RM 'Domodachi (feat. Little Simz)' MV REACTION 

My theory is that the two kids represent RM one is his childhood innocence and this is why he can't enter, the other is his teenage self. He started the underground scene around this age so this was him navigating the adult world underground, hence crawling through the tunnel. Then he emerged to the music scene, getting attention from the world making demands and requesting that he step up and represent more than just him. All while immersed in the repetitive corporate life where days are chaotic but feel the same. He doesn't feel part of this world because he's still young and hasnt had time to mature into his adult self. In this environment everyone is his friend and ask for photp ops and favors yet he can tell who is fake and who is genuine. Eventually this chaos hits a wall and he is spiraling and getting angry behind walls (the monster eye) but then he's pulled out of this situation by friends. He comes back to himself a little older a little wiser and can now face that world on his own.

I think that is RM's life. It was a simple one with his friends and family. Then he goes in that crazy life with fame, money, and success, where he is lost. But his friends ground him and help him out. Ultimately, he just wants to go back to his simple former life, his roots. And if you think about it, this is our reality too. We start with a simple, happy, life. Then, as adults, life becomes hectic, so we long for simplicity.

💜 I love this song & mv. I think it’s a young RM travelling thru life. Going through the trials & tribulations of the music industry, the rat race, commuter chaos, etc. But although he thinks of wandering away sometimes, he always is drawn back because of the music. Little Simz fire.

From this video I get his start in the underground rapping scene .. he probably faced a lot of opposition from his friends and his parents but he went right back to where his love for the art takes him .. this album is really Namjoon's true self 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Just like with his lyrics, this MV is multilayed. For me, the kid wasn't stopped from going to the other part, a dark part. He finds kids his age, but he's clearly different from them (the white shirts and his stripped one). The adults misguide him when he asks for guidance. Another kid that looks like him guides him through the chaos. However, stuck on this fast-moving train surrounded by adults that seem miserable in this society derails off course!! Here comes his friend, leading him out of the dark and dysfunctional tunnel towards a better place towards home. Even though he can continue in his better place, he goes back anyway. Now that could be to pull his friend out of the dark place or mean regardless he is still led back to that dark place. How many times when we're in a dark place, our friends come and snatch us out of that place. How many times have we looked to others that we think should know better and do better, but they don't!! In society, in life, in the entertainment industry, we can be misled and misguided. We can make new friends, but the old one's, the ones most like us are the ones to uplift us guide us out of unfamiliar and dark places. This MV, just like the song, is deep as hell!! RM is an artist in all aspects of the word!! L💜

There are actually many things to take from here...but the problem is there is no certain answer and it depends on our interpretation. An army on Twitter said that there are are actually 2 words used in this song 'tomodachi' which means friends in Japanese and 'domodachi' which is the title of the song. The friend at the start of the mv didn't follow the other friend and let him go through all the shits alone and only followed him again when all the chaos ended. The boy understood this and that's why he gone back to the friend who helped him when he was struggling, because he understood that he is actually his real friend.

My take which is probably completely wrong but 🤷‍♀️ BTS have always talked about how scary & big Seoul was when they arrived as teenagers. So I see a kid dreaming of going to big city. Had thoughts & dreams. Only to be caught up in the craziness of life. Being stuck on a crowded train people headed to jobs they hate. People fighting the system. Having a friend help you navigate it. RM song “Seoul” fits perfect with this song. Love & Hate this city. Then in Wildflower he wants to escape the the fields. The kids wants to escape but also wants to go back. I can hear in my head RM saying that he has thought about leaving multiple times but decided to stay bc he has things he wants to say & do with his music. I remember you guys relating to this in a video about New Orleans. The train turning into a toy is just big brother watching & our lives are not our own. People go to work & get stuck in the grind where they lose themselves. I am probably completely wrong & crazy. But that’s what I got from it.

RM don’t want to be typecast nor limited in his creative freedom while still making creative innovative music. He is so talented that he is his own competition. The industry will swallow you whole or carve you into little pieces. He wants to come out in one piece but he likes it so much, he questions his sincerity.

I still remember your 8yr anniversary crack dance and it still makes me laugh every time I see it. That scene makes me think of his underground rap days and how he navigated through it maybe the other kid was also from the underground rap scene helping him through, the reason the kids didn’t go with him is because he’s still in it while Rm has moved up from it, but later when he turns back at the end, it him not forgetting where he came from. 11 more days left can’t wait L💜

I wish RM was here to explain. The chaos made me anxious and I feel sad if it is RM childhood trauma (or their beginning). I am glad he could get some feelings out before going to the military, and hopefully he was more at peace . Love the drum piece, it sounds like a train going. Love Simz. This is a hard one - fits with the album theme of being lost and trying to find his place I think. Went into the music industry innocently and learned lessons the hard way - trapped, jostled around, dangerous situations and people everywhere - but surviving with the help of people he can trust and learning what’s important in life. Seeing the young boy in this situation is jarring which is likely how RM perceives his life / career so far. Remembering this is RM’s perception now, but as even he says, time will tell the story.

