Yup, I strongly suggest that if you’re going to trap rivers, use floats! If you use them in the fall you need to be on beaver, if using them in spring, the beaver will come to you. I was catching beaver this past March after ice breakup with floats and my water levels were rising and falling as much as 3.5’ !!! V-shape works the best from my experience because the strong current will hold the float steady with a rod to allow the change of water height and keep the float from swinging. Make sure you balance the floats so you will get the trap at the correct amount above water.

Beaver trapping is fun as long as you don’t have far to walk

Maybe you might want to look into the float option when you are trapping on the river banks and many make it easier, but I also understood that they are awkward to handle at times because of their size, but that is based upon how you design your floats and all big and how many traps you want on the float itself and how many of them you want, but I do know that they do work wonders on rivers that go up and down. Some of them had double traps on the float itself to catch more than one beaver with the 3030s on each end and there have been some that had footholds on as well for muskrats in addition to snares also attached to them, they set them up differently each one, but I wonder what the outcome if you had several of these floats out with two of the 3030s, four of the footholds and for snares on one traps and how many of beavers could be caught on one trap I know it would be better off having it separated. Why did you decide to use some floaters? I noticed that people use floaters on the river. Due to the fluctuation of the river, going up and down if they used the floaters they didn’t have to worry about the tide of the river fluctuation; they did have to worry about how far to go about from the shoreline, though they did use weights or long poles to go to the ground to keep the floats in place. Sincerely! R.S.V.

A frame 330 beaver floats work good in up and down river water
