There was a behind the scenes video for the last fart sketch they did where someone was making fart sounds live off-screen (John Michael Higgins IIRC.) If they did the same thing for this sketch it's understandable why their breaking.

They are both real pros not to break down laughing at fart sounds while live. Especially as it's clearly a sound effects person doing them live, so they'd come out sounding differently and catch them by surprise. The woman actress is truly a great talent on the show.

Fart jokes done right are among the most hilarious things in western civilization. Tina Fey wrote so many into 30 Rock and I always got a big laugh. Same for this. They always bury the best sketches late in the show!

IKR! I thought, wow she's not in period attire. Poor thing, she was trying to slip out unobtrusively through the door, but it wouldn't open. Then she had to walk off set in front. She probably never wanted a TV shot when millions will see her making a mistake, but not the kind the skit was about. I wonder if they'll fire her for the faux pas?
