Did the exact same journey in a £10 kids dinghy in 1981 with my cousin Dave.Seem to remember a bar that became exposed at low tide near the marina,.We 'launched' near Larpool viaduct as we had camped at Airy Hill Remember being intimidated with the skin heads on scooters by the harbour as we were only 15/13 years old at the time ,the Galaxian space invader game took all my spending money, cheap Rubics cubes took Daves as they had had their day by then. Crabs legs in a bag for10p was tea. Cannot believe we thought nothing of it,distinctly remember tourists gawping at us and seeing rats on the harbour piling. Thought we'd live forever,fantastic innocent times.
