Konkani language is mixture of largely Marathi, and little of Kannada and sanskrit.. but our primary education is mainly carried out in Marathi. Konkani as a language is not very rich in literature as compared to Marathi and there is no uniform Konkani language as well. It changes according to place, religion and even caste. Even for religious rituals we use Marathi only. Konkani spoken by Christians also involves lot of Portuguese words. If you travel from Goa to Maharashtra, village by village you'll notice how Konkani changes into Marathi. And that transition starts in north of Goa itself. So people from north of Goa are largely inclined to Marathi. Such is the scenario. We can always view Marathi Konkani relation as that of mother and daughter.

His entire life and his contribution will be a great souce of inspiration and reverence for us. I felt almost heartbroken and anguished the moment I heard about his demise.
