@@planetmotherfuckers Beverly Hills ain't that bad. The lyrics are good, and the guitar "isn't all that great", but the lyrics carry the song, and that's why I think it's good.
@@quad7685 if anything it’s the other way around- the lyrics fucking suck on Beverly Hills, which probably gives it its reputation way more than the guitar does.
@@Awesomemusic19 I find this a faulty opinion, as the lyrics are relateable for most people, wishing to live that kind of lifestyle, but at some point, people have to accept that they probably never will, and have to move on.
I was fortunate enough to meet Rivers at USC in 2004 when he was supporting his bro Patrick Wilson at his side band's (The Special Goodness) show where my band at the time (Up Syndrome) opened for them. Rivers came up to me wearing a grey hoodie (hood up) and reminded ne a lot of Kurt Cobain. I had no idea there was some kind of conspiracy about the two, but anyway, he said he loved me and I said "thank you!" and walked away with my then girlfriend. Seconds later, I turned around and shouted "Rivers?!" He said "yeah" and I said "I love you too!" Definitely a humble spirit. I'd love to be his friend, but I'm thankful to have had at least that experience. I'll always love you, Rivers Cuomo!
True, but he was already in his late thirties by then. I’m 40 and I don’t think I would have been taking advantage of that had I been in his shoes, not at that age.
@@crispwhite9068 It's just the vibe he gives off. Watch Mulholland Drive you'll probably get what they mean. Blue Velvet is also great and so is Eraserhead if you like some weird shit
I admit when this song came out in 2005, I was 14 and had barely dipped my toes into 90s bands so I had no clue who Weezer was and what's worse is I thought Beverly Hills was their first hit. Shows how much I knew back then.
@@pottingsoil I CANT STOP PARTYING PARTYING I CANT STOP PARTYING PARTYING I GOTTA HAVE CONTROL I GOTTA HAVE THE BEAT I GOTTA HAVE ALOT OF PRETTY GIRLS AROUND ME
I discovered Weezer through memes (I'm young don't shoot me) but the more I dug about the more of a fan I became of their music and origin story. Rivers is an icon and I am a fan of him personally for everything he accomplished.
Same for me, too. I was 11 when I first listened to Beverly Hills, but the memes got me into learning more about the band and now Pinkerton is my favorite album of all time.
I remember when I went to UCONN in the 80s, there were a few kids who would walk around on campus sometimes, just talking. One of them really stuck with me, he was a skinny guy who walked hunched, in a shy manner. Turns out, that was Rivers Cuomo.
This is such a random comment. It's midnight and I'm strumming my guitar as I write this, but I have to say, Rivers Cuomo is my hero. I named my new guitar (PRS) 'Ace' after him. He inspired me to not only make music, but he taught me to enjoy it. You're the man, Rivers.
i love weezer and rivers. i love how he's such a rock star on stage, yet he's so nerdy, shy and awkward in person. makes him that much more attractive! all the best of luck to his wife and their kid. she is one very lucky girl! (:
This is a perfect situation for him, i mean there is no one else that could pull this off. He could live on an island in the sun, and live the good life across the sea, but instead he chooses to study here, and even be celibate! Guess he is tired of sex.
Ah yes, 2006, before the internet became as crazy as it is and celebrities could live just a bit more peacefully among us regulars. Those students were so lucky!
i wish i could meet him. I just discovered weezer and idk, i feel like i can relate to him... he seems so humble that maybe he will actually be grateful when i tell him how amazing he is...
I love rivers. That's why I love music. Music describes us, here he is a very shy and (somewhat lonely guy) and i think we could all relate to that. It lets us express ourselves & be who we want to be.:)
James Franco will be attending the same university as I am and even though he seems cool, I'd be so excited if there was a chance of bumping into Rivers....in my dorm! He's seems so sweet. I also saw Weezer perform recently and Rivers is so adorably awkward but quite silly on stage. They are still great live and played so many of their old goodies.
My personal opinion (not at all objective): Blue>Pinkerton>Maladroit>Green>Make Believe>Hurley>Red>>>>>>>>>>Raditude I'll have to wait a while to fit EWBAITE in there somewhere.
If you get accepted and can't afford to attend Harvard (as well as the other top Ivies, like Yale and, more than the others, Princeton) will generally pay as much as is needed.
Seems like a cool guy, and message never given up no matter how old you are, while following your dreams. ♥️ I have been in and out of school many times like him. I know how he feels.
I went to see Weezer in San Diego when they opened for No Doubt. As soon as Weezer finished , we left out to the tour busses. Never mind No Doubt. I didn't get to meet Rivers. But I got autograpghs from Brian and Pat. Ohh.. AndPetey X from Rocket from the Crypt was back there too!
I think maybe he meant as in before his vow of celibacy. During his period at Harvard, Rivers did have some sexual tendencies, and he wrote them down in Pinkerton
