With the river still in full spate and temps continuing to drop any fish was going to be most welcome. Maggot blockend swim feeder felt the right place to start and a switch to a roving approach with luncheon meat was plan B.

Superb! I love your films. I often found that anything with loads of garlic in is great for the chub and barbel on the Wye. The powdered garlic from equestrian suppliers is brilliant, and the cheapest way I've found to buy it. I put it in stick mixes, groundbait, paste, cover meat in it, and maggots and hemp. It seems to work especially when it's carrying alot of colour. The smell must carry a long way underwater.

Thank you so much for sharing such great knowledge, I tried the dynamite baits garlic meat back in the summer and had to leave early just to catch Dominos before they closed.

Another enjoyable watch, thank you! The Wye was in serious flood but you knew where to find the slacker areas. To be able to trot in the winter months is a joy, well done!

Hi Harry, The river was probably just on the verge of being unfishable but I want to try and share as many of the day ticket stretches as possible before March so the chub was most welcomed. Hopefully the weather settles and the centrepin will be out a lot more over the coming months Thank you sincerely for your continued support and time.

Well another belting chub but I honestly can't see to many tackle manufacturers queuing up to make that new seat design a best seller. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Another very enjoyable video, well done. When using a blockend feeder with maggots I use a size 8 wide gape hook and cram on up to 10 maggots. Another method that can be productive is to use a blockend feeder full of maggots with meat on the hook.

Hi Steve, I'm liking the maggots and meat tip and big thanks for sharing quality advice. It's important that our channel is a place for Anglers to share ideas amd youre becoming a founding father.

Try hair rigging a bunch of maggots instead of on the hook.. it is deadly for big chub and barbel.

@@BuyOneGetOneFree Interesting idea and one I'm going to have to try the winter. Thanks for taking the time to comment its very much appreciated

@@silentangling I usually use a needle to thread a bunch onto a length of floss and tie onto the hair, or use Korda maggot clips. Need to use a very stiff hair link to stop the maggots masking the hook. Works great for carp too.

@@BuyOneGetOneFreeI was doing it but I got too much interest from small fish and crayfish in the summer. Should work better in cold water.

More excellence. At this time of year I've started preparing my meat the day before. I cube it, sprinkle it with salt(toughens it) and soak it in honey just to make a difference. Seems to work.

Hi Steve, The thought of your meat is making me hungry.... Thanks for sharing some quality bait tips. I always wanted this channel to be a collection of Anglers chewing the fat Thanks as always for the support it's certainly helping the channel grow and for that I'm truly thankful

Good idea mate, I'm using thin slice of pepperami to prevent the stopper from damaging the meat cube while casting. I think salting is going to help.
@silentangling
@silentangling 11 месяцев назад
@@MrMessiah44 that's pure genius but I don't think I've got the discipline to have pepperami in my bag for any length of time.

@@MrMessiah44 When using very large cubes of meat I sometimes thread the meat on first, then an 8mm drilled pellet against the quickstop, pushing it into the meat. Your idea sounds a good solution as well.

@@paulhughes7609 Hi Paul, I'm slowly just a scratching the surface of the waters above Hereford with this series so I guess we'll learn together. Sorry I could be of more help but if you pop into Woody's in Hereford and spent a few quid I'm sure he'll help. Hopefully another viewer might offer advice as on the last video there was some great local knowledge shared. Thanks for your time spent watching and especially commenting.
