I’ve been watching Mick Lynch from Ireland for a number of years.He is a tremendous advocate for truth and fairness.Politicians in England both Conservative and Labour need to listen and represent people with honesty and integrity.
Of course the Irish, Catholic background that formed his social conscience, and that valued education in his home, gets written out of the rightly indignant and lethally capable advocate that he is.
Great speech, bringing hope to the country for the first time in years. Mick Lynch and people of his ilk should always be backed by the working classes.
When medical consultants cheer to the rafters an ardent trade unionist passionately urging them to fight to defend their industry (the NHS) it is a sign of true change in Britain! So let's support all workers in their struggles against exploitation and defend all vital services against profiteering. If a service is important enough to be depended upon then it's important enough to be in public ownership and run on a not-for-profit basis.
It's always a joy to listen to Mick's clarity and wisdom when he speaks passionately about the rights of working people. Well done Mick, and well done BMA

Strike is the only answer, Everyone, including the Unions, the government, the opposition, the army, the entire medical profession, the over staffed civil service and the police should all go on an indefinite strike. No one to administer benefits, pensions etc. *GREAT* We could all lie in bed breaking wind all day, eating pork pies and sinking pints. Yes siree Bob, let's bankrupt the country and let anarchy run its course. Clever strategy, eh Einstein?
Good to see the middle class mobilising. I'm a senior software engineer and my salary has not tracked inflation. I'm paid less in real terms than I was in 2008, despite another 15 years of experience and a notionally more senior role. My peers tell me they are in the same position. Personally I'm still materially secure and I'd be comfortable with lower pay if it was a result of higher taxes being used to fund public sector salaries. But it's not- it's a result of an ever-increasing wealth transfer to the already exceptionally wealthy. A large chunk of my salary also now goes on private medical care. My son narrowly avoided facial paralysis and complete hearing loss because our underfunded NHS took a year to diagnose a problem that we eventually had to go private for, in the nick of time according to our surgeon. I also have Ehlers Danlos, for which there is very little care within the NHS, and that has also cost me four or five figures a year on private care since I was diagnosed. They came for the working class, they're coming for the middle class. We need to unite.
Great comment. I'd be very happy to pay more tax if I knew it was going on the most important services like the NHS: without good health and access to healthcare free at the point of use, we are nothing. Gary Stevenson, wealth economist and campaigner against wealth inequality said they're coming for the middle classes: your pay and your homes. Now you know what non-middle-class people have had to put up with for decades. It's so ironic. We must not allow this corrupt government to use its divide and rule tactics to pit us all against each other: its how they win.

Had the honour to meet a consultant who was organising my treatment for a health problem. He knew what I did for a living and was aware of my admiration of the Labour Movement and obviously the NHS. On my last visit, after the job, we found ourselves bantering about the conditions us 'workers' are having to suffer at the hands of the political wing of the very wealthy who currently rule via Parliament. We both chuckled at sitting in the same boat, a fantastic feeling of solidarity.
So long as they’re glued to the legacy media - from the hamstrung BBC to the Establishment right wing press, they’ll never get to see speeches like this. That’s the problem at the heart of so many issues in this benighted country.
This man is a legend. He has brilliant communication skills that are not taught by an expensive PR firm charging the earth. He is not like those rubbish MP's and the PM who stage manage every interview and photo opportunity. Rishi Sunak could never stand in front of a group of people and speak from the heart unless someone wrote him a speech. This guy can and why? because he is intelligent, honest and what he says makes perfect sense.
Regardless of whether you agree with his campaign and approach to negotiation, you cannot help to be blown away by Mick’s authentic, grounded intelligence and inspirational oratory. I’d love to go for a pint with him. A modern day Jimmy Reid. Oh to have a single MP who could generate this degree of passion and inspiration.
Brought tears to my eyes ... tears of sadness for what has already been lost, for all the millions of people who are suffering poverty while a few grow obscenely rich, sadness for all our forebears who fought for democracy and peace ... and tears of hope that the change Mick speaks about can really happen because we need it NOW. God bless Mick Lynch and everyone who is standing up to these disgraceful thieving bullies.
I have such respect for this man. Everything he says is so obvious to me. This is the sort of passion which the leader of the opposition should have, but clearly doesn't. 👏👏👏👏
A man of outstanding qualities of honesty,sincerity and most of all,a magnificent speech maker of flawless truth and fact.He is the only man that I have herd in my lifetime who says it straight out about the corrupt filth who are running the UK.

You are spearheading the fight not just for yourselves, but for all decent working poor members of public. Don’t falter, you have assumed the mantle that used to belong to the NUM. Remember also, that though the Tories purport to be pro NHS, Churchill’s govt voted 21 times against it’s formation. Remember they are still Tories today, with the same ideology………

We're at a truly watershed moment right now, when people are uniting across the country, across classes, industries and professions, to create a decent society. Please, lets see it through to the conclusion, get Labour in and then make them accountable for every decision until the rot is rooted out of our country and society. United We Stand ! The RCN did not meet the threshold for more strike action recently. Its members have hoisted the white flag in surrender. Yes, the threshold of fifty percent is outrageous and there should be online ballots but it is not difficult to post a letter. Lynch is right about transfer of wealth but it has been happening since 1979 by design. It is what neoliberalism set out to do and it has succeeded beyond its wildest dreams with the connivance of the voters, including most of those who identify as Labour given its capitulation to Thatcherism under Blair. This is not a watershed moment because neoliberalism is so embedded in UK society that it has a long way to go before anything changes, if ever. The Labour Party will copy Tory policy and nothing will change. I saw Corbyn give a similar speech to Lynch in Manchester Cathedral in 2015 and nothing changed despite the hope his rise engendered. Too few people care for anything to change.
Brilliant speech Mick Never thought I would see citizens from all walks of life coming together as in lower working class to upper middle working class. Wonderful. We need to stand together. Not pit worker to worker against each other that is the Torie ideology as in scapegoat. Follow where the distribution of wealth goes and who too there lyes the humongous greed for the few. This man is at the top of his game,even if you do not agree with him,he is a natural speaker of the truth that some do not want to hear,very impressive speech. He is running rings around this Government and it’s ministers.

A genuine orator, clear-spoken, engaging and inspiring. I wish Sir Keir Stamer was as genuine as Mick Lynch. People are crying out for a change from the sickening corruption and inept management of thisTory government.
He will be remembered as a great human being and we all need to back him up and get a fair deal for everyone and stop the rich getting richer and distributing the wealth around so food banks are a thing off the past and help for people who are homeless and have mental health issues.