My thoughts: RM is referencing their debut years with this song. When they were still passionate, free and naive. As they navigated life and fame, they were thrown in all directions being told who they should be; by adults, fans, kpop culture, rap culture, etc. They were thrown into total self-confusion, somehow losing the essence of why they got into music to begin with. It lines up with their School Trilogy where they make a lot of reference to the pressures of adolescence and the unattainable expectations of grownups on them. RM is spitting out his heart with this album.

Here's my new theory. At the beginning, the man never wanted to stop "RM" from entering the tunnel. He was there to *bar* the other kid from entering and to let RM go in - because what's in the tunnel is the chaotic life of an idol. And the chaos gets worse and worse as RM gets more and more famous until finally he's down in the subway with a monster threatening to destroy him. But then there's that second kid who always arrives when RM is seriously in danger. The second kid leads him to safety but stays in the chaos - because the second kid represents ARMY! I think that's why he's wearing an olive-colored jacket - olive is the color of army uniforms in countries around the world.

This is a deep personal look into the past and present. When time compresses in and out of darkness and flashes of light where he is leading through the tension of accountability and personal freedom. The chorus relies on what seems to be a traditional chanting where the "friends" internal release is on stage when they are dancing. He is free from the turmoil of the pressures, he is the leader, he must go back. This is my impression of this song. Visually, a very powerful representation. ❤

The way I felt in this video is that Namjoon was entering the entertainment world. Some parents wouldn't let their kids enter but Namjoon entered and stil pretty much as a kid. That world felt busy, confusing, noisy and a mess. We can see politicians, CEOs, Public servers, people from the public in general all representing the diverse niches Nam had to deal with while still very young. All of them having their interests, their agendas. When I see the lyrics it seems the idea "We are all friends lets dance here" means the ilusion that all have the same interest, they are trustworthy but in reality they compete with each other, their interests may be conflicting and among all of that, there is Namjoon, lost. It feels the eternal survaillance from these groups of people always searching for him, for something, for their interests. The boy helping Nam could be Nam himself and thankfully he got out just in time to avoid the tragic end of that unstoppable train, leadind to a train wreck. At the end of that train wreck there is a creature lurking, waiting. This creature could be greed, madness, death. Namjoon gets out from all of it to the dawn of a new day but in the end he returns back to that havoc. I understand that this vodeo was made for us to think and to understand how he feels and the decisions he has to make to remain in that place or be free from all that.

I think the drummer at the beginning was the gate keeper luring him in. The call and response is hypnotic, really cool. The boy on the train is upset, anxious and trying to get out but he ends up going back - maybe to rescue the other boy that helped him. I don't know, its a mystery lol ! But its RM and you know the music is fantastic, not familiar with Little Simz but would like to hear more - excellent collaboration.

Sidenote: When Ajj said he still had hope that RM would be in the video with Simz, I heard J-Hope's voice say in my head, "I'm your hope. You're my hope..." 😂😂 I don't get the video, but maybe he'll surprise us with another video with one of the other members discussing the creative direction he took with the visuals. 🙏🏾🙏🏾 But it needs to be said that sonically, this album is top tier. The live instruments, the fusion of jazz and hiphop. It's reminscent of Guru.

I think it was, in part, a Young Boy battered by Adult Stresses too early, (while his Friend's Father stopped the boy from entering). The Companion helped him avoid the worst by Navigating away from the most dangerous (Police Barricades), but they both were trapped by the Train. They were small enough to thread through the crush and escape the Monster (Godzilla???) at the Track's End. He escaped, but decided he wanted the Excitement of Adulthood versus the Idyllic Simplicity of Childhood. The fact the Song, itself, is in Korean, English, and Japanese, makes me wonder if the Kaiju Eye is indicative of Godzilla - WWII and the Tortured, Entangled, Histories of the three countries?

The kid are the rest of the BTS members or someone in specific that needs to save and protect.

Looking at the video and thinking about where Nami wanted to go on this album...I get the conclusion that he just wanted to tell his story. Of course, he had some things that he wanted to get off his chest or blow some steam off. And I care to think that, those things were and are apart of the story that he wanted to direct us to. And to simply put it....he gave it an artistic sort of type of flair to it. Almost in an enigmatic spin if you will. And I watched all of the videos and listen well to the lyrics. I can tell that he really put thought into it because there is a message with each one. The videos to those songs animate the feelings and passion that he's displaying, even when he's not in them such as this. So, I can conclude that Nami's approach to his thoughts is just like Jimin said...it's like reading his diary. Well done my love!

I felt like it was his life. A normal life to start, then he joined the underground, then BTS, then the battlefield that is this life. He found friends that helped him get out, in a sense saved him. The ending for me represents that he could go back to that normal calm life, but he goes back for his friends. To save them. The friends/kids are BTS. He goes back for them. 😘💜🫰🏻🫶🏻

Could the kid be JK? Did JK help RM through some emotions when he was growing into teen/adulthood? Then RM helped JK through his issues during teen/adulthood?

Not sure I understand what he is saying/ showing us. I've watched it several times now. I've read some comments. I also googled the lyrics with some explanations. I think that the idea of going back to save more youth is valid. The youth he is saving might be himself. Maybe reminding his adult self that there's good in things even with the bad. You said “that’s a wrap” but the video wasn’t over - the boy (RM, I think we mostly agree on that) turns around and goes back to the tunnel, to the train, to the whole chaotic mess of it all that he just escaped from!
