River Mayurakshi India.Mayurkshi River is a very important river of Bengal which originates from the Trikut Hills in Jharkhand and the river joins the Bhagirathi River near Kandi in Murshidabad. Two large barrages or dams have been constructed on this river, Messenger and Tilpara. The two dams were built mainly to improve irrigation. Messenger Dam has been constructed in Dumka region of Jharkhand and Mihir Lal Tilpara Barrage has been constructed in Tilpara of Birbhum. The condition of the river is now dire. The river crosses Jharkhand and enters Birbhum near Ilambazar. After the Tilpara barrage, the river is no longer traceable. Illegal sand mining throughout the river is seriously destroying the biodiversity of the river. The tributaries or tributaries of Mayurakshi are Daroka, Brahmani, Kopai, Brakkeshwar, Matri Nadi respectively with the extinction of Mayurakshi and its tributaries are also on the verge of destruction today. Not only illegal sand mining, a large area of Birbhum, Burdwan, Murshidabad is cultivated by taking water through canals from Messenger and Tilpara barrages on Mayurakshi river. This water is also piped to Brakeswar Thermal Power Station. All in all, the river is dry and the wood is strong.
We are trying to find the dead or almost dead rivers across Bengal and bring them to the common people through our channel (Environment and Rivers of Bengal). This civilization of ours is riverine, but in reality, the river is now our brotherhood.
River is the birthplace of civilization so death of river means death of civilization. Let us identify the lost rivers of Bengal. And we vow to preserve dead and near-dead rivers. In addition to the rivers of Bengal, we have tried to highlight the wetlands of Bengal, the ecosystem and biodiversity of Bengal in our channel. For example, birds of Bengal, snakes of Bengal, insects of Bengal etc. Global warming and water crisis which are destroying the biodiversity and animal existence of the whole world day by day. So we mainly make public awareness videos on our channel.
