I love Riven so much. It is such an immersive and beautiful game.

I love the original Riven. My dad and I played it together (he passed in 2022, so i am sad he couldn't live to see this remake, guess it took them too long to make it because I had been saying they should do it for a number of years now with technology getting so good) I am not a fan of the changing of the dialogue though, I wish they had just kept the audio/voice lines the same and did the 3d models if they had to, since Gehn is no longer with us. For real though the 3d models do not do it for me. The real actors FMV mixed with the game made it feel like a real place. The footsteps feel very stock as well in terms of audio. Dan pretending to not know anything even though he for sure played Riven before :P

YES, YES, YES! OMG YES. I loved your myst playthroughs and when the twitch drama happened i could not find them anymore. I asked on a couple of other video's if you would play them again for youtube. So happy about this. still holding out hope for the rest of series getting a playthrough on here as well. But i know they don't really have the audience anymore.

What happened with Twitch? I remember DansGaming streaming there for a long time, biggest memory of Dan I have is playing the end of Darkwood when I jumped in to watch and thinking that was what the game was like, only to play Darkwood myself and realize it was totally different lol.

Thank goodness I will never be called upon to be a protaganist in an adventure game because I could never run around a strange environment solving puzzles without coffee and snacks.

The original was not PC only. I played through it on PSone. It was also released on Saturn.

For the elevator level with the alligator the level won’t work for me, I tried everything and it won’t move

@@Iloveturtles you mean the statue with the creepy mouth animal in the jungle? With the orange lights surrounding it? That's a wahrk. It's the tusked fish that eats people at the gallows. You can't open it from the outside, but when you enter the elevator from another place, all you have to do is move the round lever up, down or to the middle to make it work. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're referring to. Maybe you could put a timestamp here so I can see what you're referring to in the video?

Riven became a cross between an adventure and Dear Esther, but more close to a walking simulator due to the pretty environment.

I don´t get it, suddenly so many uploads of a PUZZLE game called RIVEN, when you KNOW there are very hard puzzles in this game. So why not FIRST practice the game and THEN you upload the game when you finished your practicing?

I have no idea what that means this was a livestream of me figuring out puzzles in real time. You can't practice puzzles in Myst games they aren't like traditional puzzles, you have no idea what the puzzles will involve.

@@DansGaming I guess he just wants you to get the walkthrough and play it that way. I checked out your video (didn't watch it all the way because I want to play it myself) but I played OG Myst but never Riven so this will be all new for me. The world looks great I just hope it plays on an RX 580 8GB in 1080 without being blurry.
