Rivian R1S, R2S & R1T EVs are Plummeting in Value! No One Wants them!

Rivian doesn’t want your Tesla and nobody buys a car and expects it to hold value. The big problem is people were buying it to flip because of demand and now that’s softening. I bought one last week and it’s a great car. I am determined to hold it for as long as I can.

The Rivians are awesome I love my R1T the EV market is volatile right now due to all the uncertainty with the market but so are gas prices do the math and make a good decision for you. But the vehicles rivian is making are great

I own a R1S and paid 105k for it. It's an absolutely amazing vehicle. Totally worth it's price. It's one thing if you can't afford the vehicle, which is totally fair. But don't knock the car or the company. It's great.

Huge fan of the ceo and the rivian vehicles, but manufacturing cars is a disgustingly hard business. The stock price is reflecting that reality. However, im looking forward to their R2 reveal.

I just bought a used 2022 Rivian R1T with off road package and 10k miles for $67,500. Love it so far and honestly feel that i got a solid deal since its already depreciated. I bought a brand new 2022 Model 3 Performance during covid and paid a ridiculous $72,000. Then covid ended and they started pumping teslas out like crazy and just sold it a week ago and it was only worth $33,000. Is what it is i guess

What happened to the days when a car loses 30% of it's value the moment you drive off the parking lot? We are back to those times. A vehicle is not an asset so don't expect it to hold value. I bought my vehicles to drive the heck out of them.

Fed rates at 0%, and consumer auto Interest rates at 1.99% is/was an historical aberration and led to speculation. Where the rates are now, and should come down a bit in 2024 are more normal for our economy.

Some of what you say is true, but this is not a Rivian only problem. Banks aren't taking as much risk, interest rates are higher, people are concerned about the economy, etc. its not that the trucks are worthless as you say its that people can no longer afford them. Big difference! Now, the problem for Rivian is that thry are not diversified in that they don't have any more affordable products on offer. I do agree Rivian needs to make R2 available before 2026. Now, if rates come down or we have $5+ a gallon gas you may see a quick change in dwmand. The other issue and probably the biggest one is that inflation has taken away a lot of discretionary funds from American households. So even if they could get a loan and could afford the payment a year ago with the costs of everything else going up folks just don't have the room in their budget for an 80 to $100,000 vehicle.

They sell them used on cars and bids fyi. Also the best truck ever had. There is nothing even close to the performance range and efficiency of the R1T. I paid the before the price was raise cost and plan on keeping it for a decade. Already 36k miles on it. So it's do you want one or not. Check now R1T was sold for 72k on cars and bids prices starting to go up. New apr from Rivian 2.99 Tesla 1.99. Not bad.

These things are only good if you do long inner city commutes daily on highways. Besides that, I would go for a hybrid. Having said that it would be good to have one fully electric car in the driveway and I would probably choose Rivian. Would I buy at these prices? no freeking way, I'd rather pick one of the R1S cheap that has already been depreciated. If am going to be doing long road trips I would not choose electric.

It’s because folks were flipping EVs left and right in 2020 to early 2023, thinking it was a great sustainable business model. 😂 But I knew it was not. Cars have always been depreciating assets. Only time a car appreciates is when enough have been crushed that it’s now unique or are released in very limited numbers. Example my 1991 MR2 Turbo, bought it back in 2008 for $1500. Now I got people offering me $15,000 for it. 😂 Moral of my story, buy a car to enjoy - not as an investment.

Thank you for sharing, We canceled the purchase of 2 EVs, too many problems, very expensive maintenance, and extra expensive insurance, and if the electrical grid goes down, it will be an unusable rock outside our home, our friends and family are in the same situation. we will keep our traditional cars. nk more EVs.

I enjoyed watching it. Just a footnote, the apr has more to do with Jermome Powell who is head of the FED, they set the interest rates. He was appointed by trump. I am no fan of Biden or trump, but that is who sets the rate.

You failed to recognize a huge point. The battery is new technology. You keep saying it's the car, but it's the battery technology. It won't be ready for the P5 launch or anyone else by then.

I’m actually surprised how low the lease payments are on the Rivian. $721/month for the quad motor. My wife just got a GMC Acadia and the lease payment is $699 and the vehicle sticker price is less than half that of the Rivian. $90k for the Rivian vs $42k for the Acadia. The bottom model for Rivian is only $559/month. That’s almost $150/month cheaper than the Acadia and the Rivian is nearly $30k more than the Acadia! Not sure how Rivian is pulling that off.

You're right: the wrong time also the infrastructure not supportive. In difficult times, few have 100k to splash out on an indulgent vehicle.

Chinese companies can mass produce BEVs for $10K. $RIVN will be BK in 18 months unless another company buys them out. I like Rivian, but $80K to $100K/vehicle while they're losing $39K/vehicle with the most FED money pumping in history is unsustainable. I might scoop one up for pennies on the dollar 12-18 months from now.

I bought a 2024 R1S in December, Max Pack...$110,000. WORST car i have ever owned. On my 5th service call to repair the many defects. DO NOT BUY A RIVIAN!!!! I have written a few letters to execs in Irvine, CA...no reply. I was so enamored with both the Company and the cars. Now, I hope they fail soon, before defrauding more customers.

Rivian was already selling at a loss. Most EVs are selling at a loss except for Tesla. I am not surprised about the price hike. Tesla and Chinese EVs are going to dominate EVs. Even Elon Musk is calling for market protection laws because he can't compete against Chinese EVs if they enter the market in the states.

Have you seen a car factory? There are 5 plants in my state: GM, Toyota, Honda, Mazda and Hino. There are thousands of cars parked. That doesn´t mean no body wants them.

If i was going to spend $100k on a vehicle, i would buy a fully restored classic dream car. Those classics go up in value every year. I bought a 82 fj40 land cruiser a year ago for 35k and it's now worth about 43k.

Prices for tech always drop as mass production increases. Some folks paid thousands for flat screen TVs. Now they are a few hundred bucks. Not because people don’t want them. Because everyone makes em. You know what I’m taking about. You got 6 of em on that badass setup.

Nice computer setup! also there are hundreds of Tesla waiting to be bought. no one wants them at one of my local shopping malls called chesterfield mall in St. Louis Missouri. which is about to be demolished soon. The fact of the matter is no one wants to spend 100k on a vehicle...let alone a normal vehicle. I love the tech that comes with EV vehicles, but the prices are outrageous! Tesla is doing the right thing, pulling away from the S and X and focusing on the 3 and Y. Keep the vehicles in the range of 40-60k, and people will buy them!

Stop your grousing and grow up. It's the dynamics of instant depreciation of most cars when you drive it off the lot exacerbated by the EV future costs. EVs from Porsche, Audi, Bentley, Lambo, Tesla, Fisker, Rivian, have all been hit by inordinate depreciation. Porsche Taycans have taken a beating while late GT3/RS/Touring are 25-30% over MSRP. Flipping an R1S was short lived and Rivian's precarious finances and crappy mobile service are some of the reasons why people have walked. Leasing is the the way to go. Like a BIC lighter use it then lose it in two years. If you want vehicle appreciation EVs are definitely NOT it.

Rivian is headed for bankruptcy. Per the 3Q23 earnings call, net loss jumped from $1.2 bill to $1.4 bill. Rivian is losing money on SUVs, Pickup trucks and Amazon Delivery Vans. Rivian doesn’t seem to have a gameplan for ever becoming profitable. Last thing u want to own is a vehicle from a bankrupt car company. Don't see how anyone can recommend buying a Rivian under these circumstances or owning Rivian's stock
