Would be nice if the cameras would also record with the truck is moving like the Tesla. Hopefully they can update it through the software in the future.

@Paul Wilburn, I’ve actually done just that, and switching on the recirc was not an issue for me once I was familiar with the icon system. I find the UI very intuitive and it’s easy to get to what I need quickly.
Great overview. Rivian should license this video from you to provide to new owners. ;-) Now, I sure wish Rivian would hurry up with my reservation. Best they can tell me is Oct.-Dec. Ugh! 🙂
Thanks for this in depth review of the interface. I am considering a Rivian and I enjoy learning as much as I can before I visit one in person. 1 thing I have not been able to find is how the passenger changes the temperature for that side of the car. You pointed out the sync button, but I could not see a temperature control for the passenger. Thanks for any help you can give.
So it doesn’t show up in this video because no one was sitting in the passenger seat but when it senses a passenger you’ll have the temperature controls mirrored on the bottom right of the screen 👍🏻
@@ChargeOverland Thank you. Every video I have watched and they discussed the sync function, never had a passenger. Makes sense that the car is smart enough to know.
Can you do a driver POV drive around? You don’t need to do a lot/any commentary, which is why I assume people don’t do these. They feel like they have to constantly fill the silence. But simply going for a drive in suburban streets and hopping onto freeways would be nice to see.
I hope they add other music apps and entertainment mode like Tesla. I would like to watch Netflix or use other music other than Spotify, like Apple Music. If they add these, I will 💯 buy the R2
Can you do an in depth video of the interior in different lighting? There’s not a lot of coverage of the forest edge interior online. I think this would help a lot of reservation holders and future customers.

Very informative video! I reserved an R1S. But, I'm sure everything is pretty much the same. What's the interior color scheme on your R1T? Also, is a "garage" a door in the event you have more than one garage door?

So Spotify is the only supported app for music? I guess I am old and use Pandora - LOL! I think there should be more choices if Rivian forces you to ONLY use their UI (meaning no CARPLAY).
I’ve had my truck for just over two years with no difference in battery capacity or range. I’d expect a small loss over coming years but only a few percent.
The adaptive cruise control only works on certain roads at the moment. For the proximity unlock you just need to have the app on your phone and it will pop the door handles open when you approach👍
Actually, I can use cruise control on almost any road, it’s lane centering that is limited to mapped roads only- i.e. highways…. The “adaptive” part of cruise can be adjusted via-a-vis sensitivity, or even turned off.
@@aaronheyerdahl7196 So you can make the cruise control "dumb"? (That's a thing I've wished I could do on my Tesla to avoid phantom braking). Also, can you set the headlights to be on every time you drive or does it reset?
Same design flaws, as other screen-based interfaces. Small buttons! No shortcuts. Let’s say you’re driving and a big diesel truck gets in front of you. Quick, change air to recirculate - without looking at the tiny menu button as you’re rolling on the road. Oops, can’t do that, at least not very safely.
All the talk about distracted driving and they put a big fucking distraction in from the factory. Hope they get sued when someone is watching the screen instead of driving and cause an accident.
