"Riverdance, the Show" 1995, "Reel Around The Sun" 

I used to watch this everyday when I was a little girl. I was 3 years old when they brought this on VHS. I used to try and learn the dance haha. I miss the 90s

I never get tired of this number. It's like the "Stairway to Heaven" of Irish step dancing. It just can't be topped.

This has been and always will be my childhood on VHS...

Michael Flatley, the man who is fleet of foot! When he makes that entrance with his sleeves billowing in the wind, he isn't just striding onto that stage. He is almost flying!!!

I know the clip is 19 years old, and i've seen this a zillion times, but.........WOW!!!! Little things like this makes you so proud being Irish!

Michael Flately is amazing! ...now I want to prance and skip around the living room like i did when i was 5 years old (first time i saw this)

The hot blonde at the beginning(becomes the centre of the dance and lighting etc .....so clever and the hard hard work was so well together and put paid off in the end lol) 😍😍😍 8yr old me couldn't get enough of this...used to fantasize I was Michael...and even Jean ol !!!

I remember seeing this back in 1995. Had a seat near the band and the noise off those shoes was a lot more than you think. Absolutely stunning. 👏👏👏👏👏

Credit where credit is due. Those who criticize Michael Flatley should know that Irish dancing is something that he enjoys so much to the point that he almost had a heart attack. in 1989 he set the world's record of most taps per second (28 taps). In 1998 that record was broken when someone was able to perform 35 taps per second; and that person was: Michael Flatley. During his events he always tells the audience: If you have a dream.... follow it until you see it realized. Other Riverdance shows have dancers and performers that do a superb job, but cannot reach the level Mr. Flatley has. I'm saying this because many have the idea that he has a big ego, which is not true. He remembers the tough times he experience growing up. And if he had mixup or misunderstandings with others .... He is still human...!!! He is The Lord of the Dance.

This is my most favourite part of any Riverdance, ever! This rendition, no others! I have watched it so many times I can play the whole thing in my head off by heart!

Gosh so many memories, I was born into an Irish Catholic family (I was 2nd generation), my granddad was a fisherman from the Galway coast and my grandmom was from Belfast, I was 13 or so when Riverdance came out and I was sooo captivated, I bought and learned the sheet music for this entire album on the flute and also tin whistle. So many lovely memories with my mom and her family.

He is amazing. The move he does at about 3:14 is so adorable. I've watched other leads do this same dance and none of them are as good as he is or do the awesome moves he does. :P

i was only 8 when i first saw this and have been in love ever since, michael influenced me to become a tap dancer myself, I love riverdance and everything Michael Flatley ever did, it's no wonder they call him the "Million dollar dancer," lol

my parents introduced me to this when i was very very little. ive loved it ever since. we'd always tap our feet to the rhythm and hum to the melody. this song gives you such a rush!! i just HAVE to smile every time i hear this song.

Brings a tear to my eye with regret that I gave up!! My teacher wouldn't let me have a pair of heavy shoes till I'd passed my exam!!! My dad said I only wanted a pair of these just so I could make a noise!

i was 3yrs old in 1995 but i would sit in front of the tv and stare at them in awe......one reason why i started dancing in general :) by far the best version of riverdance that has ever shown.

Amazing...fair play for putting it on RU-vid....think this is the greatest of all the dancing productions since the initial 1994 Riverdance segment. Lord of the Dance was too flashy while Riverdance minus Flatley was never the same. Here it's just raw, pure dance with super music.

This was and still is one of my favorite shows to watch. I use to watch this all the time as a child, and I for the life of me can't find my VHS tape to watch it. T-T I'm so glad I found it here on youtube at least.

I agree, his talent is something else lol. And I admit, his amazing dancing has indeed touched my life and is mostly the reason I love Irish dance. Respect :) x

I have this show on VHS, and I must've started watching it at least twenty times, but I've never finished it since I always rewind this part and watch it over and over. Pure magic, to say the least.

This used to drive my grandmother potty!! She couldn't stand the constant sound of tap shoes and the speed of it, at the age of 6 I couldn't get enough of it!! Joined an Irish dance academy and quit for a stupid reason, just because I was the oldest in the group

thats exactly what happened with me-luckily i just bought it on amazon today so that i can relive some of those memories-my grandmother and i kinda made a tradition of watching it every time she would babysit when my parents went out

Yes, she did. That is where I got the comment the cast did not like working with him. She gave an interview years later in which she stated that he thought "Riverdance" was Michael Flatley and that their working relationship developed into an on stage relationship. In other words, they did not speak except when necessary. They did not like each other, apparently.

That moment at 3:33 still gives me goosebumps, still after 22+ years from the first time I saw it.

I agree, Disneyboy, Jean Butler is pretty hot, as are the other ladies in the troupe And I also agree about Michael Flatley being an amazing choreographer & Dancer This whole troupe has lots of talented people

When I was 6 my nana showed me Riverdance on VHS and I had the biggest crush on Michael Flatley and so badly wanted to be one of those dancers 😅

I gotta say, this incarnation of the River dance troupe is the best one in my opinion every one of them are amazing dancers and the ladies of the troupe are very attractive, especially Jean Butler

I never heard this music until Jason Brown skated to it. His enthusiasm and energy just made this music that much better.

One of the greatest things I have ever seen when he comes out but its the Irish music that makes it.

@HOWSHAR79 THANK YOU. Finally someone who actually understands. All this negativity and Flatley hate was caused by media who couldn't find any dirt to sling at him in the early years. They decided to paint him as egotistical, when he is actually FAR from it. He's just a "blue collar guy from Chicago who learned to dance the jig." He's such an inspiration.

There was a DVD of the '95 tour with "Lord of the pants" before his ego forced him to leave the group. It was sold on PBS as a fundraiser item.

I agree. I will always appreciate his talent and hard work, but I would not want to be his best friend.

I love this! It takes me back to a time in my life that was beautiful and simple. Like a lot of people, not all, but a lot, I thought Michael Flatley was a twat, having seen him in interviews and such, but when Lord of the Dance came to Australia, for those couple of hours, I fell in love! We were two rows back from the stage, and Michael Flatley held me captive from his first tap until his last. Absolutely amazing!!!!

Man, I can't believe this was done 14 years ago! I remember when it was brand-new, on PBS. I feel old, lol. And I think this the first run of "Riverdance" was the best. "Lord of the Dance" was flashier, but it didn't have the innocence or whatever this show had.

Michael Flatley is definitely my fave main male dancer of Riverdance. The others I have seen don't have the energy or flamboyancy that he has. GO MICHAEL!!!

I think it was every Irish 90s/early 2000s childhood to own this on VHS because my dad had it on VHS at the time and watched it all the time

Ego, or not. I wouldn't mind being trained by Flatley. The man is clearly a perfectionist in his craft, and that is rare to find now a days.
