Great video Rick. Nice information. You should invest in a .22 for those crows 😂

Hey Rick, great informative video..... question for you. My daughter and I will be there around July 10th. Is something likely to be running? If so, will casting spoons work from the bank?

Hey, I just ran into your channel and noticed some issues. I'm an Alaskan and have spent almost 50 years there, I have a lifetime of fishing salmon. When salmon are returning to spawn they are not eating shit for food. They are sucking up the eggs for protection. They will suck them up and spit them out. Steelhead will eat them. Keep that in mind.

Hey Rick have you been fishing the skagit sockeye run this year? Late to the game here just wondering if it would be worth my time. I Live in monroe and I'm thinking of taking my sled up. Sounds like fun. Great tutorial bud. Thanks

How shallow is the Skagit river? Only for jet pumps? Can I get my outboard prop in there? Are the banks crazy packed? Thanks!

Gerald Roemer you might be ok in the lower river to a certain point. There are a lot of debris and logs in the river. Definitely a jet river

Gerald Roemer oh and for bank fishing it can be but just like anything else just depends when you go

@ Gerald If you want to run a prop on the skagit your pretty much limited to just upstream of the Burlington launch downstream. I would go with someone who knows the river 1st as well so you can learn the areas you can run etc

I live on the river, and there are a couple of deeper holes on the river upstream of Burligton where props will be o.k. BUT you have to know where they are. Launch/land spots upstream are sketchy too. If you don't know the river I recommend that if you are running a prop, sticking to the lower reaches is probably the smart thing to do. Most serious upstream locals run jets, unless they are confining themselves to the deeper holes. Be aware that for props, the other hazards besides rock is a lot of woody debris in the river below the surface. Largely sunken snags from the previous winter flooding, that if hit can really do a number on your propellors. As Rick notes, most fish are running in lanes, not far from shore.
