If you cast just a yard or so upstream and then when the feeder has landed pay out line, a couple of feet at a time you will find that you can get even a 10 or 15g feeder to hold bottom but still be easily shifted by the small fish. While this is less important for the barbel you won't miss many bites from the other fish by fishing his way. After a bit of practice you will get to know (by feeling the line) how much line you need to pay out. The bites are usually rattly dropbacks.
I know it's a 2yr old vid but if you ever get anymore look on the belly for a blue or black spot. As all the barbel in the river hull are from my dad's work an ea fish farm. The ones without a spot have naturally grown from the first lot introduced
Also, when returning barbel you need to rest them in the water before returning them otherwise they don't have the energy to stay upright in the flow go belly up and die
Hi new subscriber here, good angling there, just wondering if you can point me in the right direction for a barbel or 2 I’ve been looking at weel and around that area, just wondering if I’m in with a shot of one around here, thanks in advance, tight lines
i think there might be a few up that end, but i mainly fish lower down around dunswell. There are plenty of barbel up to 8-9lb in the stretches mentioned, hope that helps!
As your poaching my stretch lol we use a 2oz drennan flat feeder or the korum grub feeder both good but pricy if you snag up and can go up to a 3.5 if theirs flow on great video lads iv being watching
Also i have found braid mainline to a mono leader is good iv had a few out of the river this season nice to see you both getting a line wet I will see you in person with some pics Paul tight lines
Congrats on the barble mate but best letting them rest in the net for a couple of minutes before releasing them they put so much energy into a fight they dont reserve any so letting them rest will stop them going belly up
I know a lot of people use longer hook lengths for barbel, but on here you dont need 3-4 ft hook lengths. And i don't overfeed with the feeder as the tide was turning.
Days where the fishing is harder it'd be worth trying a longer hooklength just to see if the barbel are sat at the back of the swim like they tend to do
@@hullebikerfishing yes had a walk up to greens lane yesterday and found a nice area to fish from, you mainly using maggot feeders? Float fishing waste of time?
@@ryandosdale1248 yes maggot feeders for skimmers perch and dace, and pellet feeder with 8mm banded pellet or small 10mm boilie for Barbel. corn and bread also works well for roach to 2lb!
